Air horn and a walking stick. Here in Canada we can use things called "Bear Bangers" to scare off animals. Makes a big bang and it generally works to scare off animals like bears, coyotes, wolves, etc.
But all the animals you ame are predators. A horse is a prey animal. I don't know if a horse in attac mode fearing for it's life will take of only by noise.

@@teddycuda Lol. This thread is about how to deal with an aggressive animal that's intent on doing you and yours harm. I offered Jamie very sound advice on how to deal with this type of situation. I don't think Jamie has ever encountered a situation like this before. The use of "Bear Bangers", Bear spray, and/or "cherry bombs" is a highly recommended bit of kit when you wander amongst the wilds. It can save your "life" should the need arise and it's wise to be aware and prepared. Take care of yourself!
I had a similar experience with cows we were walking in a field and a bunch of cows start galloping towards us. It was scary! We found out later that carrying a big stick is advised. You never really realise how big they are until you are being chased by them! Glad you’re ok 👍

I would ask the mechanic to put a tarp or something over the motor . When you first showed the motor I saw watter dripping into far right manifold hole where the stud broke off. If water keeps dripping into the hole it will rust the cylinder walls if it hasn't started already. It could cause your motor major problems like motor replacement. Just looking out for you and sherpa
Very good point you also would need to vacuum the water out. Outside chance but hopefully none of the rings were worn to allow water to get into the oil. The only time I've ever seen vehicles like that is in areas that get almost no rain or perfectly sunny calm days.
Poor sherpa... WOW!! I'm glad you and sherpa are ok. I'd carry a loud air horn. They're small but they'll scare the horses and any other animals. Good for you for being brave to charge the horse. Your nice and strong like bull. ❤🥰

A quick lesson in horse language: Ears pinned flat against the head means get out of the way ( left or right of the horse’s path) and call Batdog. Ears perked ears means something got their attention. One ear perked and the other to the side means they’re relaxed. So pay attention to the horse’s ears next time. You don’t have to carry anything special.
Do you feel this way? For me, the best smell in the world -- next to when my son was still a baby fresh out of a bath and in jammies clean out of the dryer -- is the smell of a horse. There is nothing else like it in the world. I love to stand in front of a horse and press my forehead against theirs -- it's like some kind of ancient communication.
If you can get it in England there's a spray repellant that uses a strong citronella scent to distract and deter animals. Not pepper spray. It's called PetSafe Spray Shield Animal Deterrent spray. I use it when dealing with aggressive animals on the job. Also stops other dogs from attacking. And always be talking loud to them and facing the horses when walking away. Slowly.
Oh my, the candle looks so dangerously close to the curtains! Please be careful, Jamie! So sorry about the horse attack, thank God the both of you are safe! Also, its nice seeing you taking your daughter out shopping. Something fresh on your channel, I love it!
Justin we've got a resurgence of coyotes in rural North Carolina. When I'm the last dump truck driver back to the shop some nights the coyotes start howling closeby, about 15 minutes after the hear engine off. I'm slow to do post trip inspection compared to other drivers. The sound is chilling !I hustle to my car .Eventually they do stalk people if pack populations get too large.
@@luashelton9320 I drove local for a major trucking company in Indianapolis years ago and I was the last truck in so the shop was closed, no one around and I had to pee! So I parked my tractor in front of two trailers that were parked to block the view from the street and I went and peed. Headed back to the truck, climbed up and right in front of my truck was a lone coyote looking up at me!!! Needless to say, I never did that again!! Lol! Ahhhh, the stories us drivers could tell!! Stay safe out there! 🚚

Jamie~I'm so glad to hear that you & Sherpa are safe. Thankfully you were able to protect Sherpa and yourself. So brave of you Jamie to put Sherpa's safety over your own. It sounds like you did the best you possibly could under those frightening circumstances. Stay safe boys. 🐾💕
Yes I thought the same as Sherpa does look wolfish. Jamie I'm just thinking the fire on the moors spooked them. Also can be breeding time which will make the stallions very amped up. Just take care on yours and Lord Sherpa's walks. House looks fantastic very cozy looking! Take care, Sherpa, Jamie, and of course sister Sarah!
While I agree this was my first impulse as well...on further thought, I doubt that GB horses are accustomed to seeing wolves (not sure when the last official sighting was either) any time recently. More likely something set off the horses territorial instinct. Perhaps a pregnant mare or perhaps he was newly come into the alpha role. Either way...glad You and Sherpa are well. Cheers.

Sherpa is also an animal.
@@teddycuda
It's a trust thing. Perhaps you've never owned a dog and been in a wilderness environment. I have!
@@williamlanark3038 perhaps you know nothing about me. Perhaps you don't know all dogs. Jamie knows Sherpa and will do the right thing thing for him; I really didn't need to mention anything. My goal was simply to toss it out there because even the best of us don't always think of everything.
I'm glad you guys are alright! Give Sherpa a big hug from all of us for being brave and protecting his dad !
Sorry about scare. Comfort poor Sherpa.
I had a similar experience with cows we were walking in a field and a bunch of cows start galloping towards us. It was scary! We found out later that carrying a big stick is advised. You never really realise how big they are until you are being chased by them! Glad you’re ok 👍
He scared Sherpa?!!!!!
What a horse's ass!!
Glad you two are ok.
🇬🇧❤🇺🇸
The room looks bigger with the new curtains. A suggestion for the wall: leave it as is, just in case you get a beautiful piece of art with Sherpa on it.
Would be nice wouldn't it
@@SherpasDay Or a lovely bit of art with Sherpa and Key / Nook? Maybe they have a lovely picture?
@@SherpasDay I thought that is where you were going to put that metal picture of Sherpa that you got recently.

Don't forget a picture of HRH Queen Mouse!! I believe that should go up top, then all the doggos pics! 😹😹🐈
What a striking shade of indigo blue in the water!
I’ve just watched this video and know what also happened to Sherpa at a later date too. Holy cow. I’ve been chased by wild horses before and it was one of the scariest moments of my life. It sounds like you handled that situation really well. You sounded very brave and wonderfully protective in a crazy scary situation. Well done Jamie.
That's the tiredest, flattest, little puppydog in the world right now! Sooooooo tired. You did the right thing, and used the tools available to defend Sherpa, and you did it very well. Way to think on your feet.
Glad you're ok, most horses are so kind and care less. That horse was grumpy and had a bad day. Sherpa don't let the horse ruin your love of friends 🥰
We'll definitely be on edge for a while around them again
@@SherpasDay they will be able to sense you on edge so try and relax. They kind of act like big dogs, a loud telling off can work well
@@SherpasDay and rightly so ...
I'm glad you're both ok! Horses are naturally afraid of wolves so perhaps it had a bad encounter with another dog or a wolf & decided to go on the offensive rather than the defensive. Being prepared is a good idea!
Good to hear both of you are ok. Truly a special relationship between the two of you.
Held my breath as the curtain skimmed the candle. Don’t do that again!
Oh my, yes!!
I was about to write a similar comment
Jamie, candles and curtains are a bad combo.😕🔥🏠
What about investing in a tiny air horn? The kind people like to prank others with. Carry with you and won’t hurt anyone but hopefully the noise will scare anything away. Poor Sherpa must have been so scared, couldn’t even defend himself or you Jamie. Thank goodness you had the umbrella and enough sense to use it.
This is what I was thinking about too. An air horn and a walking cane.
Great minds think a like...I just suggested that before reading more comments.
Ohh no 😔 poor baby...I can’t imagine Sherpa being scared and it’s a sight I don’t wanna see! Glad you two are safe and your dad instinct took over...good job not recording it, your safety is more important 😌 please continue to be careful and follow your instincts.
JAMIE YOU COULD KEEP A WHISTLE & A PERSONAL ALARM ON YOUR KEY CHAIN. GLAD YOU & SHERPA ARE SAFE....LOVE YOU BOTH ♡♡♡
That is an absolutely insane encounter. Glad you guys are okay! Sherp looks defeated and exhausted. He deserves many biscuits and belly rubs!
Re- watching on October 29, 2024 6:59 pm, remembering Sherpa, and supporting Jamie. My goodness Jamie, you're like Steed with _his_ umbrella! The emblematic, heroic Englishman! It is wise to be wary of horses, they can badly injure or kill you! Rest In Peace sweet Sherpa- watch over Jamie until you two are reunited at the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈🌈🌈
Mini air horn. The viewed Sherpa as a predator and was protecting his herd. So glad you two are safe!!
yes sherpa is a predator. he stalks CHICKEN.
you are right on point with the air horn suggestion
Sherpa learnt that the world is not as friendly as he thought.
Poor serpa 😢😥
😥
Oh, no! Poor boy! Sherpa must have been confused and scared. Hope he's feeling much calmer now.
What you need is the kind of umbrella that shoots knockout gas from the tip, like James Bond or John Steed.
Poor Sherpa! He must of been really scared!😳
Get yourself a couple cans of “air horns” the sharp, screeching sound should scare them away!! Amazon has them!!
Could scare Sherpa too though, dogs hearing is much more sensitive than ours too.
Good idea.
Couple that with a whistle around his neck. It can also be used to let others human or animal know that someone is there even with a bit of wind it gets loud enough.
That is what I advised as well as some high lumens flashing devices.
No, you can traumatize animals with that. You do not need to hurt the horses.
As a side note, careful with how close that candle was to the curtain when you closed it 😅😅
I flinched when I saw that.
Yup, I thought the same thing when I saw that.
@@yatwobob Same
Exactly what I was thinking
I saw the candle just as I read the original post.
Please give Sherpa a hug for me. I’m glad you are both ok
Horses are very unpredictable, glad you both got away safely. Your new curtains look so much better.
Sherpa looks exhausted poor boy. X
I would bring that candle forward it’s a bit close to that curtain
I thought exactly the same
So glad you boys are OK!!!! I can't imagine how scary was. You're a good daddy.
There was probably a mare in heat so he was rutting he saw Sherpa and you as an opponent, bulls do the same thing. Be careful mate have a good day cheers 🐶❤️🐶🐾
AWWWW poor Sherpa. Daddy saved you.
On that empty wall space - a big blown up photograph of Sherpa, Sarah, you, with the red van, choose a location that's green. Print the photo on canvas, it'll look great!
Jamie, you have done a beautiful job of giving your home a make over. That empty space would be a great spot for a family picture of you sherp and Sarah.
Sherpa probably wants just Jamie and himself in the portrait. 😁
Poor Sherpa I’m so happy you guys are okay
😊
@@SherpasDay I’m so sorry horses can be quite mean even when they aren’t wild I’m just glad you and Sherpa are safe

Poor Sherpa give I’m a cuddle off everyone 👍👍👍👍
Sherpa's day definitely makes my Weekend. Now all I can think about is you rugby tackling a horse. Guessing your calling batdog later Jamie? Glad your both ok 💙
Haha it was scary but it picked on the wrong dog owner 🥷
@@SherpasDay you mentioned a fire extinguisher, something like an airhorn would be better as horses ears are very noise sensitive
Get you a riding crop
@@TerryBaker84 dogs ears are also sensitive ...
Thanks Terry. I know they push it back in at night but I'll definitely get them to do that
Very good point you also would need to vacuum the water out. Outside chance but hopefully none of the rings were worn to allow water to get into the oil. The only time I've ever seen vehicles like that is in areas that get almost no rain or perfectly sunny calm days.
Terry, nice of you to notice that and offer your advice.
Sherpa: *sleeping.*
James: "...gave him fish..."
Sherpa: *Wakes up!*
I noticed that too 😂 Smart boy.

Poor sherpa... WOW!! I'm glad you and sherpa are ok. I'd carry a loud air horn. They're small but they'll scare the horses and any other animals. Good for you for being brave to charge the horse. Your nice and strong like bull. ❤🥰
I just watched this video and I was tearing up thinking of Sherpa sticking by your side. I'm glad, and he was too, that you did all you could to protect both of you. 💙 What a difference the curtains and cushions made for your living room. You have good taste. 💙 I love the scenery that you capture on your wanders. And, I thought you had an accident in the van. 😵💫 Glad it was only at the garage. Miss you, Sherpa. Take care, Jamie.🐕🐾🐾💙💙
A quick lesson in horse language:
Ears pinned flat against the head means get out of the way ( left or right of the horse’s path) and call Batdog.
Slowly.
You can’t go around spraying animals with crap
This guy loves Sherpa so much, man shoulder barged a freaking house fam. Love that
Sherpa staying by your side ............Sherpa was protecting YOU
How blooming cute and fun is Sister Sarah! “I’ll pay you back, £2 a month.”
Oh my God!!!! Thank you Jamie for protecting our Lord Sherp and staying safe yourself. God bless you. Stay safe🙏
Oh my, the candle looks so dangerously close to the curtains! Please be careful, Jamie! So sorry about the horse attack, thank God the both of you are safe! Also, its nice seeing you taking your daughter out shopping. Something fresh on your channel, I love it!
B I thought exactly the same thing!!!! About the candle!!!
It's a "coyote" thing here in the states. The horse sees Sherp as a preditor.
@@luashelton9320 oh dude, that sounds scary! Perhaps you should get something to protect yourself with. Like an airhorn. Take care!

It's hard seeing Sherpa not howling back at you in his normal sassy way. Hopefully you both gets your spirits back to normal in the next few days. Glad everybody is physically safe.
So sorry this happened how horrible! May Sherpa just sleep!
He deserves this!
Jamie~I'm so glad to hear that you & Sherpa are safe. I checked out horses attacking dogs online and discovered that a horse will see a dog as a wolf and will either go into flight or fight mode if it feels threatened or annoyed in any way.
What about a whip that you can crack at a distance from the horse?
While I agree this was my first impulse as well...on further thought, I doubt that GB horses are accustomed to seeing wolves (not sure when the last official sighting was either) any time recently. More likely something set off the horses territorial instinct. Perhaps a pregnant mare or perhaps he was newly come into the alpha role. Either way...glad You and Sherpa are well. Cheers.
@@lovindablues Note to self~do not assume that wolves inhabit every country. I appreciate the reality check. Apparently the last wolf sighting in GB was 1680.
