I wish people would get over the fact that the Blazer is no longer an off-road. They may, eventually, produce an off road version. However, until they do, folks need to stop crying about it. It's been 5 years. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's fair, and I am guilty of a lot of that crying! 😄 For me, I'm just bummed that GM doesn't have a truck to compete with Bronco or Wrangler. I'm sure it didn't make financial sense to do one, but I'd buy one if they did.
@@vehiclenanny same here my friend. I'm sure I'd be right in line with you. 😁 i love the blazer, but the thought of an off road variant sounds like a lot of fun.
I never understood why anyone would want to take a high dollar car in rocks and mud anyway. Just get an old Jeep.
Seems like from my prospective GM is forgetting what they started with the Bolt EV making things low cost and keeping the vehicle cost down. 60+ k for this seems a bit much right now when considering other comparable options. Hard to justify the switch to EV when they companies make them so dang expensive
When the Bolt was made, prices for materials were also about 40-50% lower than they are now with inflation. Even when this was announced a year ago, the price of the SS model was set at $66K. I'm sadly not surprised at all at this giant price hike.
Wong Do not like it😢🤮
I agree with GM naming it Blazer. They're paving a new road for their on road SUV portfolio. They already have an off road Hummer EV. With any success they can easily expand that Hummer product line too. Maybe even make it a sub-brand. Like what they'll do with Corvette in 2025. Chevrolet needs an established sporting SUV. Blazer is it!
I would check the specs...I think the RS is 288hp with the 85 Kwh battery.
Yes, check the video description.
Good overview! I drove one yesterday, a beautiful car but No CarPlay is an unnecessary omission… Why? I checked and GOOGLE play has Alexa and Amazon music so maybe that’s a work around but I don’t know yet. The car, again is smooth as silk with very aggressive design. We love our Bolt EUV which really is perfect for us. I’m glad you pointed out the one pedal driving because I’m used to that on the Bolt, it works great, I rarely ever use my brakes and it does increase mileage range. I’m looking forward to replacing our HONDA CRV hybrid and hoping to see the Honda Prologue version using the Ultium battery. Great first look! Thanks!
Thanks for watching.
I’m a die hard petrol lover or ICE engine lover don’t even know what u call it but this type of electric car makes me hopeful if this is the future I just want a regular car make it the same as what we drive now just with a different power source if this got be the future just give me a normal car not a space ship
Agreed
I get mine Saturday at 12:30. I’m so excited.
Enjoy it!!!!
Dude the buttons are awesome --- I love that it gives options --- I desire both --- Not everyone wants just a touch screen
I love the look of this vehicle. Mine will arrive next month to the dealership ❤
Love the red paint job
Yes!
So you think calling it a Nomad would be less offensive than Blazer?! I don’t think so, Tim.
lol... how so? At least the Nomad was a wagon, which is what this is despite the brand trying to call it an SUV. Whereas the Blazer was originally an off-road, body-on-frame beast.
I don’t understand why they did not utilize the space under the hood. No Frunk smh
It’s curious, but in my experience, front trunk space isn’t always that usable. Would have still been nice though.
@@GTGarageTalk pullout table something creative not just plastic unless I can remove it and use it for a sled going down a hill in the winter time lol lazy engineering
Who cares?
Just because it don’t mean anything to you doesn’t mean it’s not an issue.
I agree. Either put in a frunk or make the hood shorter and put more cargo room in the back.
I enjoy driving without moving my foot off of the accelerator. It takes a few days to get used to it, but it really helps to reduce my shin splint pain.
Thank you for this complete review. I would like to test drive one too.
I drove a Cadillac Lyriq a few weeks ago and I loved that a lot.
Glad it was helpful!
It looks really nice, however there are some big problems with it that are going to keep these sitting on lots unsold. This trim needs to be right at $50k, and I would advise anyone interested to wait till they get a NACS port and another solution to that badly designed charge door. I (and most others) have a serious issue with removing Android Auto and Apple Carplay as well, it in fact is a deal breaker for me. Im actually seeing these on lots near me at MSRP already, so not really in big demand already.
Good stuff, way to be one of the first!
Thanks Robby!
It helps to drive the Blazer EV over a 24 hour cycle to get night and day running experience before telling GM no buttons are needed. Definitely needs manual control over the intellibeam. Needs a more convenient quick single wipe for the front windshield wiper like most lever controls offer.
I’m fine with everything being software-based. All those switches and dials were out. It’s so much easier to navigate through the screen to take care of any issues you need.
🤷🏼♂️to each their own.
I do like the style of the Blazer EV vs the current gas Blazer. I never cared for the upsweep of the rear quarter glass on the gas Blazer.
Same
Leave the headlights on Auto... Why do people want to turn them on and off manually? I can't take a single trip at night without seeing a vehicle with no headlights on.
I generally do, but in the rare instance when auto does not turn them on and they are needed, it’s an annoyance.
Hey Kid! The Nomad term was on a '50s gas car-not the image GM wanted, I would guess!
Have you seen an ‘80 Blazer????
That price may be a problem, but it's larger than the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, VW ID.4, or Nissan Ariya, one does wonder if Chevy is planning a 1-2 punch with the Blazer EV and smaller Equinox EV, it's like about 2 inches shorter in overall length, wheelbase about 6 inches shorter, width about 3 inches shorter
I don't like the loss of Apple Car play, it actually has me rethinking buying a Blazar
It’s only on GM EV products. If you get a gas Blazer, you should be good.
The EV AWD is the one I wanted though.
Your video did a really nice job showing it off.
@@johntracy2153 Thank you.
Great review, this is the first one I've seen. I currently have a Mach-E and was considering this for my next vehicle but between some of the design choices and lack of CarPlay I took it off my list. Plus, GM appears to really be struggling with Ultimate platform vehicle production so I'd be surprised if they can make more than a thousand of these a month in 2024. And as a result of the low supply we're gonna see greedy dealers try to mark these up, and I would never pay over sticker for this thing. So basically it's a non-starter. Maybe year 2 or 3 I'll come back around to see where they're at with this.
Thanks for watching.
I can confirm, at least here in Texas, EVs are selling at a discount, not a premium.
In Massachusetts, like other states Evs are actually the same or lower priced than Ice. It's 11k less than ev MSRP with all incentives. It's a win win for everyone and eventually when battery prices go down to less than 5k, almost there, evs will be cheaper, faster, cleaner, and won't need incentives. Gas is going to always go up while electricity prices has been stable for decades and will actually go down as more renewables come online like in other countries who are pushing faster than usa. Electricity will be free eventually. Quote me on that.
20:00 I drive in a lot of areas in the mountains and the deserts that have no cellular coverage and until our vehicles can receive satellite data and GPS signals, nothing but previously downloaded music and podcasts will be available. A $100 aftermarket gps system will work best for driving until you get cellular coverage back. Your much touted Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were worthless to us on the backroads of Yellowstone. Very few cars are available anymore with built in maps and navigation. You know that you have it when they are trying to sell you updated versions.
Good review. It’s an attractive vehicle inside/out. But, I’m confused as to why the Corvette and Silverado EV gets a frunk but this line of vehicles doesn’t. Missed opportunity I think. On the key fob, what does the “x2” do? There’s nothing to start so I’m curious what that actually does. Curious how the ‘Blazer App’ will operate and how we can manipulate the vehicle from a distance. I agree, the charge door worries me too.
Good initial start for GM, great design and execution. Can’t wait to see it adapt to NACS so road trips will be less worrisome.
The Corvette is much lower to the ground and the Silverado has the front of the nose go up with it... The way the components are laid out under the hood you can't do that with the Blazer, it's also much higher so you'd have to lift stuff into the frunk... You could possibly get a frunk in the 2WD RWD version, like the Chinese Lyriq.
I think it might also vary with the AWD/FWD vs the RWD. The inverter and motor controllers are up in that area and if there is also a drive unit, it might take up all the space. It'll be interesting to see if you get a little space on the RWD models...
I think it means if you press it twice it will open the truck. Their software is simple 10 years behind Tesla. Good thing it's made by Google and not GM cause they would make a mess if they did everything. It's still not nearly as clean as Tesla but better than their last attempts.
The problem when a company uses a third party supplier for their code is that if/when something needs changing (either minor or major) the company is at the mercy of the supplier, both in terms of cost and delivery time.
Then it must be tested for unintended interference with code driving other things written by other suppliers.
The result is that the legacy manufacturers put up with problem or inconvenience issues far longer than a company that writes all its own software, like Tesla.
@@FoamCrusher GM is making sure stuff like this doesn't happen anymore with uServices and uProtocol they just released in two different open source communities to all. THis is to use a shared API so it's much easier to program for the vehicles and update software. GM is making it available to the whole Auto industry. GM will be pushing their suppliers to use it so there will be no conflicts, no bloated code, and a much faster turn around time for fixes.
This is bad ass but your right no vehicle should be called a Blazer unless it's a off road machine.
😉
20 century vehicle, times/names can change
I do believe his power numbers are off. I’m told the awd is 288hp with 350 torque
You are correct. That was a casualty of the info supplied by the dealer in lieu of official info from Chevrolet. It has been corrected in the video description.
and I don't think it's available in rear wheel drive - these are large miss quotes!
@@martysherlock4825 It is the only vehicle on the market that IS available in FWD, RWD, or AWD.
Thank you for the great review. But no 0-60 time?
No. Sadly, I have no official equipment. And even still I was highly unimpressed as you can tell by my face.
Who cares?
We have the ford Mach e gt and hate how rough the ride is. You feel everything! We came from a 2018 suburban which was like driving on a cloud in comparison. We dislike the Mach e so much we are considering trading it in on the blazer ev and plan to test drive one soon. Wanted to get your opinion on the suspension and how rough the ride was compared to the Mach e gt? Thanks
I, sadly, have not experienced the Mach E GT, only the Premium AWD. I will say this should be softer and more cloud-like than the GT. Typical EV ride
No carplay No buy. Saw one of these at the dealership today and its very nice but after owning a tesla im not doing no carplay again.
That’s important for me as well
Great review
Thank you.
I think he got the RS and the SS mixed up with the power numbers… the RS only has 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque! 😕
Correct. I was given incorrect information on the day of filming. And Chevrolet had no official release of power numbers when it was recorded either.
Correct numbers are in the video description.
I actually don’t get the point of the blazer Ev if it isn’t going to be a third row EV? The have Equinox EV which isn’t that much smaller than the Blazer. Just seems unnecessary
Same here. I have a reservation on the Ev9. Sounds to me a better value.
The same argument could be made against the gas versions of the Equinox, Blazer, and Traverse. Apparently there is (in GM’s planning) a market for a larger, premium 2-row.
Did nobody else catch when he started it that at 34 miles the message service driver assist system warning is on?
That is because it is still in a dealer service mode. And it would be resolved as soon as it is set up before its first owner.
i was expecting storage in the front. The back of the back seat was all wrinkly. The shifter is like a tractor
Hermoso auto, bien GM
I would like this car at 40k
Yes.
With the $7.5k rebate, yes you have your $40k blazer😊
@@phileasler5401 the MSRp on these is 60k. 7500 wont get you to 40k
Where did you get the horsepower and torque numbers from? Everywhere else I'm seeing is claiming 288/333 for the RS and 195kW DC charging, and 557/650 for the SS with a 105kWh battery and 195kW DC charging. The 498/531 numbers are only for the police version.
Also: THERE ARE PHYSICAL CONTROLS FOR THE LIGHTS! How is everybody missing these?
Check the video description. 😉
@@GTGarageTalk whoops. >.< damn I'm tired. I don't usually miss those lol. Sorry!
Agree with others here, no frunk in such a long and wide front hood is crazy. Cant imagine Fiskers Pear will have a frunk and 6 seats.
Im willing to wait the 2 years for a more affordable and better space utilized vehicle. Chevy can kick rocks with that over priced mess. Fisker is also American, so still clutching my jingoism😂.
The Blazers are built in Mexico. The Fiskers are built by Magna in Austria. Can't see where the made in America claim is based on!
@hvu6037 I said American, not made in America. Very little products are actually made in America. The Pear by Fisker, will be made on American soil by a Chinese company. Lol.
Which makes it qualified for the EV incentives, and the 380 mile range will beat out the Blazer by a lot. Looks better than the Blazer RS too, maybe not the SS.
288hp and 333tq for the awd rs
Correct.
I was given inaccurate info and you can tell by the disappointment on my face when accelerating. I’ve corrected the vehicle info in the description.
Does the Chevy Blazer EV RS have V2L? I can't find the answer on the official site or using google. I wish you'd post measurements also; I'm especially interested in the length of trunk with the seats folded down.
Unfortunately none of that information is available yet.
What’s a V2L?
@@tyalderdice4980 vehicle to load. Ability to charge other devices/vehicles from the charge port
Don’t see how this can compete with the EV6 from Kia. I own an EV6 and this doesn’t seem to compete well.
We’ve had a couple EV6s and would agree.
Can it charge on Tesla chargers?
Not this one, but the brand is converting to the Tesla plug (NACS)
Can't wait to test drive a real Equinox EV!
👍🏼
Be prepaid for heart breaks. I suspect 45-55k will be the real price for the Equinox
@@JDDevice It's GM who needs to prepare for heartbreaks. I suspect very few people will be willing to pay 45-55K for the Equinox.
For that kind of money, I would rather stick to my beloved Bolt EV.
Leonardo DiCaprio is out here reviewing cars🤔 come on he looks like him. Lol
🥂
Great-looking exterior! GM needs to put a frunk in, even a small one would be good. And the dash board vents are incredibly ugly and unnecessary. Customers are demanding simplicity and minimalism, not more fake chrome knobs and vents. Tesla takes minimalism to the extreme and Chevy is overdoing the clutter. The Nissan Arya has it just right. Hope these sell well and start to see them around the country. I waited for the Equinox EV but couldn't wait any longer and bought a Tesla Model Y, and love it!
Prefer the clutter, I like access to controls don’t want to dig through screens or feel around for tiny buttons.
As a MYP owner, unlike other car companies, you don't have to "dig" through the setting for ordinary settings. The wheels on the steering does everything and is programmable. Imagine if you had all the buttons you might need on your smartphone instead of a screen. It will eventually be the same thing. You can make new software button where you can't do that with physical. Just test drive a Tesla and I think you will enjoy it. @mrartist I think this is what everyone will do too. Look at the blazer and just buy a MY for 15k less and more power, space, and real charging network.
Carplay and AA are available still.
Nope
Onstar information was looking at two days ago says phone projection is still available.@@tyalderdice4980
Apple car play is a must 😮
I know, right?!?
$60k for 288hp when for $2k more you can get an AWD Lyriq which gives you an additional 212hp, 190kw charging and 50 mi more range and not have to deal with Chevy service. Love the Bolt and Hummer but the Blazer is gonna be a huge flop.
Interesting point.
Wowwww. $60k Ouch. I'm sure they will sell all they can build, which likely won't be many. They prob still loose money on them at that price.
🤷🏼♂️
@@GTGarageTalk Guess we will see what the Equinox costs when it's finally released. Was really hoping GM would do at least as good as Kia and Hyundai with these new platforms... 😒
they should have called the XOLT or YOLT or PLULT
😂
What is all this pee under the vehicle?
A/C condensation
Ac dude, ac
There is No tools to change a flat tire.
The heaviest SUV EV on the market. At 6K lbs. its a brick, definitely not an efficient vehicle. Why so heavy? And at $60K MSRP, why so expensive? Ford Mach E’s weight is 4,900 lbs. price 49K. Tesla Model Y weight is 44K lbs. price 44K.
Rear windshield wiper… what the hell is even that?!
Lol
Robocop will like to drive a police Chevy Blazer EV.
Lol
No engine and no frunk?! 3:)
Correct. Though they aren’t alone with that philosophy.
nomad would have been a stupid name , like the mustang mack e
🤷🏼♂️
Which ones faster ...... blazer or Mach E ? Lol
Depends on the trim, but we had a Mach E a couple of years ago that felt faster. 🤷🏼♂️
Who cares? Are you going to race? 🤡
Gm missed opportunity no front trunk, shame
You think a small frunk is really a game changer/dealbreaker?
@GTGarageTalk no but would be nice, instead of all that uselless plastic, they should ask tesla how it's done , maybe the ass holes can learn something.
Frunk is not that really important to most people, if it is, go for comrade Elons selection
60k?... Chevy. Lol. Thanks, I'll go with infiniti, bmw or Mercedes for that price. Insanely overpriced
A comparably priced Mercedes EQ would be the EQB, this is bigger and nicer than that. It really is the size of the EQS SUV which is way more expensive.
EV no good.
I mean, they have their place.

That's a electronic toy Chevy Blazer because it has no gas and oil. The kids and children will like electric cars as electronic toy cars.
There is oil in it, but not engine oil.
Less buttons the better, getting in a car now with buttons everywhere is annoying
There is a balance.
Lol. Umm. Naw. Driving is a lot different from daily cellphone use. High speeds, inclimate weather, street racers, pedestrians, road debris... driving requires way more attention. Muscle memory to adjust basic things should not be overlooked. Tesla insurance rates are skyrocketing, I'm not saying there's a relation, but it's happening.
@@GTGarageTalk seems like Chevy has the balance! 🤣
@@JDDevice um yeah I have been driving my Tesla for just under 3 years. I get in my wife's Kia and it feels very dated have buttons and knobs for everything. Tesla is extreme with almost no physical buttons but it works well.
As far as the Tesla insurance do you understand how the rates are set with them? You are just making an assumption not fact based.
@@JDDevice My Model 3 Performance is just slightly more than my Bolt was, so Im not seeing this.
