- Did you know that our houseplant hobby isn't THAT sustainable? I sure didn't.
Doing research for this, I found many ways on how we can make living in our planty homes more sustainable. I was shocked about the things I found, and will now be adapting any of these - I'm not currently doing, to start doing now.
I'll go over 5 ways to know how to make houseplants more sustainable, so we can all make this green hobby greener for our planet.
Let me know in the comments how you keep your houseplant hobby sustainable 😊

This is a great video. I try to be sustainable and you e given me more ideas.
Thanks Lisa! Glad to hear it! 😊👏🌿
I love your tips 🪴💛 I’m definitely going to be using my old candle holders and containers 💛
Yay! I love that! 👏 I’ve even started to see companies specifically making their candle jars to use for plants. 😊🌿
Morning Amanda 😊 I love to see creative people, forget about aesthetics because it's expensive lol 🤞😂
👏😊 sometimes it’s better that way
Amanda: Another thought provoking video! 😊 I also reuse, separate, and even enrich soil for repotting purposes. Rainwater is awesome. Quick one: I actually saw a monstera albo and Thai constellation in person! Much more impressive in real life than in photographs! I'm glad you own these plants. Aloha.🪴
Love to hear that! Always good to reuse what you can! 👏 they’re SO MUCH more magical in person. 😊✨🌿
I buy 32 gal garbage containers at Walmart and use it to collect rain water. I also saved paint buckets and reuse them for rain water catching and storing.... i also rescue plant in my neighborhood on yard waste and sometimes garbage day... maybe 50 percent of my plant are rescues/free.....I also get a lot of planters/nusery pots that way too
Aw that makes me so happy! So sweet you gave those plants a new home and a second chance! 👏 I also love the garbage can idea, you must collect a lot of water 😊🌿
Thank you for helping tips
Absolutely 🫶😊🌿
You plants are beautiful and the candles holder l do the same l clear them good l use them
👏👏 love it!
Nice tips! I use bleach 10% to 90% water. I let it soak for an hour, then I rinse repeatedly until there’s no more bleach smell; it works for me. Thanks for sharing.
Oh yeah?! That’s great 👏😊🌿
I’ve heard the baking method but for an hour.
Where in Florida do they usually have plant swap, i would like to attend but never heard of any.
They have one that I know of often at Propagate social house in Apopka. There’s also a few they do a year at Perfect Choice nursery.
I’ve heard of poachers doing that to some current “hot” plants.
It’s pretty sad..
I bake my soil. It works, but it does make the house smell.
