    SHOW OFF!!! LOL. OMG.....long live the King! Jim, this left me speechless! First, 4 HOLLYDALE'S??? What a statement. Love the parade route, the hot air balloons are amazing and the music....perfect! Also the parking garage, so realistic as well as a lot of buildings that are so unique. The cinematography is top notch! The helicopter on the roof of the police station, oh my! Your kitty at 6:34, perfect! Loved how you incorporated all the holidays celebrated, Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa...truly a story of inclusion, I applaud this! And then there are the celebrities the Beatles, Obama's, Rockettes, Elf, man the royalties you are paying out LOL. And my favorite is how you included the girls in the video, from the billboards to the live shots of them around town, you are their hero (mine too). Thank you for this beautiful work of art. You have put me in the Christmas mood my friend, for this is by far the BEST village I've EVER viewed! Congratulations. I vow to be back next year, I want to give you some competition, although, I don't think this one can ever be topped! Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family. Wishing you much health and happiness in 2021! Your friend Pam

      I'm blown away that I could impress the QUEEN of Christmas videos! Thank you truly for your kind words. Four Hollydales (and four Jingles Dept Stores) make nice large block-sized dept stores. The hot air balloons were eBay pieces off somebody's old broken cheap Trendmaster Mainstreet Parade animated display. The parking garage and police station are o-scale Menard's model train buildings -- easy peasy 4.5 volt plug-ins. It took me a year to find a Kwanzaa figurine the right size. The first thing the girls noticed at Thanksgiving (first viewing) was their billboards! As you taught me -- follow the song and make the characters and vignettes fit the lyrics. A minor hobby of mine is searching for excellent obscure Christmas songs.
      I'm pretty sure that next Christmas season a certain blonde master villager will burst onto TH-cam wielding a flamethrower of a village video. There's nothing that can match a good woman inspired! If the pandemic will lift, I hope to stop in for lunch at the famous PJ's Deli next summer on a trip east. Stay healthy, happy and Merry Christmas. Your admirer, Jim

      It always seemed natural to me, especially the corner buildings like Hollydale and Jingles department stores. That way they take up a whole block. If D56 and Lemax won’t make large buildings then we have improvise. I live in an urban neighborhood and many homes are tight together and look very much alike. Thank you for your nice comments.

    • @jpetersgolfpro
      @jpetersgolfpro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much, Marybell. My friend Dave Somerwill designed and built the parade mover. I've gifted it to another villager -- pammyj100. None of my local peeps wanted it. Pammy turned it into a clever Covid horse race in 2021: th-cam.com/video/FoEDQFt4Jxg/w-d-xo.html. The top down view gives you the hints on its construction. It has a tygon tubing belt that runs in a groove to a motor & pulley which has a tension bar w/ pulley. The roadway runs on tiny wheels atop another wooden circle w/ big holes for wiring for the buildings. If you watch my 2020 movie trailer, you can see laying on its side alongside the pile of unopened boxes.

      @jpetersgolfpro  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marybelltorres-medina1862 I found your TH-cam channel! I remember seeing your parade pictures on Facebook in one of the groups we belong to. You and Passenger PTC both have good-looking parades, but there's almost no crowd watching. It takes a while, but look for figures that are standing shopping or look like they are observing something. It's okay to get doubles or triples because you can paint their clothes a different color or place them far apart. What good is a parade if hardly anyone comes to see it? A big hint: turn your smartphone sideways and see if there is a way to take pictures in 16x9 aspect ratio. Also, use a small tripod to keep the camera very steady. Or, just use pictures like slide show.

      @@TheVillageCollector Very cool! And thank you.
      I have been collecting and writing pieces & snippets about how to "professionalize" making a village video. I did a 1-hour seminar at the last NCC Gathering. There's too much stuff to explain to make a TH-cam video that would be less than 40-minutes -- who would watch all that? I've also thought about making it a website. I have an free empty site on Weebly (my golf teaching business uses the other site). You know, The Big Crab Cake started one that is mostly is a compilation of his videos but still fairly sparse on helpful hints for construction and zero on video techniques. There are scads of videos on elements of building your village, but next to nothing on how to best show it off, much less how to use your video to evoke emotions or tell a story. Whadda ya' think?

    Jim, this has got to be the best Christmas Village video I have ever seen and all so professionally filmed and produced and the most important part of this village is the humour you add and the obvious love you have for your family. There's just one thing missing from my list of perfect village ingredients...........O-scale trains, the movement would add another dimension, I know you have your moving road system, which in itself is awesome and it's even more to set up and take down, but it would add another layer of magic to your already magical creation. It's in no way meant as a criticism, it's probably because my Dad was into trains and now it's in me too. He'd turn in his grave at the scale inaccuracies of the Christmas Village genre though 😅. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful creations year after year, you've set the bar high for others to aim for, and how will you follow that next year? I for one can not wait to see.

    • @jpetersgolfpro
      @jpetersgolfpro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your kind words. That roadway is giving me fits with consistent operation. Way back in 2011 when I made my first video, after watching hundreds of village videos, I imposed on myself four "rules" so that my videos would be different and stand out -- no trains (I've had a trolley & cars), no carnival rides (in winter?!?), no ski mountain, and no layering or shelving. It just seems that everybody has one or more of the Four. I know well that motion catches the eye so I look for other ways to include that. The scale "inaccuracies" change the dynamic from a model train -- the train dominates, the buildings and people are secondary -- to the people and their vignettes -- people respond emotionally to other people and their situations. The music is a huge emotional tug, too! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

    Whew is right! That was a lot of good info. Thanks for answering. I do have the EZ Street Expressway meant for only one car. Bachman said I need to contact a hobby or train store to get help expanding the track, adding cars and having the right power supply. The stores I’ve contacted have not been especially helpful. What was your power supply? Pammy said she hooked hers up to the HO train transformer

      Pat, I've had three cars running on the single Expressway Set loop. Just place the next car you buy onto the track. I used the transformer that came with the Set. Pammy had two loops in her last video, so maybe the second loop used a different transformer that worked. I didn't have that much luck. Oh my!!! I have been asking Pammyj100 how to put more than one car and expand the track of EZ street. Bachmann tells me I need a command center. Would you, could you please advise? Thanks for any help you can give. Pat

    • @jpetersgolfpro
      @jpetersgolfpro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching. I'll try my best to answer your questions.
      I count "structures" -- buildings, bridges, lighted boats and roadway systems. There are 175 on 164 square feet of tables.
      It takes me most of November to lay it out, hook everything up, and accessorize. The first viewing is for the family at Thanksgiving. I take picture and video clips during construction of finished sections, while I have close access. The video takes about 3-5 days to put together.
      E-Z Street motion scenes this year are on the editing room floor. I've done plenty of them in previous villages, and I try to get close to 15-minutes of video total.
      A friend of mine designed, built and loaned the parade mover to me. As he says, "You can't afford it."
      I'm not a model railroad fan or expert. One of my self-imposed rules is to never have a train in my village -- everybody seems to have one. If you bought the E-Z Street Expressway Set it comes with a transformer specially made for the system. You can add extra vehicles by just placing them on the track. Even though you can dial speed on the transformer, the two cars (or more) will not run at the same speed (due to differences in wheel lubrication and electrical contact efficiency). I bought extra track on eBay -- 5" straight, 10" straight, 16" and 21" diameter curve sections, 2.5" straight-to-curve connectors, 2.5" straight-to-straight, 2.5" curve-to-curve and Y-connectors. You must keep the vehicle wheels and motors lubricated -- they sell a special lube for that (item #99981). You can buy extra track under the Bachmann brand, or Lionel Superstreets or K-Line Superstreets, both brands of which Bachmann purchased and are compatible. Whew!
