Saying "it's like the wild west" is not accurate. It sounds cool but there are referees for a reason. More players get injured playing Gaelic than hurling.

Do people from Ireland really call GAA "Football"? Maybe it's a country thing but I'm a Dub and I never heard anyone calling it "Football". Everyone says GAA/Ga(a)/Gaelic, mostly Ga(a). I had this argument with a friend years ago who played Camogie, she kept calling Football "Soccer" and I asked her why, she said Gaelic Football is "Football" but she never called it football, she called it Ga(a) like everyone else. In my opinion only USA/Canada and Australia can call it Soccer because they have their own football that they call football, we don't call Ga(a) football generally. I hope this makes sense, I said "football" a lot!!

Unfortunately half the country has completely forgotten that we were once the most widespread immigrants in the world and it's a huge part of our history.
