How he remembers all those facts is amazing, I served over 24 years in the RAF and have trouble recalling a lot of stuff during my service! We are so lucky to have had men and women such as Bernard serving during WW11, without their courage and fortitude, it would never have been won.
Not a lot known or written about the Signals Lads and lasses in the RAF. I served in the Tactical Communication Wing. First in and always last out. Provided signals for everything from UN Aid operations to forward air control. We spent our time like small bands of gypsys -self supporting - with all the forces foreign and domestic. Northern Ireland, Belize, Norway in a snow hole! You name it we did it. Lebanon in 83 with the US Marines. Not all the RAF wears Blue. Look up the RAF on Omaha Beach. Now there is a story.
