My ex wife and I got one for our daughter when the came out. Aside from being expensive, they were ravenous battery consumers. The doll never worked quite right from the beginning and eventually fell off a shelf she’d put it on breaking its ‘jaw’ causing its mouth to move randomly, without saying anything. It freaked her out.

Look on ebay. That's where I got both of my Amazing Amanda's doll's. Read the description carefully & check the photos carefully especially when it comes to mechanical doll's. Playmates doll's were built pretty sturdy unlike some of the newer mechanical doll's being released these days. It's a testament to there time era that these doll's still turn on & work. 👍

@@CarriesReborns Amazing Amanda can hold 2 way conversations & is actually programmed to pick up on certain words / catch phrases. 🤷♀️ Playmates who made & designed the "Amazing doll line" I truly believe we're ahead of there time when it comes to the mechanical doll industry. They created: Cricket, Corky, Jil, Amazing Amy, Amazing Ally, Amazing Amanda, Amazing Allysen, Amazing Mckayla, Sweet Dreams (mechanical doll released in 1997 who does not require batteries but ran on springs to function) I had sweet dreams by playmates years ago not now. She was fascinating as to how she worked~ 👍

They are such a riot! I never had one of these until last year when I ordered on Ebay. I was curious so I placed a bid on them and won. :) They are so intelligent. :)

I had one of these as a kid I played with it in the rain and I swear to god it would never work but randomly turn on and say the creepy lines from my toy box on its own for months it kept scaring us and my mom randomly during the day she tried to take the batteries out but upon opening it they were melted and fused into the plastic it just kept working on its own one time it repeated I love you mommy 13 times in the middle of the night 😅

Amazing Amanda isn't scary. I have 2 Amazing Amanda doll's as well. I also have Amazing Amy. If you want to see real scary get Amazing Amy. Amazing Amy is Amazing Amanda's older sister released in 1998. She is very bossy / sassy like Angelica from the rugrats. I love Amazing Amanda's personality for a mechanical doll. She's so sweet & calm unlike Amy. Don't me wrong I like Amy as well I got her Christmas of 1999 when I was 12. With Amazing Amanda I tracked down all of her accessories including all of her playsets / extra outfits. I still have to do that with Amazing Amy with tracking down her extra playsets / extra outfits~ 🤷♀️✌️

@@CarriesReborns Yes. She's defently interesting lol~ 🤣 She recognizes her food accessories. I retracked my amazing Amy about a year ago online. It's interesting with her food accessories though. She asked me for a carrot & I purposely gave her her popsicle doll food accessory to see how she would react & she say's: I asked for a carrot mommy not a popsicle give me a carrot. Some how she know's her doll food accessories are different from one another. Another trick I learned with her more so for fun if you put a car key or any key in her mouth as long as it's metal she will react to it & think it's one her accessories lol~ 🤣 I'll say this much when she came out in 1998 she was heavily advertised on Nickelodeon between cartoon's back then. My parents went to several stores to get her for me & several were sold out. My parents got her on lay away at either Kmart or kohl's back then a few month's right before Christmas. If I remember correctly on her original box it said she had a vocabulary of over 10,000 word's where as Amanda has only 1,000 or 2,000 word's~ 🤷♀️✌️
I got amazing amy when she came out for Christmas that year I was probably about 5 yrs old. She was pricey back then from what I was told like 100$. I was sooooo scared of her I rarely played with her and ended up hiding her the older I got cuz she creeped me out 😂
@chanjolo4449 I also got Amazing Amy back in 1999 for Christmas but I was 12 at the time. Your right she was $100 at the time. We went to 3 different stores to track her down. At several stores we were told she was completely sold out. I think it was Kohls we managed to get her on lay away until Christmas. Both my mom & dad got her for me with out realizing they both bought the same doll. Christmas day I had 2 Amazing Amy's under the tree... My dad asked if it was ok to take one back to the store because I didn't need both. I said yeah that's fine. He left for work. Then as soon as he left my mom says to me: you don't really like her do you? & before I could really answer or think. She put her in the car with me & drove back to the store to return her. I heard the whole way: you don't really need another doll. We could really use the money on groceries... I told my dad. He said he wouldn't have taken the doll back if he knew what she was up to meaning my mom. I never forgot about Amazing Amy & retracked her back down on my own a few years ago... 🤦♀️🤷♀️✌️ I did have her new in the box when she came out though back then... 🤷♀️ My classmates in 5th grade that year bragged about getting American girl doll's to the point they brought them to school... 🤷♀️✌️ They had American girl doll's: Samantha, Molly, & I don't remember the other name of the doll but they brought in 3 different American girl doll's to school. 🤷♀️
She's such a cutie I almost bought one last night but got to tired and fell asleep and dropped my phone lol 😆 🙃 😴.

Getting an Amazing Allysen doll and not sure if you would know but can you use other accessories from other talking dolls as mine wont have her phone so could I use an amazing Amy or Ally phone instead as cant get her phone as an individual item on ebay so gotta go for something else that is availalble??
