Great job on the chicken coop! My daughter and her husband built a chicken coop last summer and raised 6 chickens and 1 rooster, in another week or so they are getting 8 more chickens. Their 3 kids named all the chickens. Good luck raising your chickens, and yes, they do grow fast!
Great job on your coop. You and your husband are a great team. I love my girls and yes they grow fast. I had to put mine out early everytime I've gotten more because they would jump out and start running around the house. Always had to put the heating lamps on them until it warmed up enough 🤣 wouldn't change a thing because they are so awesome to have. Hope you have good luck with your babies as they continue to become part of your family 🤗💕💞❤️
Hahaha yea we caught one out running around the basement the other day! 😆 I think we will have to move them out here early too! Thanks you so much for the support. Have a great weekend! 💕☺️💕
It looks GREAT - your chickens are going to LOVE it! A couple of tips - you'll want to cut a couple of vents up high to let moisture escape (especially in the winter time). Cover them with hardware cloth but leave them open all the time. They need that air flow. And pick up a cut-off piece of sheet vinyl to lay on top of your plywood floor. It's pretty cheap and makes it SO much easier to clean out the shavings/poo later.
They don't really need excess ventilation. There are so many gaps in the building the chickens will escape anyway, LOL. I'm glad they had fun building it though, and let's face it, the chickens have no building expertise,
I'm painting mine inside as well with a glossy outdoor paint and adding vinyl floor... I believe these minor changes will make clean up alot easier... Also more venting up top
How awesome it that land and it's potential!!! 5 acres is alot of land especially if you have to mow it lol. I see the riding lawnmower and that worked on ours as well. We also had a little pond that was spring fed so it never dried up especially if there was a drought. My husband wants to raise chickens so I went to the other room so he couldn't hear you talk about the coop. He just came in here showing me a picture of one he found at Atwoods lol. I really like yours and I'm sure it's cheaper to build that buy one already made. You look amazing by the way, I'm so glad you're posting videos again!!!
Oh thank you so much! Yes it’s a lot to mow we just started trying to mow some of this past weekend but the previous owners left a bunch of buried trash(like a giant roll of carpet) ended of getting the riding mower stuck so now we have to go around and search before we finish!
Wow! Amazing! TFS! I just started watching but from the look of the plans that's going to be an awesome home for them babies, now & later. Was it cheaper to build it yourself? Hey, you could check habitat for humanity for Windows. If you haven't purchased them yet. Ok, I'm rambling. Back to the video. Much Love and Many Blessings to All! 💪🙏👣💜
Thank you! Yes to build a coop this size it was sooooo much cheaper! One this size already built was $3000 or more we ended up spending around $800 which isn’t bad. Some of the small ones that only hold 2-3 chickens are $300-$400. It was a lot of work though but we are happy with it and hopefully the hens will be too! Thanks for watching have a great weekend! 💕☺️💕
Yall did an awesome job! I've been looking at all kinds of videos on how to build a coop myself, I don't know why I didn't think to go to Etsy for plans...
Thank you! The automatic chicken door let’s you set a timer for your door to open and close each time of day so that way we don’t have to worry about if we forget or something. Still have to make sure they all are on at night though so no chicken gets left out 🙃 thansk for watching watching! 💕☺️💕
@@jessicalynnathome talk about chicken eggs....a coworker just gave me a little over 3 dozen brown eggs last night. Woot woot. Can't wait for breakfast. Lol. I'm sure y'all can't wait for your own farm fresh eggs. I don't think I've seen blue eggs before. Wait...do you have a rooster? Do you need one?
LOVE my chickens! I have 13 hens and a Rooster..the Americana will lay the blue eggs..I have one..she’s solid white....mine are getting ready to go broody and sit on eggs to hatch..Chickens are awesome..❤️🐣
I’m a small scale egg farmer. I love the fact that you are raising chickens. Eggs are nature’s perfect food. Just a little tidbit of advice though... the chicks look like it’s too warm in their brooder. One light is plenty for that number. Each week them temp gets lowered by 5 degrees. Heat lamps are an extreme fire hazard. I recommend a brooder plate. Good luck with those beautiful chicks.
Thank you! Yes we turned the other light off because it was too hot. We read that each week they require less heat and those heat lamps got hot together! Thanks for the advise! 😁
I hope your hubby realizes what an awesome wife you are with all that you do!!!!!!!! So cute that you have chickies they are adorable!!!!!!!!!!! Good to see you having some help..... Omg the chickens are so big!!!!!!!! You did an awesome job looks great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I don’t need a chicken coop this big, but like the design. Is it possible to scale this down slightly? I tried to draw up plans with the base of the floor being 4x6 instead. I think I had the overall height at the peak about 6 1/2 feet. The nesting box would have to remain the same size though. My main concern is scaling it down but it not looking off because of it.
I would love to see videos of getting your chics in their new home and advice on raising chickens.. so far. We will be doing this within the next year.
Just fyi, birds called americana at most feed stores are actually easter eggers, and will lay various colors, blues, greens and browns… the sapphire gems lay a nice lighter brown larger egg….
Looks great Jessica I was wondering if there are screens on the windows if not you might want to get some chicken wire to diy something to be able to open windows in the nice weather becuse I know my chicken coop stunk real bad so we added windows (we didnt build it ) but you guys did great if you have any question message me oon Instagram I have a farm and we do egg layers as well as meat chickens my info is on my TH-cam channel love ya !
Oh thank you! Yes the windows do have screens thankfully so we can open them up an air things out lol I definitely will be following you on Instagram and may have questions later 😁 💕💕

I’d set them on concrete blocks, and because critters are such an issue, cover the bottom with quarter inch wire (and any openings). I’m sure you know all that but I thought I’d mention it.
Well we intended to put the legs on pavers but we forgot to before we constructed everything so now we are planning on jacking it up because it’s super heavy to get those pavers under each legs so they won’t rot. 😁
@@jessicalynnathome I just saw it has a complete floor too. So probably no need for quarter inch. So cute!! Great job! Enjoy the chickens, we love ours!🥰

Those chics will die of suffocation without air! But they can’t freeze either, if oxygen holes are too massive. Hubby, what’s you be doing? Squeeze and eat the chics, you be turn in’ into Satan’s Ozzie Osborne! Yikes! Only Jesus knows the heart!
Mine have a fence, actually 10x10 chain link doge pen attached to it. I had to put avian netting on top of mine. I live in the Country and we have hawks..tomorrow is clean the Coops Day! Lol
Wow I'd never have the courage to build something like this even with plans! Way to go!
Thank you! 💕☺️💕
These diy videos are just amazing girl!!!!!
Good job! After everything is said and done isn’t it such a pleasure to sit back and admire it. Yet nothing can beat watching the chickens using it!

Are you going to get plastic windows or is that not safe for them. Just thinking if the window shatter ?
Hmmm never read anything about regular windows not being safe. 🤔
Love it!
What do you think was the most expensive part itself? Siding? How much were they?
Wow it right there getting big.
We are currently building a coop without plans but we are basing it off a few other coops we have seen on youtube. We are totally winging it.
That’s awesome! You can do it!!! 👏👏👏
Same plans we used, :) we used screws instead of the nails in most of our construction though. Ordered our windows on Amazon…
Awesome job your chickens are goingto feel like their staying In the Biltmore.👏👏❤️
It is Brilliant 💖💖💖🇬🇧

How many chickens does it hold?
We have 12 in think that would be the max for this coop. Thanks for watching 😁

If I remover right we spent between $700-800 to build this.
