This will be my first year on my own preparing taxes, and these videos have been super helpful in choosing software - particularly the tax software and intake software. Thanks!
Love this video ! Wish I found it before I spent weeks building out the Karbon client request portal for tax season... serious mistake that is going to take a few months to undo :')
Jason, I am on ATX. I have looked at switching to another Wolters Kluwer product like ProSystem fx or CCH Axcess, but my understanding is they aren't on the same logic formulas, and therefore very little will actually convert over. Obviously I don't want to take on the headache of that conversion. I was super excited about using StanfordTax this year for organizers, but on a call today, I found out that their integration with ATX isn't going to be complete by January. Do I sign up for it to be done manually with them this year (I can burn some admin hours during a slow December). Or should I look for something else, if so what?
If you know you're going to change software in the next few years I'd rip the bandaid off, and probably steer clear of WK. They are all independent platforms. Drake or UltraTax is my rec for most
Hi Jason, Thanks for a great video! Where in this Tech Stack picture can we find the client portal solution and some kind of CRM software for the leads and clients, assuming that Financial Cents is our recommended PM software? I was quite excited after having watched your videos on Copilot and Content Snare but didn't see them in this video. Thanks again for any insight!
If you're running a *tax* firm, I recommend pulling in a dedicated intake tool, then seeing if there are any gaps left between the intake tool and your PM I dug into this more here if it's helpful th-cam.com/video/PjmiT06OYHw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=c43YTY4VQu2xbJv6
These tools just start breaking down beyond a certain volume And there enter other considerations like how best to separate practices/locations etc I suspect much of the same wisdom applies but buying for big4/top 50 just looks different
I’m a big fan of your channel and really appreciate the amazing content you provide! I just wanted to let you know about a new TH-cam update that allows videos to be dubbed in Arabic. I believe this feature could help you reach a wider audience and increase your channel's visibility among Arabic-speaking viewers, adding even more value to your content and boosting engagement. Thank you for all your hard work, and I hope to see your content in our language soon! Best regards, Mahmoud Abdelnasser
Wait, SurePrep? Are we talking about the same software? The one that's super laggy and slow and annoying to use? The one that reads numbers right about 80% of the time? That SurePrep??
It got a mentioned at 10:35! It isn't as accessible for small firms as UltraTax but if you have existing muscle memory of it that could be a rationale to stick with it
Great Video! Thanks Jason.
My stack if anyone finds it useful:
1. Engage - Cone
2. Intake or PM - Karbon
3. Input - Drake

I love Safesend!
FYI, Soraban has tax return delivery now
What about initial client intake (Leads)? Most of these apps (I use TaxDome) require an account before the potential client can fill out any forms.

Stanford Tax assembles the 1040 PDF and bookmarks everything. I would bet it is only going to get better.
Great stuff! Why under $10m? What are the biggest changes to the stack after this point?

@@jasoncpa Excellent - thanks for all you do (conf pictures above all)
So how bad is UltraTax VO. I literally just signed up for it today?
@@charlesbates5652 It's rough, lots of outages the last couple tax season, and at least 1.5x the cost of more reliable options 😒
@@thepersonalCFO You gotta give the people what they want
The TAXch stack, as it were
yes on proconnect, but they integrate with so little.
I don’t think proconnect interacts with any of these recommendations. So I’m stuck with intuit link for another year.
This is a great point
ProConnect is opening up their API so more will come soon. I know SmartVault & Soraban is coming very soon. Karbon already has an integration.

That's the one!
When 'state of the art' isn't quite what you wish it was
What happened to CCH Access tax software?
Same questiom I've been having since the PM podcast
It got a mentioned at 10:35! It isn't as accessible for small firms as UltraTax but if you have existing muscle memory of it that could be a rationale to stick with it
Can't even imagine how many apps harvesting clients personal data. I take ride to my CPA. Everything has a price!
Your right, everything does have a price. The clients that show up in person to my office get higher fees lol
