I think knowing the reason behind the album makes it 100% better. J cole is narrating an old friends life James McMillan Jr after he was killed. The album was meant for james's daughter. GOAT
This album made me cry once it finished. My eyes opening after the last song made me realize the story, and how Cole made me understand situations I’ve never been in.
Damn dude I hadn’t heard she’s mine part 2 since the album came out. Since then I have two babies, one 2 year old and one 1 year old…can’t explain how hard I was sobbing in my car listening to you guys react to this. JCole really does stand the test of time
I totally get that, one of my friends just had a baby and I played this for him, cuz I thought he would relate Called me the next day like that was the most relatable song he’d ever heard Sometimes, it’s when someone accurately explains this feeling most can’t explain and/or put into words And Cole did that with this. That feeling of having a baby. And it becoming your entire world
@@amanSpawn00 that’s awesome I hope you gave your friend a big ass hug lol. kids change everything! I won’t call it a job cuz I’ll never consider my kids a job. But parenthood is the most stressful, exhausting and most rewarding commitment/responsibility a human can experience ✊🏽
I’m really glad you waited up until the end to explain the concept of the album so everything comes together perfectly, and he doesn’t need to go track by track trying to understand and put everything into place but just feel what the track is trying to represent
This is definitely the Cole album I feel grows each time I listen. As a writer/artist (not necessarily in music), he inspires me with his storytelling. He transcends mediums.
Man oh man I've watched every single reaction on this channel. Man the introspection your dad does is beautiful really special that you can share music with him and to see him appreciate the message is special
You are goated for this one my G!!!!!!! The feeling of this album. 6 years and it still gives me goosebumps. The end of change with the sad piano section and him crying in the background. It feels like James dies everytime that i listen to this song. That’ show great it is!!!!
My little brother told me to listen to this album, I just listened for the first time with you two. Phenomenal! I think I’m a jcole fan now😂. I enjoyed experiencing it with you 😊
Thank you so much for taking my recommendation! I feel really heard and seen. ❤ I love your channel so much and I hope to see more from you guys. Edit: I just finished the reaction, and I loved it. 💕I recommended this album because of what it means and the story that it tells. I just knew you and your father would love and appreciate it as much as I do. 4 Your Eyez Only is such a masterful piece of art. It deserves more spins.
Love watching you guys! Your dad made a great point about going though discographies so he can see the development and changes progress. (Also using this as a point to ask for KOD review next😂) especially with him sharing his history I think he’d appreciate the theme.
Awesome reaction! I think this project is amazing. It didn't get a lot of recognition when it was released but I loved how different it was from his other projects. Very emotional and vulnerable. I wonder how KOD would be received by Pop's due to the trap production. However he touches on important topics as well. Window Pain and Once an Addict still give me goosebumps! 😬
@@banjoturansko Broo. It is a great song. He vividly paints images and puts you in the scenario. Very relatable and vulnerable. The production is simple but effective. I don't think it's his best song but at the same time I wouldn't be able to tell you which is. He's a very well rounded artist and a great writer. I enjoy his music alot 😁
The meaning of Ville mentality was the mindset of niggas in fayetteville NC. It’s where j cole is from. i grew up and currently live here. It’s prideful, “give up my chain never” + the kid saying she wishes she had her dad there. A lot of killing. it’s rough on the wrong sides here.
Please do more songs from his mixtapes like too deep for the intro or the last call (not the kanye song) they are honestly some of his best work if you truly listen to the words, his flow and storytelling is insane on those. The two main ones are friday night lights and the warm up if you are curious, both fully can be found on yt and are truly worth the full listen through, any other suggestions just ask cuz ive heard just about every J Cole song, they arent as message based but they paint more of a picture about how he came up and who he is. One of my favorites is enchanted
🥲. Y'all really my favorite reaction channel these days . Lol I knew your dad was gonna be iffy at the first few tracks 🤣. But once the album calm down he was gonna start listening. This album is as far as mainstream as you can go . A really dope listening experience
Not sure if you've already done this already but my brother and I showed my dad a bunch of Kanye's stuff over the summer and he was completely blown away
One mad under rated project is that Cole Summer Mistape series. Right before born summer. Also another recommendation are all of his features. He went on his first run in 2019 and appeared in about 12-14 so basically another album. Lol Pops killed me with this one. Cheers!
Before you do Off-season I feel like you should do a video with J cole feat run/ free style that he did, he did all that basically as a role out for Off-season. It'd prob be a fun video leading up to it!
I can’t remember exactly where but up to a certain point it’s James perspective and then I think at change or after change it becomes cole’s perspective
This album is about his friend he lost though the streets life, Cole speaking first person of his friend view listen closely yall hearing it but not listening
i have to give your channel 10/10 for the albums you review only high tier hop hop albums i wish i would do this with my dad he just hates the swearing in rap,...... im request also another album since you had Saba care for me,.......what about "Smino - BLKSWN"

Seriously. That last track made the whole album click for me and suddenly tears started streaming down my face.

Truly a masterpiece. Just gets better over time. Very few compare to cole, he will go down as a legend

I remember alot of people saying this album was "boring" when it came out.
Like the clip, hosts are great, keep it coming
I love this album. J. Cole is my favorite artist. Please do The sideline story
The worst part of the Neighbors Music video is the fact that you can see the swat team trying to get rid of his security cameras

It’s just a single from Cole but man. Impeccable story telling. Easily would have fit in this album. It always gets me.
And “be free”, so powerful
You opened up the j cole gates. Please let him listen to the off-season 🙏
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Good shit boys!
Do “Angelic Hoodrat” by Kenny Mason.
One of the most underrated albums ever. He’s just starting to catch fire after a few years
