I don't think he's disgusted by China's culture just eating bugs. If there was another part of the world (even America) that ate bugs this way I think he would react the same way.
@@tistlmnot That's true. But it is also true that those are different insects prepared in different ways. I imagine eating fried cockroaches (I think that's how they were prepared) would be different than eating couscous salad with roasted meal worms. I do agree that calling it "garbage" in their home is disrespectful. Some other things: 1. I don't think that what's being shown here is a popular Chinese custom. They said in the video that it can be common in certain rural areas. Would a Chinese person from a city react in a similar way as the presenter? 2. In part one there was a chef specializes in preparing meals with bugs who admitted that he doesn't enjoy eating them either. Maybe this is about race. Or maybe eating insects prepared a certain way is just something you get used to the more you do it.
I find it interesting that its gross and ew when he's eating with native Chinese but quietly eating without making faces with the white people near the end
I like that it is easier to listen when they speak the same language, so you just have to read subs and not switch back and forth... There is room for improvement for his tact.
*steps on a few roaches* whoops. i would add another animal in the process to further "filter" the material. consuming roaches like that doesn't seem sanitary, specially when you dont really control what the roaches are eating. some of the stuff the roaches consume might not even be digested yet. i would feed the roaches to some other animal, like chickens, fish, or pigs.
Kind of rude to make a comment in English about how they’re eating garbage. Say it in Mandarin so they can know how you really feel. Please!!!
This is like garbage? Are you kidding me? They let him into their home
Please dont EVER invite him to another interview
why did he put the affort in learning Chinese if hes disgust by its culture???

I came here to watch why many Asians eat them. Not to listen to your opinions fool. Respect.
hes really rude nd making fun of them nd their culture if he wasnt read to eat then why did he sign up for it
Kinda rude
Hahaha cockroaches are escaping the hot tub 11:07 and he politely puts 'em back
Informative and humerous.... I got a kick out-a Josh.
There is a mistake in the subtitles is not Jiangsu is Shenzhen (Guangdong)
If the interviewer himself is criticizing the food then how is it going to appeal the viewers? You used many bad words.
that doudan scene of the chef crushing them outside the restaurant reminded me of that Willy Wonka scene in the movie where he eats the green sludge

Plant meats are perfectly digestible, despite what the bug salespeople tell you. No need to farm bugs to eat sustainably and healthily.
Don’t bugs have parasites/diseases
from 17mins on, you guys keep saying shenzhen, but subtitles keep writing jiangsu, that's totally different place
I wont eat cockroaches, sorry.

Looks like a tomato hornworm.
