I'm 54 and my first step into scooters after 30 years was a Suzuki 200 Burgman . I ride it like I stole it. It handles the mountains so well that only my skill level keeps me from going faster. I upgraded to a Can Am Ryker and is does not disappoint but it doesn't lean and it gets 24 mpg so I don't ride it much. I added a Suzuki Burgman 650 which I sold after 5 months and nearly wrecking it. It's too heavy to lean even though it was blazing fast. I just test rode a 2010 piaggio 500 and it did not disappoint. Not quite as fast as the 650 burgman but I am considering a new 530 because I need the traction and all the fancy bells and whistles that can keep me safe. I never fully trusted the 650 in the corners like I do on the 200. I couldn't do any better on the 650 outside of coming out of the corner. I may need some knee pads for the 530. They should call this thing the wet pavement and traffic killer.
Hi, I’ve watched a lot of videos on this scooter over the past 12 months and have got to say that your explanation has got to be the best yet, and very comprehensive thanks very much 👍🍻
Glad you liked. I wasn't even aware of how long it was until I rendered it but decided to keep everything in as it really is worthwhile watching for anyone who is thinking of buying or who owns a Piaggio MP3 530.
That was truly excellent! What an interesting, well-presented and informative video that was! I'm strongly tempted to go an arrange an mp3 testride ASAP. It certainly seems to tick all of my boxes. Thank you!
@@TenerifeRider For the last days I have driven the first 300 km with my 530 hpe.. Before this one I had the Peugeot metropolis 400i for a year. I do like the piaggio. It is stronger and feels more sturdy on uneven roads. The only thing I don"t like. It gives a lot of motor vibration. at idle and slow speed. I hope that will be better when it gets driven in. Did you also notice that ? ps I used your video again. I wanted to reset the trip computer . And it did not work out with the book. So thank you again. Greetings Wim.
@@wimaroI find in comfort mode it rides smoother at lower speeds and opens the throttle more gently. I did a video here on the different riding modes that might help: th-cam.com/video/Z9riumH8mIw/w-d-xo.html
You're welcome. There's lots that isn't even in the manual. I have a video coming up about the different riding modes too which I think you'll find interesting.
Hi, great review, I've been eyeing the piaggio 400cc hpe sport but at little worried about the weight and pushing it in reverse into my shed, I'm going to consider the heavier executive bike the 530 simply because it has reverse gear.
Hi there I took your advice on the mob phone support. Its great. Thanks v much. I have a question on the cruise control (if u don't mind). To activate cruise at a certain speed, I push the cruise button to the left and expect to see a symbol on the screen but nothing happens hmmm. Any advice much appreciated. Cheers
I am now 70 and was a 1%er for 13 years so never had a full DL for a bike even though I started with an Ariel 500 and ended with a '62 Bonny T120. Selling my rust heap and getting one of these things, nearest thing to a road legal bike right?
Great video mate, im from tenerife and thinking about buying this bike soon...already booked a test drive with the 400cc and i felt it too weak, the 530 is the way to go,i would ask you did you have the chance to go uphill from santa cruz to to la laguna on north highway with 2 person? does it keep 120kmh fine?thx mate
I have been on that route a few times. Just last week with my daughter and it easily holds 70 up that hill and can easily hold 120 Kmph on any hill. I typically get it to 120 Kmph and set the cruise control so then I can focus on the ride and the scenery.
I know and it lets you know JUST how heavy it is if you forget in a turn or while manoeuvring. I dropped the 400 parking one time and once it passed that point of no return I just had to get it down as smoothly as I could.
Take a look at Los Silos and Masca, there are some really tight bends there and once I got used to the weight it was easy, fun now. At first though I was very careful as it's a heavy scooter but after a few bends I got used to it. I'll post a video soon of some of these bends for you.
Thank you, brilliant explanations, much appreciated! I still am hovering about buying, I had the Tricity 125 years ago but thought the weighty steering was a downside - the power of yours plus the reverse/tilt lock has fired me up again! Please tell me, if you leave the bike locked, can anyone flick the switch and the bike fall over?
Glad it was helpful!. The ONLY way that can happen is if you lock it, walk away and leave the ignition on. Another way (and I have seen a video of this) is mounting from the right with the ignition on as your knee can catch it. Whenever I am showing the controls to anyone I always say "DO NOT TOUCH THAT BUTTON".
I had one for a year almost to the day. I had Vespa GTS 300’s before the MP3 and thats what I went back to. I have a Vespa GTS 300 HPE now. Basically I didn’t like the MP3 for mainly two reasons. One it used twice as much fuel as the GTS 300, in fact my FIAT 500 car uses less fuel. Secondly I found it cumbersome with a pillion in slow traffic, the balance device stops working when you are crawling but at hardly moving speed its hard work. I’m sure many will be OK with this and enjoy it but I find the GTS much more useful, even for touring.
On the offical sales pdf it says "a fully improved connectivity system for your phone that gives you a more sophisticated and easy view of the GPS" is this something that you have tried?
The GPS is not up to date as it has speed limits that are not correct and turns that do not exist (one way streets for example). I wouldn't cal it sophisticated by any stretch of the imagination and I certainly wouldn't pay for it when there are better FREE apps out there.
Thanks very much, super useful :) The pairing of the phone gives some headache, though, i guess its the most delicate part of the problem, as its very capricious and also it is extremely counterintuitive, especially needing to connect the phone (I don't mean the pairing), every time you step on the scooter. Thanks again, i am a technical writer and horrified by their user manual 😂 Frankly, for the most expensive scooter in their offer they could (i mean should) have done better !
You're 100% right. You would think more thought would have been put into this pretty fundamental application. Once paired it works well enough. I like the fact that I get notifications of calls and a partial WhatsApp message letting me know whether I should stop and take the call or not. However, the navigation app is like something out of the 90s and I never use it.

Great review. The best I have ever seen. I have now bought one and it arrives on Friday the 15th November. Yippee can not wait. 😁
Hello, it's summer 2024 and I've decided to give up on big motorcycles and go all scooter. I'm 55 years young and this looks perfect.
I'm about the same age and I'd agree.
62, and contemplating the same. Going to hire one of these on holiday, and see how it rides. Looks very good though...

What is your opinion on the Kymco CV3 vs the MP3?
Inferior. In a word. I have seen them, handled them and very inferior in my opinion.
Brilliant video and amazing scooter. Reverse with a rear camera! But it weighs the same as my BMW R1200RT.

No need for counter steering?
I am definitely counter steering. In fact I think I will set up the cameras top and bottom and show this on some tight twisties out here.

Hello,
My 530 is a little restless between 60-75 km/h, the steering wheel shakes a bit, but only between 60-75 km/h.Do you have that?
I get the same at 120 Kmph but I am getting the wheels balanced soon to solve that.
