I was 13, and my family and I live(d) about 10 mins south of the stadium. Of course, we watched it on TV with the rest of the world. I only did 2 Olympic-related things: 1) watched the torch go through our 'hood, and 2) went to the park the night before the bombing - we stood close to that tower... Traffic was a nightmare from what I remember. Atlanta wasn't perfect, but it was still an awesome atmosphere overall.
I've been to every Olympics going back to 1984 and I enjoyed this games as much as any. Transportation was OK, hosts were friendly but the best part? TICKET SCALPERS. Honestly. I was getting tickets at BARELY above face value. Just a ton of fun.
@Demama777 It must've been good. It was the most profitable Olympics in history, and to think, the only other cities interested in hosting in '84 were New York and Tehran, and Tehran bowed out later.
It's too bad the Sonics are no longer in Seattle after 41 years as a team. But I hope they do better in Oklahoma, despite the the lease there was up, & then no one wanted to build a new arena. So that's that.
This brings back so many memories.
