I was in Nujabes apartment with him when he put the Nas vocal on his instrumental. It was an intense experience. I barely knew him, he was a friend of my girlfriend at the time and he ran a great small record shop in Shibuya which I visited and we ended up hanging out all day. He made several attempts with the acapella and did the whole thing direct from a turntable over the track, no editing. Very nice cat and the record blew up in the underground obvs. RIP Nujabes. RF
Its such a amazing memories you had, as a huge fan of him I tried to collect as much as photo about him as posible and find every videos has him. but overall those are just images and hardly can make me feel what he was like as a real living person. and its amazing to hear stories about back when he was alive..
This video deepens my appreciation for the work of Nujabes and all of the artists that he worked with during his lifetime. I remember discovering each song one by one on TH-cam when I was in middle school. I've been bumping his music ever since and it keeps getting better and better for me! I'm continuing to discover more about him 15 years later. It trips me out that Nujabes and J Dilla have the same exact birthday and that Nujabes passed on my birthday. There's so much art and history here that I can connect with!
Nujabes is a hip hop legend, his way of understanding and feeling music, reassembling samples in a very complexe manner that seem so simple at first while keeping it beautiful, his wish to connect people from all over the world trought music, on a tribe guided by rythme, everything made him great. Even his tragic accident made me realise that life is only borrowed and that I needed to share as much as I could while I still had time, not because of a selfish need but because somebody might need it in the future. He thaught me peace, humility and made me realise that we need faith in ourselves as well as others to feel fulfilled, and that kindness and warmth are still nedded in this world, that music is mine, and music is yours.
I learned from somewhere that Nujabes was paranoid about extracting samples in its original form. What a blessing it has been to his fans and future listeners.
My favourite artist, a genius with a sort of mystic energy that he was able to put troughs his production. I fly every time a listen his music, rip king ❤️
the sample for who's theme is still one of the most beautiful i've heard (along with jay z's sample in dead president's 2). The sample comes from: Milton Carlos - SE ALGUÉM TELEFONAR - Alcyr Pires Vermelho e Jair Amorim 1:55 in the track. Nujabes is a legend, him owning a record store definitely added to his creative pool to grab inspiration from
Some of these titles were in facts Monorisick (aka Dj Deckstream) productions. He was Nujabes' aibo (partner) at Hydeout. One would produce a song and the other would make a remix of it, and both would be great. Home sweet home by Substantial is a nice example. Substantial qualified their partnership as 2 opposites who balanced each other, Nujabes being the calm one and Monorisick the energetic one. They both were amazing artists and legendary crates diggers, always giving life to forgotten melodies. They both left this world way too soon.
4:15 that's only the low end, right? Is the horn sample still not found? Btw dope that you included the interviews with all the people he worked with. Dope tribute.
Amazing, thanks so much for finding these samples. Miss Nujabes even if I didn’t know him, but I know one thing, he’s not really dead, because all I have to do is hit play to revive him through my speakers… Peace y’all

Thanks for sharing your precious story!
Would you be down for an interview?
@@FreddieLane9001 About this incident? Sure. I cherish the memory and would love to share it with his fans.
Damn, that's amazing

When listening to these artists more gives in the music as one grows. A layer at a time. Beautiful music 😎👍🏼
