Visit Senso-Ji Temple in the morning
As you can see in the video, there are far fewer visitors in the morning. FYI, I took this video at 8 a.m. The time-lapse was taken at around 9:15 a.m., and you can see the crowds already starting to arrive.
Bring 5-Yen Coins
When visiting a Shinto shrine or Buddhist temple in Japan, it's common practice to toss coins into the offering box in front of the altar before saying a brief prayer. Many Japanese people will tell you that the ideal offering is a five-yen coin.
This isn’t due to any cultural emphasis on humility or detachment from material things. Rather, it’s because the Japanese phrase for "five yen," go en, sounds like the word for "auspicious connection" or "good fortune," also pronounced goen.
A place you can’t miss: Asakusa Culture and Tourist Information Center
