  • The 61st edition of the New York Film Festival kicked off on Friday, September 29 with the North American premiere of May December, directed by Todd Haynes.
From the sensational premise born from first-time screenwriter Samy Burch’s brilliant script, director Todd Haynes (Safe, Carol) has constructed an American tale of astonishing richness and depth, which touches the pressure and pleasure points of a culture obsessed equally with celebrity and trauma. Boasting a trio of bravura, mercurial performances by Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, and Charles Melton, May December is a film about human exploitation, the elusive nature of performance, and the slipperiness of truth that confirms Todd Haynes’s status as one of our consummate movie artists. A Netflix release. Opening Night of NYFF61 is presented by Campari.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars: May December opens at FLC on November 17 and on Netflix December 1.

VELVET GOLDMINE is criminally underrared. My favorite film of all time because no matter how many times I watch it… I can quote it … I am still transported to the world Todd Haynes created and built through his astonishing craft of filmmaking. This is an eternal gift that he has given to those of us that recieve and understand his films. Love you Todd.

You must be obsessed with this movie and bothered by its success because this is the second time you’ve commented this 💀💀 Critics and audiences disagree with you. And you can once again, die mad about it. ❤️

@@lilybug__ it is also the second time for you my dear. I’m assuming you’re producer or writer on the film who is oh soooooo sensitive. I’m just a patron who put down his hard earned money to see a bad movie. get over yourself honey...

@milanr.kundera5515 I’m not the one searching for videos of an upcoming film that I supposedly “hate” continuously whining, dear. It’s looking like an obsession on your part. The other hand held q&a video got deleted and then I noticed you still being bitter lmao. Just because you didn’t like a movie, doesn’t make it objectively bad. The rave critic reviews and audience reactions disagree with you, honey. You deciding to spend your money on a film you didn’t like is not anyone else’s problem but your own. That’s a risk you take with any movie you go see. And I am not Todd Haynes or Samy Burch lmao. I watched it at the NYFF. You really gotta stop liking your own comments. It’s pathetic. Cope, sweetheart… ❤️

@@lilybug__ you’ve written more about the film than I have at this point. although the majority of what you’ve written are ad hominem attacks which don’t address the subject of the film at all. if I’m “obsessed” then you have vastly exceeded me in that regard by the sheer length of your response alone. however, despite your insistence, I can assure you that no more time or energy will be wasted on you or this terrible movie. goodbye.

@milanr.kundera5515 We have the same amount of comments, honey. Aw but is reading a few sentences really that hard for you? Did the public school system fail you? So you didn’t like a movie. It happens! If it made you that uncomfy, stick to whatever your two operating brain cells are less sensitive to. Hate to have to hold a mirror up to you, but YOU haven’t addressed the subject of the film. All you’re capable of doing is calling the movie “bad” or “terrible” and liking your own comments lol. Have a terrible rest of your day ❤️
