I can do this as well, its not always a perfect fit but can be made to work closely with time.

Good tutorial but once you have attached the outfit you want, how to you make it disappear and use it as a clothing toggle?

I tried this, and everything sticks correctly.
But once I export it, none of the things show up in vrchat.
Wonder what went wrong, I followed the tutorial perfectly...

when i drag and drop the part of the clothing to the same part of the model on my rex in hierarchy i dont get the little blue highlight to place it like that, it just immediately throws it into the children of said part, any tips?

It can, some may night be a direct fit and will need scale to be manipulated but if there is an armature with the item attaching works the same way

You can, sometimes it's as simple as an FBX for example a hat that you would just parent to the head.

If paired properly to the avatar and armature properly it should show, something might have been misplaced

I do have a video for toggles, however I messed up by not hitting the play button on the first animation so make sure you do that like I demonstrated in the second animation th-cam.com/video/1qNtpuIsEG8/w-d-xo.html

It can be changed with blendshapes if you double click the avatar, the newer version defaults to feathers and can be changed in game, or manipulated by blendshapes in Unity
