Sick video. Very detailed and perfectly explained. I watched this to rebuild my '99 Z2 Bam. BTW, those clips are called snap rings and the tool to compress them are snap ring pliers
I've watched a bunch of your videos rebuilding Marzocchi forks, these forks are a marvel of engineering and precision compared to contemporaries of the time and even now if you ask me.
Thanks for this…as I just started my tear down/rebuild. just a note if it wasn’t already mentioned. The oil seal (first one in the tube) is the same. It’s the wiper seal that has either a pronounced shoulder or a less pronounced shoulder. I learned that recently while ordering a Dr Marzocchi seal kit. Incidentally, a 1999 (stamped) z2 80 atom requires a “classic” seal with the pronounced shoulder. Great video!
you are a champion! excellent explanation. BTW, you probably know this but your forks were missing the retaining clips on top (at the top aluminium caps - u'll see thye have a groove) these are so that if the crown bolts get loose you don't lose the leg. kinda; of a safety thing and important. You can get those in a kit from SRP where u got the seals (or I can send u a pair if u want). I've literally done dozens of these - you;ve doen a good job in explaining everything. Also, u r lucky to have the crown with the boltable steerer. Those are dear.
How longs a complete rebuild usually take? A few hours? Just curious it took me a few hours but satisfying when finished. This is my first one and man those oil seals were super hard to take out but I got it. That took a good 30 mins or more lol. Thanks for the tutorial

Perfect! I have a few bombers and every time I go to service I have to search the web to refresh my memory. Saving this

Nice, this video gets a like in the first 14 seconds for showing me how to figure out what year this Z2 I've had laying around. It's a '96.
Sick 🤙
