One does not simply starts listening Nujabes. One falls into a deep abyss, floating in a state of perpetual smoothness, dreaming about lotus flowers and graffiti.
Oh wow the Anime Man himself saw my video, damn I knew you were a fan (of Nujabes) but I didn't think it would find its way to ya. I'm glad you enjoyed it though man!
His music makes me nostalgic for a time I know nothing about. Makes me miss things I've never experienced and makes me remember feelings I've never felt before.
Normally, I don’t comment or do anything with TH-cam videos but this, This was something special. Nujabes was my savior when I was in a dark spot in my life until I heard the entire Luvsic hexology. The passionate way you spoke about everything, your flow, your speech patterns and how you emphasize major points makes me see this entire video as a true tribute to Nujabes, and thats not something I say lightly. Even I can’t do that when I attempt to speak about how much this artist means to me. But this, this was it. From a random guy on the internet, thank you.
Thanks @OniiChan this was my life on and off for 6 months, it's the hardest video I've had to write or put together, as well as the longest, but I'm so glad I pushed through and finished it. I'm glad Nujabes could do that for you while I can't say the same I also have artists who've helped me through some pretty dark times in my life so I get it. Peace.
Mine too, mine too... I understand the feeling, his music saved me, and listening it never gets me tired, every time it plays reminds me that struggle and the lessons as scars from battles that witness those moments.
Nujabes saved my life. During the darkest time of my life I felt the random urge to listen to some nujabes out of no where and Luv sic 1-6 was there for me. I listened and I cried. It reflected my sadness perfectly but also lifted me up like nothing else I'd ever heard. Long live Nujabes
I know the comment's a bit old, but still, I feel you. Luv(sic) pt.1-6 evokes feelings that I can't describe. Very few songs make me feel that way. It holds a dear place in my heart. Gone too soon, Seba.
Samurai Champloo was my intro into Nujabes and it changed my life, I haven't been the same since. Great work on this! I hope they reissue his vinyl's one day, his work is timeless
Same for me, from the first time I 've listen to Battlecry my life changed. He was a Genius, with the rare ability ti speak to your soul evene better than yourself. Always grateful to this life for Nujabes, RIP
Hey just a heads up, his two Samurai Champloo records, Departure and Impression are both getting pressed on vinyl for the first time. You can pre-order them now. His two best albums Metaphorical Music and Modal Soul are also being repressed.
@@spencergovier2621 Rough Trade and Juno have them for pre-order. These will ship from the UK so if you're in the US, it would be cheaper to find other sites.
Samurai Champloo changed my life. The soundtrack had an indescribable influence on me. Thank you for this. More people need to know how special Nujabes was. How special he still is.
It makes me happy to see a video made so recently on Nujabes. He's personally my favorite artist and has been an inspiration for me in many ways. His name isn't very recognizable in current hip-hop, but seeing this video I now know that his name still lives on.
He's still famous, I'd say. Just dig a bit into Japanese music, and you'll see it in your recommendations or bound to come across with artists influenced by him.
I remember nujabes being one of the only artist who made me cry when I heard about his death. Rip to that Legend. Good to still see new videos about him.
It’s been 9 years since he departed us. I still can’t believe it. I watched Samurai Champloo back in ‘05, but didn’t start listening to Nujabes until Jan 2010, a month before he passed on. I’m grateful for listening to him, and grateful for his contribution to Lo-Fi.
Pedro A. A lot of us had this experience, I myself as well it’s crazy huh idk what to say but keep playing the same grooves for years over and over and the sounds never get stale it doesn’t make sense, I go back and the songs feel new still every play it’s eerie
Thank you for giving Nujabes the respect and recognition he's always deserved. It pains me to see him so unrecognized all around the world, even in Japan itself. His work in solidifying the chillhop subgenre, as well as similar branches, was completely unprecedented and, in my opinion, has never been rivaled since. The emotional depth, nostalgia, texture, lyrical eloquence, and sample curation are simply amazing. All while fusing dissimilar genres to ultimately result in a genre of its own, truly deserves him a special place in history.
Imaginery Folklore is one of my favorite tracks ever, so I'm glad you brought it up. I was a fan of Nujabes for a few years when I stumbled upon it and it was absolutely mesmerizing. It's so mournfully beautiful and uplifting. I've listened to Folklore on repeat many a time when I've been feeling down.
Yeah. One vital point to consider though - is that it's not exactly about the typhoon, but about WW2. Try google it / or find the youtube version with lyrics in comments. Peace.
@@Stevem Probably, that's the date when Battle of Midway took place in 1942. And most of the casualties from Japanese side happened that day. At first I also thought it was literally about a typhoon, yet I couldn't google any significant ones occurring in / near Japan on June 6 (considering the year the song was written in)
I've never actually listened to lyrics in songs since english was never even close to my native language (i've been borned and am still living in southern post soviet union country), and for some reason Nujabes' Luv always felt so depressing and [giving a hope] in the same time; it would always put me in some kind of rainy, lonely and warm in the same time mood, until one day i decided to read the lyrics *i've always been doing something with music turned on on the background so trying to actually listen to lyrics would only distract* and oh god, though i'm not emotional at all, tears ran down my cheeks. I've listened to all 6 parts of Luv and after that, reading in the comment section that he's passed away... that hit me hard. I couldn't put myself together back for a week or so, though before i've always thought that i'm more durable to things like this since i've overcome depression with insomnia that last since 2013 till january 2019. I still can't forget how the fact that he's passed away changed the *Like a movie that you can't predict Like a book that you can't resist* part, having hope that he at least had a happy life, though the whole Luv series made me doubt it. I still can't listen to Nujabes without getting teary nor i can resist listening to his music. *As i once said, the biggest tragety of our existence is it's sudden end, so live your life to the fullest* ♥ And as one youtube commentator once said, *Nujabes isn't dead, you just need to click play.*
Luv Sic still causes me to cry when I really listen to the lyrics... pt 2 and 6 especially. Pt 2 I feel hopeful for the future and that knowing that no matter how bad things seem, it will get better. Luv sic pt 6 feels like such a send off and so perfectly created for a grand finale that I sometimes sob just listening to it. The purity and effort that was put into it, and knowing the history of discovering the track on his phone after the accident by Shing02 just adds so many layers of emotions. We’re extremely fortunate to have pt 6 actually release because the chances of actually missing it were pretty high. I’m grateful Shing02 continues to spread his legacy
Like many others have said, Nujabes saved my life multiple times. I would go as far to say that his music is the sole reason I'm still trying today. I'm still currently finding new things to enjoy, new things to experience, but Nujabes will always be that backbone for me to keep living, for those who didn't have the opportunity to.
I'm glad to hear honestly I'd never expected to hear that so many times in the comments, Nujabes seems to have such a special place in many peoples hearts
Despite Notorious BIG releasing an almost premeditated posthumous 'Life After Death' album, Nujabes 'Spiritual State' was the posthumous album that really woke me up to those afterlife style ideas. It gave me chills. It inspires me as an artist to this day. It set the bar higher for how I think about art and what legacy one leaves behind with their work. The day I heard the news he had died and the day I heard Spiritual State, I remember clear as day. Rest in Peace.
There is no music that grew with me through all my phases of change. Literally every day I listen to him. So often was his music the last bit of happiness inside me, the last bit of physical thing that reminds me of the frail beauty of this world It’s so so deep embedded in my soul I identify myself so much, through the feelings I have when hearing him. I want to be like the music makes me feel
And his work as Producer and Curator! All the inspiration! Without him i probably would never be able to know all the new Japan Jazz music like Soil&Pimp, Jaberloop, Tri4th, Re-trick and many others, aswell as instrumental hiphop like Uyama or Kenichiro Nishihara. The world owes too much to Seba Jun.
Like most people i discovered Nujabes through champloo, and later youtube. I dont think there was a day where i wouldnt listen to at least one of his songs. I remember finding out the day that he died and just crying to the sound of Counting Stars, something I'd never done before for anyone. To this day his music will still elicit emotions in me when I least expect it. Amazing musician with amazing soul.
RIP Nujabes. Discovered him a while ago from listening to Latitude. I didn't know of his passing until it was too late. But I love his music and it makes me feel alive. All love Nujabes.
After all those years, Nujabes made me realize what is important in life, how to enjoy it and how to survive through the hard days. Whenever I listen some of his songs, get a smile upon my face eventually. Thank you Jun. Rest in beats. Your legacy will live.
I remember I was in Japan studying abroad in 2010 when the news broke that Nujabes had died in a car crash. Crushed isn’t even the word. I felt like everything was just getting started. I’d listen to Modal Soul on those long bus/train rides to the city. Such a special time.
I got into Nujabes in 2009 while watching a video off naruto shippuden manga book and his song playing in the background was World Without Words. I loved it so much instead of finishing the video I kept looking for the musician who created that immaculate sound piece. Been hooked on nujabes ever since RIP. I found heaven in his compositions
I wish channels like your could florish more on this platform. I'm always feeling like somebody is sharing a dream when releasing essays like this one. Thank you very much!
Nujabes was the discription of my somber night life drives in Tucson, Arizona. I'll never forget, now I've gone, that atmosphere and emotion. Killing time, perusing for inner peace. While it'd be nearly a waste for me to go back to that city, I put him on sometimes to hearkon back. He accomplished something more than personal by being able to transport me back entirely to enjoy the things I do miss and loved on the drop of a beat. Funny how close the word musician is to magician.
Who was Nujabes? A music legend! I'll never tire of his music. I hope one day i can make some music that has touched people as his music has done for so many. Amazing video as well, so much i didn't know in here!
Every song by Nujabes is completely different, all of them tells something. Some years ago, i was listening "Hikari" and someone wrote that the possible meaning of the title was the name of train transportation in Japan, also Nujabes had another song called with other route train transportation. Every song was made with something on the Nujabes´s mind, and we can pass all entire life thinking and trying to find it. That´s is an artist. Thanks for the video!!!! PD: My favorite song is "Sky is fallling"
WOW.. man this is crazy .. just 2 days ago i was looking for videos talking about this dude but i was sad i couldn't find any as a fan my self of his work ! and then this popped up ! well done man :D
This was a wonderful video. Thank you, and, while we are on the topic, I didn't realize that Nujabes produced one of Uyama Hiroto's albums, but it figures that it has Waltz for Life Will Born, one of the most beautiful songs I've personally ever heard.
When I was dealing with some seriously hard times, Nujabes was like a beacon in the dark, guiding me along, letting me know that everything would be ok. RIP Nujabes.
This video is amazing. Nujabes is my favourite artist of all time, his ability to create something so relaxing yet emotive at the same time was truly amazing. He was a true artist until the end, RIP Nujabes.
Amazing video. Not gonna lie, brought tears to my eyes. Just reflecting on Nujabes’ music and what he means to myself and so many others. Seba Jun died way too young, R.I.P.
Every once in awhile, I'll find a random Nujabes track that I never knew about before. It's almost like the hip-hop wizard is still alive, creating sick music.
not even 10 seconds into the vid and hearing luv sic part 4, along with the fact that nujabes is one of my favorite artists ever, almost made me cry. why you gotta do me like that
Always been curious about who he was. Stumbled across his work late in my life but for sure he created an impact New nujabes fan ever since R.I.P. king
Very well done 😊 Nujabes is a *HUGE* inspiration and a pioneer to alot of the jazz hop, chill hop music you hear today. His music was truly spiritual and I haven't heard anything like it to this day. *There will NEVER be another Nujabes!* May his spirit live on forever, through his music and the people he's inspired. 🙏🏾 Peace & Love! 💙✌🏾🎨⛅
Nujabes work transformed the way I listen to music today. The way his music resonates with a person's soul is beyond anything I can describe. RIP Nujabes
Last 2017 i was at my lowest state, listening to nujabes at that time helped me to go to the rough path. You will be remembered, Seba Jun! Thankful for the music he produced.
Listening to Nujabe’s beats is like hearing a warm breeze in the forest, and listening to Shing02’s lyrics is like listening to the rivers on a calm day. You put them two together and you get a sense of peaceful harmony that puts you at peace even in your most unhappy moments or even nearing at death’s door because nature is too beautiful to always be stressed out over the baggage that comes with living.
if youre REALLY in the mood to cry after watching this, listen to "Just For You" by Uyama Hiroto. It was the last track on his first album to come out after Jun's passing and it's an emotional tribute to his friend. Wonderful song. Bless y'all
I regret not knowing about Nujabes while he was still alive and it's really sad that he passed before I had that chance but I'm thankful he left a legacy behind for all to hear. RIP Nujabes
This was the man that helped me get through a tough break up and tough times in my late teens/early 20's. I do believe without his music to help sooth my emotional pain at that time, I don't know If I would have ever gotten out of the abyss in my head. This mans music always has a different emotion to it, you can feel the music flow through you and can heal you. It's sad to hear when a celebrity passes away but I don't really care for the most part as none have ever had the influence on me like Nujabes did. Sometimes people ask what my favorite song of all time is and for most, it'd be a difficult question to answer but easy for me as "Lady Brown- Nujabes and Cise Starr" is numero uno. I'm just rambling now but I'm glad I was a lucky one and came across his stuff 10+ years ago. It changed my life. He was taken way too soon... Rest In Beats Seba Jun. Thank you for saving me, -Lombardo
I hope he realized just how much influence he had and continues to have on so many people all over the world. His music takes me back to simpler times.
Seba's music transcends space and time, its helped me through so much. theres no ego, theres just pure good energy. his life's work is the biggest source of inspiration for me. thank you for making this video Steve.

Stevem madd respect for this gift. Nujabes is one of the souls who inspired my youtube channel and I was one of those first fans since 99'. :)
One does not simply starts listening Nujabes.
One falls into a deep abyss, floating in a state of perpetual smoothness, dreaming about lotus flowers and graffiti.
Not a bad description
It was a journey, deep diving into everything he's done
I’m JoeyKickz and I approve this message
He'll Yeah I.found his music beats on November 2018 and fell deep in to the abyss
Vicente Ortega Rubilar literally felt like I was venturing through a new world when I listened to his music
Or u just come from Samurai Champloo and discover him
Fantastic video.
Well done!
Oh wow the Anime Man himself saw my video, damn I knew you were a fan (of Nujabes) but I didn't think it would find its way to ya. I'm glad you enjoyed it though man!
@The Anime Man (if you really enjoyed it, consider giving it a share would help out the video a lot xD)

Would be nice it was 6 months on and off of my life
Thank you for doing such great justice to a legend.
Thanks my man, I did my best with it
didnt expect to see you here. love your vids
Onichann, I love you just because I stumbled upon this comment in an interesting time of my life. Thanks.
I feel you in him helping you out of a dark moment in life same with me back in 2002.
beautiful
Nujabes saved my life. During the darkest time of my life I felt the random urge to listen to some nujabes out of no where and Luv sic 1-6 was there for me. I listened and I cried. It reflected my sadness perfectly but also lifted me up like nothing else I'd ever heard. Long live Nujabes
I know the comment's a bit old, but still, I feel you. Luv(sic) pt.1-6 evokes feelings that I can't describe. Very few songs make me feel that way. It holds a dear place in my heart.
Gone too soon, Seba.
Rest in peace Nujabes. The most influential, yet unknown artist behind the lo-fi subgenre
Honestly.
I call him the godfather of lofi. Because he is...
Shiloh is up there too as most influential
Samurai Champloo was my intro into Nujabes and it changed my life, I haven't been the same since. Great work on this!
I hope they reissue his vinyl's one day, his work is timeless
Same for me, from the first time I 've listen to Battlecry my life changed. He was a Genius, with the rare ability ti speak to your soul evene better than yourself. Always grateful to this life for Nujabes, RIP
Amen
Hey just a heads up, his two Samurai Champloo records, Departure and Impression are both getting pressed on vinyl for the first time. You can pre-order them now. His two best albums Metaphorical Music and Modal Soul are also being repressed.
@@mutton7891 Yo where abouts could one find these for pre order? any info would be awsome

He'll live on
@@Stevem im happy af dude! Happy af! You did a great job!

He's still famous, I'd say. Just dig a bit into Japanese music, and you'll see it in your recommendations or bound to come across with artists influenced by him.
He's actually really popular among Hip Hop heads like me
I remember nujabes being one of the only artist who made me cry when I heard about his death. Rip to that Legend. Good to still see new videos about him.
Nujabes, Dilla, Eyedea, and Guru for me.
Lo-fi hip hop kinda trash tho 98% of lo-fi sound the same
Jesus christ. I could have sworn it was just last year. Time is going by faster and faster.
@@cocorosh7295 i mean isn't it in the same situation as hip hop?
I've always hated it being branded as "lo-fi" why not just call it Hip-Hop? he is a DJ/Hip-Hop Producer.
YES THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT NUJABES
No probs
It truly is a shame that he had to go so soon. There was so much potential he had, and yet it was all taken. Rest In Peace, Seba Jun.

Peace.
So is the typhoon a metaphor for world war II
@@Stevem Probably, that's the date when Battle of Midway took place in 1942. And most of the casualties from Japanese side happened that day.
At first I also thought it was literally about a typhoon, yet I couldn't google any significant ones occurring in / near Japan on June 6 (considering the year the song was written in)
ahh same the first time i heard it i had it on replay for hours before i fell asleep
I've never actually listened to lyrics in songs since english was never even close to my native language (i've been borned and am still living in southern post soviet union country), and for some reason Nujabes' Luv always felt so depressing and [giving a hope] in the same time; it would always put me in some kind of rainy, lonely and warm in the same time mood, until one day i decided to read the lyrics
*i've always been doing something with music turned on on the background so trying to actually listen to lyrics would only distract*
and oh god, though i'm not emotional at all, tears ran down my cheeks.
I still can't forget how the fact that he's passed away changed the
*Like a movie that you can't predict
Like a book that you can't resist*
part, having hope that he at least had a happy life, though the whole Luv series made me doubt it.
I still can't listen to Nujabes without getting teary nor i can resist listening to his music.
*As i once said, the biggest tragety of our existence is it's sudden end, so live your life to the fullest* ♥
And as one youtube commentator once said, *Nujabes isn't dead, you just need to click play.*
So often was his music the last bit of happiness inside me, the last bit of physical thing that reminds me of the frail beauty of this world
It’s so so deep embedded in my soul
I identify myself so much, through the feelings I have when hearing him. I want to be like the music makes me feel
Thanks for doing this. A beautiful way for future generations to know who the Pioneer of Lofi Hip Hop was. He was taken from us way too soon.
Yeah I'm hoping a lot of new fans come from this video, some of this info was super hard to find
Stevem Thank you so much!
Modal Soul is one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.
This video's gonna get big and I like that. More people need to know about Nujabes, he was a brilliant musician.
Amazing musician with amazing soul.
thank you for this beautiful video, got a couple of Nujabes albums on itunes because of this. Good stuff
RIP Nujabes. Discovered him a while ago from listening to Latitude. I didn't know of his passing until it was too late. But I love his music and it makes me feel alive. All love Nujabes.
Could you say he was one of the pioneers of lofi hip-hop?
In the Aesthetic and for Westerner's I'm sure he was a key influencer
In hip hop in general
No doubt of it. Thanks to him I discovered this genre that now days I love.
HE CREATED LOFI. People are so uncultured if they don't know this.
Guaranteed
After all those years, Nujabes made me realize what is important in life, how to enjoy it and how to survive through the hard days. Whenever I listen some of his songs, get a smile upon my face eventually. Thank you Jun. Rest in beats. Your legacy will live.
I remember I was in Japan studying abroad in 2010 when the news broke that Nujabes had died in a car crash.
Crushed isn’t even the word. I felt like everything was just getting started.
I’d listen to Modal Soul on those long bus/train rides to the city.
Such a special time.
What a great late birthday gift for Nujabes⭐️
Man, this video/tribute is just beautiful
I got into Nujabes in 2009 while watching a video off naruto shippuden manga book and his song playing in the background was World Without Words. I loved it so much instead of finishing the video I kept looking for the musician who created that immaculate sound piece. Been hooked on nujabes ever since RIP. I found heaven in his compositions
I wish channels like your could florish more on this platform. I'm always feeling like somebody is sharing a dream when releasing essays like this one.
Thank you very much!
I had a great year in 2018, saw a ton of growth on the channel and I'm hoping to see the same this year
Nujabes was the discription of my somber night life drives in Tucson, Arizona.
Another great video brother, congrats on the release, cheers!!
Cheers Bro!
Pad we meet again...
Who was Nujabes?
A music legend!
I'll never tire of his music. I hope one day i can make some music that has touched people as his music has done for so many. Amazing video as well, so much i didn't know in here!
Nujabes style to mix genres and creating a flow only a few people can achieve he still is unique and I'm thankful to know his work.
Thank you for this. I'm angry that TH-cam didnt recommend this video to me a week ago.
Great video. This vid has reunited Nujabes fans around the globe
as a nujabes fan i really appreciate the fact you've taken time to make this for people to know. may his legacy last forever
Fell in love with his music these past weeks thanks for this!
Too this day he remains my favorite artist. The work he did was amazing.
Wow yes and thank you, this is such a nice tribute
Every song by Nujabes is completely different, all of them tells something. Some years ago, i was listening "Hikari" and someone wrote that the possible meaning of the title was the name of train transportation in Japan, also Nujabes had another song called with other route train transportation. Every song was made with something on the Nujabes´s mind, and we can pass all entire life thinking and trying to find it. That´s is an artist.
Thanks for the video!!!!
PD: My favorite song is "Sky is fallling"
Nujubus is the most under known artist in the music scene. He deserves to be a household name.

This was an important analysis video
This was a wonderful video. Thank you, and, while we are on the topic, I didn't realize that Nujabes produced one of Uyama Hiroto's albums, but it figures that it has Waltz for Life Will Born, one of the most beautiful songs I've personally ever heard.
Waltz for Life Will Born in my opinion is hands down my favourite collaboration Nujabes and Hiroto has done together
RIP Nujabes, you will be missed by millions if not billions ;-;
Idk how I'm just seeing this 4 year later but it puts the magic of his music into words so well. Awesome job
Every once in awhile, I'll find a random Nujabes track that I never knew about before. It's almost like the hip-hop wizard is still alive, creating sick music.

HIs music will forever be timeless. I'm so lucky that I was able to be exposed to his music through sc. He's my favourite artist to listen to.

Bless y'all

my homie turned me onto nujables three years ago and he remains one of my favorite producers. feather remains one of the greatest song ive ever heard.
I regret not knowing about Nujabes while he was still alive and it's really sad that he passed before I had that chance but I'm thankful he left a legacy behind for all to hear. RIP Nujabes
this was a beautiful and seamlessly made video from beginning to end. this was genius !!!
