I remember as a kid wondering were the fuck has he gone,I bought a music paper,I think it was melody maker,and writer penny valentine reviewed brown eyed girl describing him has having a voice like gravel I can't remember all the details but it was a good review.it was issued on the London American label here in the UK and it failed because of ineffective promotion,history is absolute testament to this fact.astral weeks came along later and came in for harsh criticism in the music press,radio Luxemburg played the album on kid Jenson's dimensions show,he championed the album,it is now deservedly recognised as an iconic work of art.

I believe that that "you have to keep playing or you lose it" quote at the end is what's really behind VM's crazy reaction to lockdown. He really was afraid he could lose it.
