    To see subtitles in other languages: Click on the gear symbol under the video, then click on "subtitles." Then select the language (You may need to scroll up and down to see all the languages available).
    --To change subtitle appearance: Scroll to the top of the language selection window and click "options." In the options window you can, for example, choose a different font color and background color, and set the "background opacity" to 100% to help make the subtitles more readable.
    --To turn the subtitles "on" or "off" altogether: Click the "CC" button under the video.
    --If you believe that the translation in the subtitles can be improved, please send me an email.

      What is the behavior of subatomic particles when there is a voltage but no current? I fully understand that if there is no load there will be no current since there is no path for the circuit to close.
      When we use a phase tester and insert it into the phase receptacle of the electrical outlet, it turns on showing that there is electric potential at that specific point. What do you think that happens with the electrons? are the charges inside the atom polarized or charged with potential energy waiting for a path to flow?
      I hope you can get my point.

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If we apply an AC voltage with no load, there is no current in the secondary winding, but there will still be a small current flowing through the primary winding. This small AC current creates the magnetic field in the core, which then creates the AC voltage on the secondary winding. The issue is that the mathematical model for an ideal transformer does not describe what a real transformer is doing.

      Even if there is "no load", the two wires with an open circuit will act like a capacitor with a very small capacitance. Therefore, this capacitance will keep charging and discharging. So there actually is a very tiny current flowing to charge and discharge this capacitance. And when the capacitance is charged, one of the wires will have slightly more electrons and the other wire will have slightly less electrons.

Your videos have contributed in a priceless & profound way in my understanding of everything physics, and you are largely to thank for the success I will see in my endeavors now that I understand physics, particularly electricity. Your part will also play a role in me understanding electricity so well so as to prevent fatal shocks. Amazing how it shows the analogy of transformers to gears as well. It looks just like the current on both sides is connected like rotating shafts are connected by a chain drive or timing belt. You can see that there is a ratio of current, analogous to a ratio of rotation rates in gears. It would look like rotating gears, if he reversed the handedness of the secondary coil, to the current rotates in opposite directions.

  • @hopelessdigger
    @hopelessdigger 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is a weird thing about transformers, And that is as follows:
    AC current is changing in a constantly changing rate, specifically: i = Imax*cos(wt)
    And a changing current at a constantly changing rate flowing through a coil creates a changing magnetic field at a constantly changing rate. But a constantly changing magnetic field induces a constant current in a coil.
    So, if we wrap this up, the magnetic field created from the primary coil that is changing at a constantly changing rate, induces current that is changing at a constant rate.
    So in fact, WE WOULD NOT END UP WITH NORMAL AC CURRENT IN THE SECONDARY COIL, as the current is changing at a constant rate not changing at a constantly changing rate(as current does the way we know).
    I hope I get some explanation..
    (Sorry for poor expression)

    • @carultch
      @carultch 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the windings both share the same axis around the core, and are wound with the same handedness, the waveform will be the same. Use opposite handedness in the same location, and the waveform will be inverted.
      If by contrast, the windings are on opposite sides of a rectangular closed loop core like they are in this annimation, then opposite handedness of coils means same waveform while same handedness of coils means opposite waveform. This example shows opposite sides of a rectangular closed loop core, and opposite handedness of coils.

  • @aaronameerbeg1822
    @aaronameerbeg1822 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I could be wrong about this
    but you started off explaining that DC running through the coils act as if you just have 2 wires side by side
    but as you have it going through an inductor
    it's more like a resistor with the added effect of creating a greater magnetic field
    suddenly stop that current and then you'd get a movement in the second coil
    that said it's the collapsing of the magnetic field that drives the electrons through the second coil. so the point the electron flow begins to slow down is when the electron flow in the other coil would begin to accelerate.

    • @EugeneKhutoryansky
      @EugeneKhutoryansky  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Aaron Ameer Beg, yes if the current in the first coil were to suddenly stop, current would end up flowing in the secondary coil. But, if the current in the first coil keeps going at a constant value, then nothing will happen in the second coil, due to the fact that the magnetic field is not changing with time.

    • @aaronameerbeg1822
      @aaronameerbeg1822 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great animation, but it would help if you either get rid of the background music or turn it down significantly so people can concentrate and not get distracted.

    It's unfortunate that the animation could not also illustrate that transformers also introduce a 180 degree phase shift in the AC waveform.
    Great Video nonetheless.

      For the way the coils are wrapped in this video, there should be no 180 degrees phase shift in the voltage waveform. Whether or not there is a 180 degrees phase shift depends on which direction you wrap the second coil around the magnetic material, relative to the direction that the first coil is wrapped.

    So what you're telling me in a nutshell is that, let's say I want 120 Volts to power my load. The Electric company is giving me 120 Volts, but they are far away. They are very far away so this increases resistance. Because we still want 120 Volts, V=IR and resistance increases... then I have to compensate by lowering the current, done through a transformer, and then at the end I will have 120 Volts on my load?
    Very educational and useful! Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

    don't look at the likes .. look at the views .. your videos are the best , but i forget to press the like button 80% of the times , i don't know why

      Yeah, but I think the reason why he recommends you "like" the video is :
      if you press "like" , it will automatically promote the channel on youtube's main page thru their "algorithms or whatever" -- however that works :: this will gain it more views. This will in turn get more subscribers which = more $ for this channel [if it is monetized] ;
      This may lead the channel to get some more money. More money will enable more time and resources to produce more educational videos, and maybe get outside interest, support and donations.
      [and I think this stuff is really awesome and helps me heaps].
      That's the way I think of it .
      And all people have to do for an education channel like this is press "like" to help move it forward.
      Also I think I'll chuck some $ to this channel at some point since I started watching it a few days ago, and I'm already right into it.
