Man. You are so freaking talented. Aside from the musical talent (which is always on point), the subject matter of the songs you cover are so deep and relatable and you are able to convey that in the way you perform it! It makes sense to me as I know you to be a very deep, thoughtful, and emotionally rich person, but it's still impressive. The part that actually hit me the most about this recording was watching your facial expressions as you are waiting for different parts of the song. I can see a bit of the sad loneliness and believe you in the description that it's what you were feeling. I've always admired your combination of meaningful vulnerability and unapologetic authenticity (btw, was you being alone on the top square at the end of the song intentional? If so, brilliant). That being said, I'm sorry to hear how lonely you were feeling, and send my prayers and warm affection and hope it helps in some small way :)
You’re so kind to respond with such a specific observation, Andrew - your kindness and sincerity has always been deeply appreciated by me. Thank you! As an aside, the autumnal weather always makes me remember when a crew of us ate that phenomenal peach pie at the Marchindas, and David read Wendell Berry out loud. Remember that?? The lonely feelings aren’t so bad. They coexist with peace and goofiness and curiosity, so much held in a given day. Thank you for the warmth!
Hello my confrères! I ended up here to see what music you were making these days, Alanna, and now I see you and my friend Andrew know each-other. Small world! Lovely singing as always! Recently the song Controlled Burn came into my head and I remembered when that song literally pulled me out of a depression or some sort of slight spiritual oppression. I’ve experienced a lot of art and that was a truly rare experience. To this day there is some particularly forceful quality in that album and I was just thinking maybe it has to do with the act of - praise. I hope you are well!
Impeccable harmonies, and excellent performance.
I'm listening tonight to soothe myself with JD souther dying. You and he and this song are great.

Nice arrangement, your voice is hauntingly beautiful. Can i ask what editor y0u used for the split screens?
Wow, these Quintuplets even have similar voices.
Check out "Brothers of the Heart" Cover of this tune. I think its better than the original.
