Yes, I'm old enough to know the mystery items.... love, love all the beautiful chandeliers, Brett's choice, maybe not so much, but I do like it! The crystal desk lamp with it's bird shade is a fabulous and probably a rare find, definitely a great purchase. As you probably know, you can now buy those older design woven electrical cords in many colours and colour combinations, my sister has rewired old lamps using them. As always, you both have a sophisticated sense of style... the Chateau is in good hands. Robin... don't put off a trip to the doctor, the hip will only get worse! Get well soon... from Sydney. ❤🦘

Chandeliers would not work IMHO. The crystal bases on the table lamps are fabulous as are the shades. Love the mosaic for the cave pool. Don’t envy whoever has the job of epoxy joints. It’s getting so exciting now, even more exciting I should say. Plus what a good job the Farmer did the muck spreading now and not on opening day. Love you all and hope Robin can stay the course. I take it it is the modern, rounded glass lampshade for the hallway that is the “controversial” choice? I don’t hate it at all, it’s got a very cool shape. And I can see that you are choosing something that is very plain because you are planning to hang three of the same in a row in that narrow hallway. However, I’m wondering whether the modern shape is going to look out of place there - just too plain? Have you thought about getting three glass lantern-type of lamps for that space? The hallway is quite narrow, so you want something that is not going to overpower the space or is too ornate. But classic lines might suit the hall better than a modern piece that stands out too much. You won’t find three of the same lanterns as antiques, but maybe you could go for modern reproductions instead - there might be affordable options available. Hope Robin's hip is getting better!
I love all the finds.Denise, the "lamp head" for the velvet table lamp, is for unscrew it, add the lamp shade and then attach the lamp finial (lamp head) so the shade wont move.
If you find that the big Eddison bulbs are too big for the Hallway they would be perfect in one of the outbuilding dining areas, I love them! All of the other fixtures are amazing finds and very beautiful. Well done both of you!
I love the hallway lights-that modern contrast with the traditional hallway is perfect. I do think that keeping the bedrooms traditional is in keeping with guest expectations. The modern fixtures reinforce the fact that there are modern conveniences in the chateau. Because we want the old charm and modern comforts.

You were have a hard time choosing the right stair carpet I wonder if those beautiful main stairway with the magnificent stone columns should just stay as is with no carpet. The chandeliers are stunning! That one that's going into the guest bathroom is almost etherial. I have to say, the big clear globes are a no for me and Denise is right.
Medical person here. Robin needs to hold his cane on the OPPOSITE side of his affected hip (not on the same side). When he walks, the cane and his affected leg move forward TOGETHER. This way he is sharing his weight with the cane and the affected leg at the same time and he will have Much Less Pain and allow the hip inflammation to ease up. Stair climbing - Going Up: Hold onto to cane (OR rail ) and then step up with GOOD LEG First. Going down stairs: BAD LEG AND cane ( or hold rail) goes down together. This is what I was told... but as someone with osteoarthritis that uses a cane every day - after two knee replacements plus a stage two revision on the right knee after major infection... and it's following multiple complications, more surgeries etc.... I can say it does not work for me. I am right handed and can do many things left-handed... but I can not use a cane on the left for more than a few steps. I step up with my good left leg and the stick down on my right bad side / and down, sideways with the same left good leg, with the cane - UP - still on my right bad side - this is what works for me... or I would loose balance. My left hip problem was corrected after the knee surgeries, I do lean to the right a little.. have foot problems, so sit for too long. It's all very complicated! Thankfully I only have four internal stairs, I'm almost 73.. was never "sporty" but was always very agile. 🦘

Denise, your favorite chandelier is my favorite too. Suggestion for Robin: Osteopath treatment is gentle; Supplement called MSM and Prolotherapy injections in site of damage. I used all the above for Scoliosis. Hope this helps and saves you time , money and more pain.

Love this. I have built 2 homes, one rather grand and eventually the human brain gets fried making all the decisions. Now I know this is actually biologic: our brain chemicals do get depleted. Taking a walk outside, eating something, enough sleep--it all matters so, congrats on getting as much done as you have. I am knitting for charity as I watch this and remembering all the decisions, down to switch plates and drapery fringe. Once I understood the biochemistry it is so much easier to deal with almost everything in life. brain fatigue is often not recognized but it is exactly as real as muscle fatigue and over time resilience can be learned. For our brains and our muscles it is a process.

One thing I love doing about antique lamps - and I think it always makes them look more elegant - is to spraypaint these plastic "Kerzentüllen" in black (sorry, no idea what's the english word for those creme candle covers) . It looks so much more chic! But that's my personal little obsession...😉 Love the feminine little chandelier! I have a very similar one in my office and it's so cheerfull. The plunge pool is gonna be amazing! What a place to spend a cold winter evening!

Love all the chandeliers. But, as much as I love the modern glass fixture, it doesn't strike the right note for your space. Mixing styles can be fun and fresh, but this particular one just doesn't feel right. But whatever you end up deciding, everything will look gorgeous in the end!

The chandeliers and lights yes - the oversized light bulb thingys..... let's see them up before deciding 😊 I love the banter Denise, you're really getting it! Builders are terrible for looking after themselves - they don't! Robin needs a new hip from the look of it 😔 Tell Harry to wear a mask when cutting the tiles - all that dust is going into his lungs. Tell him chippies are 4x more likely to get lung cancer - the dust! Medical studies have proved this. The cave is gonna look amazing, but wow, the work is brutal to finish it all 😮
Chandeliers are magnificent, Love the bird lamp and the gold shaded lamp, the shabby chic hallway lamps are not in keeping with the chateau, but you never know until they are up? I love the warm tones of the cave and the green tiles are the bomb. I am really starting to appreciate your style Denise well done how exciting. Yes Robin needs a hip replacement if not an injection . It will help the poor guy, been there done that.

Wonderful! Just wanted to say that don't mind the various opinions all too much. :) Trust your own marvelous eye! You have truly magical gift of creating and blending the old with modern calm elegance. I love seeing the transformation. Hopefully you keep going and also work your magic to the formal rooms, like the Grand Salon etc. in the years to come. Not all ppl seem to understand that you are not creating a museum but a living/working home. And also its very historically accurate to have certain modernization in the chateau. That has been done in pretty much all centuries old chateaux as well for multiple times over the years they've been used! At least to me, its the best part of you channel and also sets you guys apart from others. I follow various chateau channels for various reasons. Of course nothing wrong in doing more of restoring the old, but equally restoring and modernization is great.

The chandeliers are gorgeous. As for for the more modern lights - they don't seem shabby chic - I think the are STUNNING! Not sure if they will work, but certainly worth trying. They'll either look fabulous or clash badly. I'd certainly use them in my home though.

Poor Robin, I hope he sees a doctor sooner rather than later. The chandeliers are gorgeous, but still on the fence about the big glass globe for the hallway. Seeing it up is believing! Robin take care of your hip and I hope you can get treatment soon. Denise and Brett love all the chandeliers and the big light fittings will be great for such a long hallway and high ceiling, if Denise doesn’t like them they can go in a covered outdoor entertaining area. The bird lamp and velvet lamp are my taste and magnificent 😊
Ahahahaha well the hall lights a different but one thing they do well in France is mixing contemporary with antique. You love, I love it 😊

Love all the chandeliers. But, as much as I love the modern glass fixture, it doesn't strike the right note for your space. Mixing styles can be fun and fresh, but this particular one just doesn't feel right. But whatever you end up deciding, everything will look gorgeous in the end!

Chandeliers are magnificent, Love the bird lamp and the gold shaded lamp, the shabby chic hallway lamps are not in keeping with the chateau, but you never know until they are up? I love the warm tones of the cave and the green tiles are the bomb. I am really starting to appreciate your style Denise well done how exciting. Yes Robin needs a hip replacement if not an injection . It will help the poor guy, been there done that.

Wonderful! Just wanted to say that don't mind the various opinions all too much. :) Trust your own marvelous eye! You have truly magical gift of creating and blending the old with modern calm elegance. I love seeing the transformation. Hopefully you keep going and also work your magic to the formal rooms, like the Grand Salon etc. in the years to come. Not all ppl seem to understand that you are not creating a museum but a living/working home. And also its very historically accurate to have certain modernization in the chateau. That has been done in pretty much all centuries old chateaux as well for multiple times over the years they've been used!
At least to me, its the best part of you channel and also sets you guys apart from others. I follow various chateau channels for various reasons. Of course nothing wrong in doing more of restoring the old, but equally restoring and modernization is great.

The chandeliers are gorgeous. As for for the more modern lights - they don't seem shabby chic - I think the are STUNNING! Not sure if they will work, but certainly worth trying. They'll either look fabulous or clash badly. I'd certainly use them in my home though.

Sorry Brett but those modern lights are not what I would imagine finding in such an amazing Chateau but maybe they will surprise me! Who knows? Love the shades, cigarette holder and ornate tongs.
