I was a Rolls Royce engineer for 50 years, specialising in the Silver Cloud, and the Silver Cloud 111 Flying Spur was my all time favourite. I looked after 5 Flying Spurs privately for a Hungarian chap for several years, and also ran my own classic car workshop in Fulham and had Coys as one of my clients. Happy days. Unfortunately Coys demise was somewhat shady with some less that enamoured customers.

@@victorseastrom3455 Victor, I agree, the mechanical brake servo is prone to oil contamination and I have overhauled more than my fair share over the years. I found that if you replace the servo drive deal while there is a small dribble of oil apparent, then this tends to make a path past the new seal, so I preferred to replace the seal when the gearbox was empty, maybe whilst adjusting the bands and leaving the drive shaft with only a light smear of oil as a lubricant for the new seal.Great brakes when working correctly though even if it stumped some MOT inspectors in the early days as to why the front brakes recorded zero because(as I’m sure you know) the prop shaft has to be turning for the servo to work.

An utterly sublime way to spend 42 minutes. Thank you Jodie, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Being a classic car enthusiast since a young boy I can relate to everything Mr. Kidston was saying, follow your passion, working does feel like a hobby! I always wondered who owned FU2 after Fiona...

It was an absolute pleasure watching this interview (more than once). I would describe my teens as "old money with no money." It wasn't money that opened all the doors for me in my life, it was my ease at conversing with anyone in the world. I learned that effortlessly at home. That was the greatest gift of my life.

Well, thank you, as always Jodie. Simon's advice regarding following one's passion is such sage advice. I haven't commented before but have taken in many of your videos and they are always wonderful. At 61 I do remember you from the 90's, bravo for your spotlight that continues to glow. Like your many other interesting shows that feature true characters, this one really has a subtle human element that is so deftly delivered. More please...

I just found Simon Kidston's TH-cam Chanel a few months ago and I Kidd you not (see what I did there) I watched every video in a couple of days. What amazing content have you putting up lately, I'm not a snob, nor classics or EV lover or anything... I just love cars especially, but beautiful/mechanical wonders etc... and KiSS content is just on another level... How interesting characters are appearing in your videos, it's amazing to see people who genuinely appreciate cars no matter if classic, sports car or anything... I've been born in a family quite connected to cars and racing, and also heard and experienced lots of unbelievable stories myself, and wouldn't believe if I wouldn't actually be there, so I also find stories from other figures really interesting and brings back some of the best own memories. Amazing !!!

I also think one of the most interesting and involving discussions to date. Love the quality of the Kidston films and BTW love the beautiful woodwork and the plate on the
    RR.
Very fortunate if your passion earns you a good living. I’m a corporate lawyer and hate the boredom after 30 years, but it allows me to indulge my passion for collecting cars and everything Le Mans in particular.
Interesting that many classic car people also love mechanical watches over Apple etc, and often old school valved Hi Fi over streaming.

Another gem of an interview. Thank you Miss Kidd. Mr Kidson comes across very well, I'd buy a used, sorry, pre enjoyed car off him any day of the week, that I happen to win the lotto on. Kidders.

A truly lovely video. So nice to watch and listen to a car video where the cars in question take a back seat to the actual story’s of the cars, or the reasons why they hold a place in someone’s life.
Yes a car could maybe be worth millions, but it doesn’t come close to driving it.

Wow, this brought back some great memories of working on classic cars in Queens Gate Place Mews in the 80s, & occasionally popping over to the pub in Queens Gate Mews on a Friday. Back in those days the mews was full of car showrooms and many car related trades, so it's good to see that there are still a couple of dealers based there. Thanks for the vid!

I didn't really expect to enjoy that, as much as I very thoroughly did! Which is very silly of me because it's Kidd in a Sweet Shop, always enjoyable! Wonderful chap, stories, and car...

Another great interview Jodie. Can't have got much mpg urban driving around London in a Rolls Royce. Nice to see a Roller, the absolute epitome of luxury cars. Love that number plate lol
