    The Drake "whistle" took quite a bit of practice! I would describe it like a "peep" whistle.. for me it took very tight lips almost closed off. With a pretty substantial burst of air pressure. At first I assumed it had a lot to do with the way I close it off at the end. It is important to have that right closure but more so the burst of air you give and the abrupt tight force of pressure. At least for me. A heavy exhale push or " punch" from the diaphragm

    Say “wheeeeet” into the call for the normal sitting sound and roll your tongue into the call

    • @EscambianOutdoors
      @EscambianOutdoors  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a flying sound my friend

    • @alexhoffman6263
      @alexhoffman6263 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ according to the DC crew that’s the sitting sounds. Say wheet into the call which is the first sound you did and a short burst of rolling your tongue in the call which I have heard wood ducks do on water those are the main 2 sounds I do when calling wood ducks and it has worked out. Nice thing with woodies is if you know where they are they are pretty gullible and respond to calls pretty good. I had a cheaper call to learn on and switched to the dc call once I had some experience bc it’s a little harder to blow but a way better sound comes out of it

      @alexhoffman6263 I see what you're saying now, I do it a different way that works for me because the DC guys have a very vague way of explaining what exactly they're doing in the call. I should update or re-do the video because there's more than 1 way to do this I've found, and the other way may be easier. Also in my experience one of the most gullible ducks is a teal, I holler at them and they come over

      @ I agree with that. I’ve circled blue wings right back to the decoys after completely missing and they come right back. And I will agree most of the videos on their calls are a little vague. I blow calls all the time just to develop the skill a bit. And I am really starting to develop an ear for different tones of calls and one thing I can say as far as duck calls go because I’ve never blown one of their teal calls, their duck calls sound the best and every one has a different tone and sound and a sweet spot where it sounds the best with the pressure you put on the reeds. I would like to get one of their single reeds to play with that a bit I have all dc double reed calls and their specialty calls, woodie, blue wing hen, gadwall, and the whistle
