    I knew a guy who inherited a Pontiac GTO Judge. His father killed his mother when he was 5 and the court awarded that it be his on his 18th birthday. True story.

    I had a '70 'Cuda with a 383 cubic inch engine and before that a '73 'Cuda with a 360. They looked amazing and sounded amazing too. in 1989 I got stopped by a cop on what looked like a vacant stretch going 98 mph. (I blame Yoko Ono.) Anyway, after the cop did his script, he asked to see the engine. I obliged. He wrote me up for going just 65 mph. He said it was so I wouldn't lose my license. It was a different time, kids. ••• Thanks! PEACE!!!

    The most powerful car I ever drove was a Turbo Trans AM. It was a beautiful car but boy did it suck down the gas. Same with my 300ZX, it was a gas guzzler as well but then gas was much cheaper back in the day.

    BP2 is right. The Pontiac Firebirds had the T-top roofs.

    I also had a 1965 Mustang that my dad bought me for graduation in 1978 that he paid 300$ for...my sister got a red one and I got a teal one...I really wish I would have kept it...I wrecked it 4 times and went through three clutches learning to drive a clutch...but it was wonderful and we took it everywhere..all of my friends called it putt....a really good name for a really good car...so sad I didnt keep it.

    BP2 for a second there, I thought that was a Fresno State collar shirt. Also it's a shame that they didn't mention the Nova or even the Roadrunner.

    We grew up with sports cars, not muscle cars. Corvette (my dad still has one), Porsches were in the garage when I was growing up. Of course my mom (probably didn't want to) and me being the girl child (I did) weren't allowed to drive them. It was my dad and little brother who did. My brother just got to drive it in our neighborhood but still... I was jealous. I got to be the passenger.

    There were 3 "muscle cars" in that video, the Chevelle, the GTO and the Charger. NONE of the other cars are "muscle cars".

    My 77 Grand Prix had a 405 and would go up to 90 mph in under 30 seconds...why isnt it in this..the best car I ever had.

    You would think that "The First" muscle car would be on the "best" list ... being as it was the only one at the time, but sadly ... no.
    I, also, believe that the definition of "muscle car" seems to have evolved through the years, which doesn't surprise me in the least !! 🤕🤕

    • @alteredaustin1
      @alteredaustin1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not only do they never include the first muscle cars (it's more than 1), most of the "muscle car" videos are filled with cars that aren't muscle cars, just like the video they reacted to here.
      But you're right, where are the REAL first muscle cars, the 413 Mopars that beat the so-called "first" muscle car GTO by 2 years? The ones that had bigger engines and more horsepower than a puny 389 powered Lemans with "GTO" stickers on it.

    I owned a 1975 Datsun 240 ZX. Nissan was always the parent company, and this was prior to the name change. More a sports car than a muscle car.

    • @alteredaustin1
      @alteredaustin1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another liar. The 240 was never a "ZX" and the 240 ended in 1973.

    Back in the day, I had a 69 Firebird then I got a 72 Chevy Z28 with an LT1 350hp Corvette engine in it. I could fill it up with gas for $5.00 dollars those were the days! White with black stripes and a Rally sport front end I wish I still had it!

    • @alteredaustin1
      @alteredaustin1 ปีที่แล้ว

      SO much buIIshlt in these comments. Also, why would you have a "LT-1 350hp Corvette engine" in a '72 Camaro when the Camaro came with the LT-1 itself, with the same horsepower as the Corvette, which wasn't 350 HP, it was 255.
      PS - the Camaro has an 18 gallon tank. The least you' were spending on gas in your imagination was $10.00.
      PPS - the Corvette LT-1 was never rated at 350 HP, neither was the Camaro LT-1. Do your research before you start lying.

    Some thing you two need to know, manugacturers lied about horse power output intentionally for insurance purposes. So add at least 100 horse power to each of these on this list. And the 1970 Chavelle I have seen on a tv show dynoed at well over 525 horsepower at the rear wheels and it was about 50 years old and never restored.

    Ok, YAY! You're in my wheelhouse! Daddy STILL drag races! Mostly at the Antique Nationals, sometimes at the Salt Flats, and really wherever he can. He runs a '34 Ford Coup, I can't tell you the engine (such a girl!) but it has a nitrous pack. NOT street legal. He also has a nice collection of other antique Fords, 56 T-Bird, and others. He and my mother had Corvettes when I was younger, both midnight metallic blue, hers was a '68 Stingray convertable, his was a '67 Stinngray T top. My husband has a thing for Ford Torinos. We have a '71 & '72. Plus a '73 Ford Ranchero. He had a Maverick he used to drag race, again I can't speak of the engine. There is NOTHING like American MUSCLE! Remember, in 1966 Ford beat Ferrari!

    A lot of these models they eventually brought back newer versions of these, which, in my opinion, is a mistake.
    They pale in comparison and are nowhere near the cool factor of the originals.
    The 70s gas crunch meant most cars became much smaller with better fuel efficiency.
    It was also the decade when more foreign made cars flooded America, including Toyota.
    Anyone with any of these cars could potentially make a pretty penny if they sold them.

    I remember working for a rental car when I was young. I don't remember the year, but the Z28 had such tight fitting engine it didn't have proper cooling. So when a customer rented this specialty car they were warned it would overheat in our very hot Texas summers. Or you could run it normally without the air conditioner. Hell of a choice to make when it is 105 out & humid. About 45 or 46 for you guys. Never wanted a muscle car really And I was driving when those were new. I thought the Challenger Super Bee was a nice looking car. My dream car was a Studebaker Avanti or a Mercedes 250C roadster.

    • @alteredaustin1

    Notice all of these cars have a huge front for a big engine, but a small back end. Less weight, faster cars, and those cars hauled ass!! I think around the mid 70's they started making them more family style. That's when sucking began 😄

    • @alteredaustin1
      @alteredaustin1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "Notice all of these cars have a huge front for a big engine, but a small back end. Less weight, faster cars, and those cars hauled ass!!". LOL First of all, no, "all of them" don't. Second, they "all" have the same body as any standard version of their respective model. They don't have "a huge front end for a big engine". The Camaro, Firebird, Challenger, Barracuda and Mustang, "all" have that configuration because they are "PONY CARS" not "muscle cars" and the first 4 were designed that way to emulate the Mustang because of it's success, not for "a big engine". And the Mustang wasn't designed that way for "a big engine" either.
      Good Lord, the number of people who clearly know nothing about cars spewing nonsense in these comments is pathetic.
