- The Hangover was one of the memorable comedies that was ever made. What came after that ... not so much.
The Wolfpack shouldn't of come back.

I think this movie , Superbad, Stepbrothers, Pineapple Express, and Talladega Nights were the perfect comedies to come out during the late 2000's. I think the other movies knew they couldn't capture that magic again so they stopped after the first, I wish The Hangover did because I think it would be held in higher regard.
Great era of movies and good times
The Hangover died the day they tried to do a sequel. Something like The Hangover is a one-off story. It was a fully completed story, with fully completed arcs, and based on a premise so outlandish that it would never happen in real life even once, let alone twice or more.
Exactly. There is nowhere else to go except just repeat the same story over and over with greater diminishing returns with each iteration until it bombs at the box office.
Man part 2 is definitely my favorite of the three, i genuinely don't understand why redoing the same plot is such a bad thing since it's literally just the thing the property is known for. It's like getting upset that Indiana Jones always revolves around indy and a sidekick going after an artifact while trying to beat a dictatorships government to it, usually then being saved by said artifacts magical power. Nothing wrong with that it's literally what the audience is expecting to see
Agree! That's what I *just* wrote. It's what we expect and It's Inherently funny!
Just wrote: 3:05 But isn't a **Big part of the Fun** of the hangover that these three guys keep screwing themselves over in the exact same way--over and over again? Essentially Allen is a maniac, and he keeps creating the same waking nightmare over and over.
It's the repetition compulsion that *So Funny.* So #2 HAD to be identical to #1. That's The Joke‼️🤗😄
The fact that these guys can't have a few drinks without waking up blacked out, disfigured, and wondering if they've been sodomized Is what's so funny!!
I was a little disappointed that # 3 didn't start with all of them waking up In a pool of their own drool and vomit and broken teeth...
But instead we got John Goodman, which is almost as good.
And how could a movie with Chow not be delightful? 😄🤭🤗😋🤭🤗😄
The 2nd one is good and the extreme setting and tweaks in the scenario all work.
I love (/hate) how mean Allen is to the cool little brother. He's such a deranged child...
He threw the poor kid's neck pillow across the room in an airport! *Such* a bizarre @sshole! 😆
While I see your point , and I tend to agree for the most part, however your example you have was not a good comparison. Temple of Doom was VASTLY different from Raiders, it was a sequel but actually more like a prequelas its events took place before Raiders. The tone, action, directing, were very different. Last Crusade was a little more like Raiders and was the best of the franchise. Crystal Skull is another story.
Boo indiana jones sucks. . Goin around stealing every other cultures precious artifacts and artwork. Plus the stories are always lame
@@auntiewewe972 yeah none of that has anything to do with my point though. My point is the setup and structure is always the exact same in every Indy movie. Even if it may seem different the skeleton of the movies are the exact same
*The first Hangover movie is a modern classic of the comedy genre. Unfortunately, they decided to make two crappy follow-ups that just blatantly copies the premise of the first. Everybody knows that nobody likes a sequel that just copy of the original.*
Second was just dark. Third is just forgettable. First one I saw 5 times in theaters
First was great second was shit third in my opinion was good
Even when I saw THE HANGOVER in a theater in 2009, I thought it was already dated in a number of ways. The "Paging Doctor Faggot!" line had me laughing, but more because of the way the line was delivered than because of the subject matter itself. So many movies and TV shows from about two decades ago believed they were being cutting-edge by including "politically incorrect" humor, as if the entire world had been ruled by women and minorities since Day One. But in fact anti-PC humor had already been done to death in the '70s. Any taboo you could possibly imagine was already breached by that decade's popular culture (rape being funny, murder being funny, etc.). If you insist on being offensive, you should at least try to find more creative and thought-provoking ways of doing it.
Idk, I think sometimes people do like an near copy. Maybe I'm just a Hang Over slut, but... In't a **Big part of the Fun** of The Hangover that these three guys keep screwing themselves over in the exact same way--over and over again?
Essentially Allen is a Maniac, and he keeps creating the same waking nightmare over and over. 😆

Dark in good way I felt
In my opinion the hangover should have something what "meet the parents" did. Make a sequel under different titles and different plot or story that develops the characters while keeping the comedy
I hate that they underused Justin Bartha, especially in the second film. The second film could have had Doug involved in the main plot, after spending most of the first offscreen. But no, he sits most of that one out as well.
I think the second one should've split the group in two, group A being Phil and Stu and Group B being Alan and Doug, both teams are separated in different directions, they have to meet in Stu's wedding and find his brother-in-law, that way they both have the same want: to reunite each other in the wedding and find the kid, finding along the way what messy shennanigans they did the night before. That way you have Doug involved and the movie uses the same formula but with a twist.
Third one is harder to "rewrite" I guess, it's the more generic out of the three, so maybe have someone else get captured instead of Doug again and call it a day lol.
I love all 3 hangovers
Great video, Vee. Keep up the great work. Hangover 2=Home Alone 2. Same ideas and premise... just change the location and let the wacky antics ensue 😆
I didn't recognize Bradley Cooper from this movie. Totally forgot that I had seen this dude many many years ago in Wedding Crashers. 😂🤣
Hangover Died thanks to the 3rd and is All Thanks to the Alan Character Ruined It,I Also have a Soft Spot for Part 2.
This, like so much else you've done, was phenomenally well made! 100% undisputable
The first one was super fun to see how a black out goes for these guys and just something to see when you want to see cartoon hijinks
2 was ok for me. Not very bad or good just another entry. 3 felt like oceans 11 but not as good.
I think that the tattoo in Hangover 2 would have been really funny if it wasn't ruined in the trailers.
I remember in eighth grade watching the hangover and basically everyone I knew was absolutely in love with the movie.
By the time the sequel came out I was a freshman in high school and even at that age I could tell that somethings clearly just missing and the magic was gone.
Then I remember seeing the third movie when I believe I was a senior in high school I wasn’t even that excited for it but I took me and my ex girlfriend to the film and I remember both of us generally being kind of bored anyways that’s my experience with a hangover movies.
That's how I felt growing up in the Tom Green/Adam Sandler/Jackass era. Big Daddy was the shit. Click?? Not so much.
What I didn't like about the third hangover movie is that they turned Alan into an asshole when he wasn't in the previous films. He was a bit of a naive idiot a few times, but he was at least harmless. I only have the first two movies, because the third movie made me hate him. Being passive aggressive, insulting Stu for no good reason and we're supposed to find that funny?
Hangover 1 and 2 were the best no lie
I thought that Yasmin Lee's cameo in Hangover 2 was hilarious 😂
I actually enjoyed the 2nd hangover.
Would like to see a video on Frasier. Love this series you made.
The first one is at it's own genre a masterpiece. The second has the same plot and is definitely dumb, but entertaining enough. The third was just bad
I actually really liked the 2nd one it was very dark tho
I liked the first two. Never saw the third one. I'd still watch it if I ever get it on DVD, but I'm not expecting me to like it as much as the first two. The first one was definitely the best one in my opinion
I saw all three. first one is choatic fun and could have ended with Justin Barthas rescue but for some reason he is not in the second movie and there was no plot really in the second one. John Goodman turns up as a rival drugs boss to Ken Jeong. Goodman has held doug at his place. so the gang do a deal with Ken Jeong to rescue their friend. Dougs wife his horrible
3rd one is better than the 2nd
The hangover died when Bradley Cooper said let's Rocket.
I actually liked the third movie, the second one was like the first one but with everything multiplied by 10
I know what it's like to not sleep because of how I could remember how weird and awkward I was as a kid.
The first one was great. However, The Day The Hangover died was when Bradley Cooper got his first Oscar nomination
Who knew the same exact jokes wouldn’t work a third time around 🤷♂️
i can totally relate to falling asleep and reliving past awkward encounters...
This may be quite a throw back but Vee is the guy to do an in depth ice burg style video about Oliver...from the Brady Bunch.
Iam going to keep posting until you do it, please do a Brooklyn 99 died, I think sometime in season 5, can't wait to see the video love your work
You what a Challenge my Friend Try the Day Arrow and Once Upon a Time Died.
I think the Hangover died when they created Hangover 2 ( Although the plot is Stu is getting hitch but the same scenario but with Stu's future Brother-In-Law missing as well as Chow in trouble with the law didn't really help the sequel but it did have 2 funny moment like Stu got face tattoo as well as Stu got his 15 minutes with a stripper ).
he should have used the seinfeld at two ferns clip, where he says that if hangover never had a sequel, it would be considered a classic.
Not me realizing that I have a special place in my heart for The Hangover movies because they got me through covid quarantine when I got sick
The hangover movies are still fun and enjoyable, without a doubt. But there definitely was no need for a 2 or 3! It’s just a simple comedy movie, but they kept going like it had some kind of big universe to tell lol. I’m glad the final movie ended everyone’s character arc. But it was not needed at the end. 😓 But because the other movies do exist I don’t mind watching them again.
in all fairness, though, at least they tried doing something different with the third film; maybe it didn't hit home with many fans but at least it wasn't just a rehash of the first two
Not sure if this would be in your wheelhouse, but a "The Day _ Died" video on Primeval (and maybe it's spin-off New World) would be fascinating. I think you'd like the show.
While I absolutely enjoyed the second two, I really only remember the first. So, yeah.
Edit: wait, is that some 4d chess about having a good time and not being able to remember? Nah, but interesting.
I still enjoy the Hangover trilogy and enjoy watching.
I actually really like the way the third built on the events of the first. The second is a bit bland by way of similarity, where the third is actually a continuation of events and shows more consequences beyond that initial day of the first
the hangover is the living embodiment of why you should never make a sequel to a comedy.
Some of them can be good. "22 Jump Street," "Anchorman 2" and "Austin Powers 2" are just a few that come to mind. Also, there are animated ones like "Shrek 2 "and "Toy Story 2" that are also great.
Nice vid. How about Fast and Furious if you haven't yet
Loved the first one. The others.....not so much
You've hit upon the unfortunate paradox of the sequelized film: the first movie is not enough and the second movie is (usually) too much. Doing either a parody or a loose variation on the original film is usually the best compromise.
I saw Hangover II before I saw the first one….. therefore I like both. I’ve never seen the third one.
Horrible Bosses 2 kind of give me the same vibes if i remember correctly
Hangover shouldn't have been a Franchise in the first place.
The second hangover is fine, not as good as the first one but it's still fun
It suffers the Home Alone dilemma of “how dumb are these people to suffer the same misfortune again and again”. At least back to the future had great writing, acting and set pieces. Hangover 2 and 3 were just badly written!
The day ___ died is the reason I subbed...love these.
I only like the first hangover. The 2nd one just didn't impress me, idk.
2nd one is a rehashing of the 1st movie
*"A Serbian Film"* is still my favorite Hangover stealth-sequel
I really enjoyed the second one as well as the first. Granted I have gotten drunk in Thailand so . . .
The day it died, was the day it was released or better yet in its ideal phase.
Suggestion for a video:
The Day Total Drama died.
That 3rd movie is so in watchable
I like all 3 especially part 2
The third movie was so serious. It was not even a comedy anymore.. 😅
I think these types of movies are supposed to have the same premise on purpose. Just like the Friday movies.
5:17 ...but...the Movie didn't create an unrealistic expectation. Reviewers create those!
Maybe my fondness for these movies has to do from being female and having no expectations whatsoever. It's like,
"Oh, some dude movie; maybe it'll be funny."
And then it's hilarious! I don't turn to the Hangover movies looking for a comedy classic. Their like re-viewing Wolf of Wallstreet for me. The first time I saw it I took it seriously as a movie. A Scorsese movie! Now I use it as brain candy and comfort food. The Hangover movies are great brain candy / comfort food.
Series' that get milked to death often go to 3x the actual number of films that made them great. The Hangover had one great film out of three. Star Wars has had 12 films total, three trilogies and three anthology films. One trilogy and arguably one anthology film are considered top tier. Terminator had two movies virtually everyone loved out of six. Jurassic Park really only had one universally loved film, but Jurassic World was such a hit that one could argue it fits with two out of six as well.
At least there probably won't be four more bad Indiania Jones movies to follow 5 that is coming out soon, right?
I just came back from Vegas 🤣
That's hilarious
Do a video on terminator the Sarah Conner chronicles
Class disclaimer 😂😂
Part 2’s do it all the time, copy the first and change a little. Home Alone 2 anyone?!
Hangover trilogy is why it's hard to make a comedy sequel.
I didn't see 3. I thought 2 was ok but 2 being so similar to 1 was where I left it
All the fast and furious movies please
I also seen HO3 a few times and always forget it, I thought that only happened with me and CGI heavy movies, I wonder what is about this movie that some don't remember, is it one of those memories we repress like some type of abuse?
Not all movies needs sequels.
Saved by the bell should be next.
Tigers hate pepper, they love Cinnamon
you should do a the day new girl died video
Proof that Hollywood thinks there viewers are too dumb to recognize the same formula
Well how I see the 3 movies are-
1st Movie- Dayum! That was a Crazy ass movie!
2nd Movie- Ok, they are kinda pushing the Hangover from a Blackout situation; nobody should be going through that twice, especially in a Foreign country.
3rd movie- Ok, this is Stupid! They are clearly Milking this franchise to the point of absolute absurdity.
I need tp for my bunghole
I'm curious what you think about the HBO Harley Quinn show
Fast and furious please
Do the day Highlander died
Not on the table Carlos
Can you do the Friday movies?
1 night in Vegas
The first movie is a bachelor party version of due where’s my car where the movie is the guys trying to piece together the night before and try and find their car or in their case the groom not a franchise making movie cause after the first movie the concept is done
I enjoyed the second movie. To much chou in the third and i liked the guy.
yeah they screwed up with the sequels should've left well enough alone with the first.
Don't turn your back on the wolfpac. Ye might end up in a bodybag.
Was never alive to begin with. It was a decent one off that has since aged poorly
I think 3 is better than 2 😭
1 - 3 - 2
The 2nd movie was insulting to the audience.
How about Brooklyn 99?
Do the day American Dad died!!!!!
Do Supernatural.
The two sequels were still better than most other comedies dopey
The rufiover
Do fast and furious
The day Monday nitro died
Brooke knows best
Point out when Fast and Furious died...if you haven't already.
Where's dumb side of the ring???
Died for u i love all the hangover movies🤣🤣
I thought the second one was hilarious.
