Thank you for all you do. I just recently found your channel while hunting for my next air fryer. You've been super helpful. I just purchased this unit. One side note: I believe the correct model number is GAF858. GAF966 is for the Dual Basket. I hope this helps. God bless!
Some get worked up over the touch screen having some divots. Most people never notice, nor should it be a concern. The manufacturer had to do *something* to hold the touch screen in place. There are 4 points where the touch screen is secured in place. It is not a defect, it is by design. If they had not done that and glued it. Everyone would complain in 6 months their screen is falling off. th-cam.com/video/NEnw5pd1000/w-d-xo.html
@@WaveOvenRecipes Oh goodness, that was not the type of "screen" I was thinking of, lol. What you're referring to I would call a "display panel". So sorry. Anyway, no dents or divots on my unit.
Very comprehensive review. Thanks! The overwhelming number of customer reviews are 5*, but the few bad ones have some recurring issues, e.g. 1) cheaply made (I guess for $40, no surprise); 2) generates lots of heat so can’t be placed next to backsplash, spew grease outside, 3) 2 paned door allows water to get in between the glass & plastic surfaces. #1 - tolerable; #2 - very concerning; #3 - potentially concerning. Your review corroborates problem #3. You didn't seem to think problem #2 was really a problem. Another concern is cleaning. Like you I prefer to clean by hand.
@@WaveOvenRecipes Thanks. I went to this 30 day review even before I saw your reply. My impression is that my heat concern might be overblown. I understood your solution to the window moisture issue.
@@WaveOvenRecipes Great review! I watched your video after I bought it at Costco but before I opened it up in case it was a bad review. Thanks for a through review. Laminated guide was exciting to find.
I was about to buy a Bella 4qt air fryer because I’ve been looking for a ceramic nonstick (not chemical nonstick) air fryer with the basket style for ages, (and it also has the bake and dehydrate as well). But the fact that this one has the window, double capacity for same price and only 3” wider plus Costco guarantee has me almost willing to give up and accept a bit of endocrine disruptors getting into my food 😂.
If you want to stay safe, you would do well to get no one with *any* coating. And get stainless steel or cast iron, absolutely nothing else. (Give it time, that ceramic coating will probably be found to have an issue too.) Steel and iron have stood the test of ages, millennia. I cannot say that for any of the "modern technology".
That is a good point and thank you for the reply! Are there any slim basket style ones that have 0 coatings on the market tho?? Because even if I changed out the rack, the sides have the coating too which is what’s leaning me towards the Bella. I really like the dehydrate function too. The toaster oven style ones are definitely too large for my space, but being able to see the food as it cooks thru a window is nice.
I always buy a flexible liner and cut it to fit. For whatever cooker I am using, if I have such a need. Waiting for someone to make one the exact size you need might never happen. Or, cost much more if it does. I still use these, but you can find something similar. Any standard oven liner can be cut to fit. Yes, the volume of audible tones are significantly lower than my Gourmia 846. Almost impossible to here in an open adjacent room or on other side of the kitchen. This a huge fail in my opinion
@@WaveOvenRecipes yes I noticed that your unit drawer closes easily. I might end up exchanging it at Costco. Hopefully it’s just my unit. Thanks for your response and 30 day reference link 😊 Regarding the condensation, I lay it on its side after washing and it seems to help it dry quickly.
I am on my second unit, and find that the drawer on both can get difficult to align when the basket is hot. Does seem to be an issue with cold basket, but for some reason when cooking, and open to turn or shake, it is more difficult to align when basket is hot
But, why? Did you know, every basket air fryer has a double door. And, they have holes between the 2 doors. And, water sticks in *all of them* . It just happens you see it with the window versions.
@@WaveOvenRecipes that’s a good point. And I was looking at mine without the window and thinking the water goes inside there too. But you had said the temperature is a bit off cause of the window, if I’m not mistaken. Plus it’s more fragile with glass vs without. I don’t see much benefit with having the window 🤔

My new Gourmia Air Fryer GAF824 8 Qt is giving off toxic fumes.. (I had big hopes for this product). I have never cooked food in this Air-Fryer because of this issue. The nauseating stench fumes are coming from the non-stick basket and crisper tray. The toxic stench is persisting even after at least TEN cleaning and burning off cycles of 10-30 minutes...I was willing to use this I item WITHOUT the crisper tray but the basket continues to give off a persistent toxic stench as well... The bottom line is I do not want to eat food cooked in this toxic appliance...It's bad enough I have had to put up with breathing the toxic fumes it gives off. Sending back to WM today...
