I dont know why but i'm like a kid at x-mas over this project and i'm not a trucker! I guess i just like when people show the old stuff some TLC and keep it going. Looking forward to when this old lady hit the road again. Liked and subbed. 👍
I can't comment on anyone's videos for some reason, you need to get the additives for the coolant, from Cummins, water will eat holes in the piston liners
Hi from the U.K. great to see you back and sorry for your loss but you gust got to brush yourself off and move on. Keep up the good work and thanks, markUK
It’s ALIVE!!! Amazing what a little elbow grease and paint can do. Looking good mister! I don’t know what we are going to watch when you get this done and driving it as a daily work truck.
Hell yeah not 4 hire you are off to a damn good start..that engine 3clean as "truck"..you are replacing all the worn out cracked lines..brand new parts..love the color of the cab..keep up the great work my dude
I was following you on the awesome cabover.. Just subbed. Sorry to hear about your losses and my condoleances. Don't sweat about not being there for a time, family is ALLWAYS FIRST!!! Nice to see you're back.
First, I'm sorry for the losses. Her grandfather is hard, and the animals are too!! We all get attached to those we care for! Second, that piece for the A/C is the Dryer. anytime you open up the A/C system, you should change the dryer they're pretty cheap! Third... I refer to (and others do too) as 'methed' up wiring ... fixes done on the back row of the truck stop after a 8 ball cross country trip ...haha my Pete was full of them! How she didn't burn to the ground is beyond me. Pure luck I guess! You're doing a great job, keep it up boss!
@@NOT_FOR_HIRE I must've missed what you had said earlier in the video and seen people commenting about it, I'm sorry for any loses you've endured, I know the feeling, both you and Kevin above, I lost both my mother and grandfather (practically my father) in the same year, just last year, so I understand.
She’s idling way too high. Should be around 600-700, something like that. Make sure the throttle can come back against the stop screw all the way to the right on the pt pump. If it’s all the way to the right, there’s an adjustment screw inside the bulbous part that sticks out below the built in fuel transfer pump. Sometimes there is a small access plug, sometimes not. 4 screws removes the bulbous part otherwise.(fuel will drain, do with engine off, will be a trial an error deal) inside is a flat headed adjustment screw, out for lower, in for higher idle rpm. A blocked return can also raise the idle speed, so make sure it’s flowing back to the tank. The black thing on the frame rail is the combination receiver drier. It stores refrigerant, and has a desiccant bag in it also. Replace anytime you open the system. Coming along nicely.
Negative, these were purely mechanical. Inside the housing mentioned above is an adjustment screw and spring. This reacts against a spinning set of governor weights, and sets the idle when the two forces balance. When you let out the clutch for example, the motor winds down slightly- the spring overcomes the weights and gives the motor a little more fuel, trying to maintain the setting. Yes, one could adjust the idle by the external pedal/linkage, but you wont have this balance effect; much nicer outcome if you were to take the time to adjust internally.
that button piece 2 wire object looked like a heat sensor, i know they had sensors for under cab overheat. best to do is look it up by number. nice work restoring the oldies.
Glad that you are back, I thought we might have to put out an A.P.B. for your return. When you do your wiring get rid of those blue connectors. You are doing one heck of a job my friend.I never liked those coiled air lines , we always used the rubber air hoses, the coiled light cord was fine.
Love the videos. Not a trucker or a mechanic…..just really like the cabover trucks and you do such a great job commentating the work, and great camera work too!
The round-looking thing on the RH side on the frame is the for AC like a Dryer basically.... P.s that's so awesome your GFs mom drives a truck! Big Respect to all the hard-working women out there. I love how you can also just keep the door wide open lol... can't do that anymore!
Sorry to hear about your bad times recently. Bloody awesome to see ole Jolly Green rolling along well. I originally joined your channel to see the " Will it start after 25 years" video. Since then I have nearly watched all your videos and become a fan of Square Bodies and found your videos about campers interesting to as my wife and I have sold our house and moved into a caravan with our kids in the last six months. Living life full-time on the road in New Zealand. Cheers great channel! 👍
Sorry to hear about your families loss, Happy belated birthday it sucks having a birthday while all that was going on, Many people would not have been honest about the Anti freeze glad i am not the only honest person left, strange how the cow died at such a young age i hope you find the reason why. Thank you for sharing
Best feeling in the world is fixing something up from nonoperational condition and then taking it out for it's maiden voyage....that's a bad azz rig man, happy it's going well, stumbled across an earlier video of you getting it running for the first time in 20+yrs and came over to see this one, fantastic. Makes me want to get something going myself, sadly I don't have the property or even the room to do so, I'm in an apartment in ND.... they'd freak if I put a cab over in the lot 🤣 it would be hilarious though.
Nothing wrong with honesty… at the very least it’s one less burden to carry around! The more I watch your channel, the more impressed I am with your ethics!
Miss you, you could be on 24-7 and it wouldn't be enough, great stuff dude. Thank you. I tried to say what you have on your arm forever, but guess who doesn't allow it, unreal.
Not for hired my condolences to both your losses the old man must’ve been a lot of fun to hang out with all the stories when men were men.......as for your animal,,,,,,,,,, I am right there with you I’ve dealt with people for 23 years I was a railroad passenger conductor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love my four-legged dog more than I did most of the people I ever met in my life,,,,, in the 23 years.....hang in there keep up the great videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! keep plugging away don’t cry because it ended,,, smile because it happened!!!!!!!!!! take care junkman do
Totally agree about liking animals more than people. Sorry to hear about your losses. For me it seems like deaths come in threes sadly. On a positive note, I really enjoy jolly green and you made some good and necessary progress toward getting the truck all hammered out. Excited for the next one, take care!😎👍
The flow through a 1-1/8" compared to a 1" is more than a 26% improvement. You know if the FedEx guy can't find your house it might keep the murderers away too. Engine looks new again, sounds good, it's a good job! While the truck is sitting still but you seem to be putting on lots of miles walking around it. My Dad used to say "Better pack a lunch" if you have to walk around some vehicles he worked on. Might be coincidence, but the surging engine started again after the air pressure blew off. Sorry for your loss, offer a kind thought for your girlfriend on my behalf, it is no fun losing grandparents. Happy Birthday!
That’s got a name in the pipe fitting world, rap around nick named, that real ones have frictions and lines for angles, for pipe fitting, welding, nice tape works well, thanks BigAl.
sure wish those threads of the alternator shaft would have come through that lock nut by a few threads. "nc" is normally closed, "no" is normally open and "c" is common. the black can on the ac is the dryer. the air hoses from truck to trailer is just a preference. i like the coiled ones. i think it helps to keep them up and from dragging and rubbing on the truck. so sorry to have heard about the loss of your girfriends grandfather. sorry to hear your heifer as well. i am like you....my dog is very important to me.
Keep up the good work sorry for the loss bud your doing an amazing job with jolly green glad your able to get back on it but if ypu need time no worries man
NC - normally closed. NO - Normally Open. I'd suggest you change the oil cooler "core". They go out unexpectedly and start to dump pressurized oil into the cooling system. At least pull it out and make sure it's not pitted ... It's furnace brazed and it has dissimilar metals in one assembly. No problem if it has had the coolant changed regularly. But, if it's been run on water, it's iffy ...
The part you were talking about on the a/c is called the receiver drier. If I could get away with fixing up a cab over in my driveway I would. Instead I'll have to live through you by watching these videos. Damn neighbors would call code enforcement in a hearbeat.
Don't know if this will help, Burleson Trucking in Carlinville IL used to run Freightliner cabovers. They still have some out back of their shop. May have that air intake you're looking for.
Sorry to hear about your lost bro! Glad to see you back. Awesome job, it's all coming together good!! A, at first you had me fooled with the a /c pump and alternator 😁
Your first few videos of Jolly Green are a must watch for anyone considering an old truck. I've been on a 6 or 7 month tear scouring up 8nfo like this. You alone are the only one I've seen so careful about not causing more damage. I like what you do with Derek at Vice Grip Garage and how he immediately disconnects the gas from the pump & carb. I'm on the hunt for a truck like this ... Main requirement is it's got a mechanical diesel engine. 👍
Sorry for your losses my friend. Hopefully things will get back on track soon. Glad to see you making more progress on *Jolly Green* 🙂👍 Great video. Take care 🔧
Rubber hoses are the best don’t freeze and harder to break plastic hoses will get brittle with in a year. And best to get 15 ft per and solid green electric line
I'm glad you're back. My brother Chris and I were worried. It's tough to lose somebody. And almost as tough to lose a furry friend. One of the not so great facts about life is that it's finite. Jolly Green is coming along GREAT! Must have felt great to do a few laps around the yard.
It Alway Sad when you lose your loved ones or you're animals, But may God be with you and walk beside you helping you through these time
That was a really sweet comment carl...you do have a way with words my man

No explanation necessary my friend. Love what you’re doing. Looking forward to what’s next.
I can't comment on anyone's videos for some reason, you need to get the additives for the coolant, from Cummins, water will eat holes in the piston liners
Sorry about your and your girls losses brother, I’m definitely glad to see you back!!
Good job …. You are doing that truck proud …. I wish that more ppl took care of maintenance like you do
Hi from England, enjoying your journey with the jolly green

I love the old big cam Cummins brings back memories of my early days in Trucking

Thank for watching and subbing buddy!
Damn sounds good...nice and quiet..smooth like a singer sewing machine..nice turbo whistle
Sometimes life gets in the way of our projects. Glad your back working on Jolly Green 👍👍
i´m sorry for yours and your girl loss, hope things get better

My Condolences! In less than the last two years, I've lost my Father and all three of my "Fur Babies'! So I can relate! Great job on Jolly Green! :)

Thank you for the education! Yes I noticed it's idling around 1,000 rpm I'll have to look into it!
Do these not high idle when they're cold, Mr. Bo? My lesser machines most certainly run around 1,200 RPM on a cold start for a time.

@@MrBo-sg6hu You're absolutely correct too.
Damn that cab has jakes AND A PYRO GAUGE..SWEET can't wait to hear her fire up
my sympathy goes out to u & u r family! very good video, keep them coming
Thank you sir!
Sorry for your loss, but the truck sounds good.Keep up the good work.

If it goes the air valve it will be heat sensor for fan engage
Looking good keep it up you are doing great from Australia 👍

Thanks buddy glad to be back! Good to know thanks!
Yes those blue connectors suck. Get the ones with shrink tubes built in and put shrink tube over that once you know you’ve got the wires right.
This truck keeps getting cooler and cooler every time I see it. I love this truck.
Happy belated birthday, glad to have you back on top of things 👍👍
sorry to hear you had a tuff few weeks great to see your new videos look forward to the next one cheers from allan in scotland
You done a great job on the truck good job buddy
This is amazing how much work you are putting into it👍
AWESOME job, Love a Freightliner cabover. You have a nice rig, there.

You are amazing! This Freightliner is like a diamond! Bravos!!
I love these old cab overs, they remind me of my childhood. Cab overs, Autocars, and Mack R's. Love the videos man, keep em rollin' :)

That big canister is called your receiver/dryer. It's a desiccant filter for the A/C.
we called it the evaporator canister . same thing though

FYI: relays and other switches- NO = Normaly Open, NC = Normaly Closed, C - Common (the center point for either position)
If you dont have to turn in the old Alternator for a core best get refurbished be a electrical shop and have it for a backup.....
Good idea!
Freightliner makes an electric motor to raise and lower cab. Had a 78 cabover ,absolutely loved it.

remember your vids are uplifting to some of us.. keep up with your honest vids...
the ac part is a receiver/accumulator dryer. straight rubber hose for your glad hands hands down much better.

Great to see you again

Nice to see you back.
GREAT JOB MAN YOU HAVE AMAZING TALENT BROTHER
looking good so far, keep up the great content!
Glad to see you back!
Great video. Love your enthusiasm
Love the work and video keep it coming
Rubber hoses are the best don’t freeze and harder to break plastic hoses will get brittle with in a year. And best to get 15 ft per and solid green electric line
Yellow wire probably will make the fan come on bypassing the fan stat when the high pressure trianary switch tells it to.
