I like the accessories guy! I'm sure he'll be busy in the next few months - these little vehicles are going to be pretty popular... What sort of ticks me off is that at the price for the Limited trim it should come with a receiver (2 inch I'd think) - that shouldn't even be a factory option - again this goes to show that they (Hyundai) really isn't positioning this as a "truck". I'm seeing lots of videos from dealers in the last couple of days where a SEL / SEL Premium is right off the transport with a factory receiver and the best explanation I've heard was that it was an option package (I think "Activity" Package). No where is there an "order guide" for these things - just the Hyundai website and even that has little info (I did find where you can download the owner's manual). I have a Limited reserved (due Sept. 6th) and there's no options or accessories that you can choose during the reservation. At $41k I'm going to be slightly pissed when I have to shell out another $150-300 for the Hyundai "Genuine" receiver and likely have to wait a couple weeks for it to come in (I'll install myself). I'm sort of second guessing my decision to sell/trade my 2018 F-150 XLT 5.0l for this thing (even though I'll net $10k by selling it this week - if I do). I already have a 2" receiver, I already have just about everything this Sport Adventure Vehicle has with the exception of a sun roof, ventilated seats and the ability to park (easily) in my garage.

I really like this thing! My problem is that I haven't bought a new vehicle in many many years, so it's very hard for me to justify $40,000. Very hard to believe how much vehicles are now.
@@devinbender8428 It started with me looking at the little Bronco sport. I take care of and keep my vehicles for many years. (I still have my 86 Ford F350 crew cab dual rear wheel, and daily drive a '05 Mazda 6s.) The Mazda is getting a little tired, and the F350 is too big for a daily driver and hard on fuel. Anyway, as I started picking equipment and options for the Bronco sport, I found it only is capable of Towing 2000 to 2250 pounds. That's not enough to tow a small bass boat! That's what started me looking at the Hyundai Santa Cruz. I knew the forward Maverick shares the same platform as the Bronco sport, so that wasn't going to cut it. ( Mavericks tow capacity is 2000 to 4000 lb with upgrades.) A ranger z518L with trailer, weighs nearly 3725 lbs dry. That's no fuel, no tackle, no equipment, nothing. That's what brought me to the Santa Cruz. More horsepower and torque with optional engine. 5000 pound tow capacity. Also, comes with a 7-pin plug so you can install a brake controller. The Santa Cruz also weighs about 250 lb more than the Maverick. That little bit of extra weight helps when towing. I like the size of the vehicle. I really don't want to move up to a Colorado or Ranger. For me, the only Advantage they have a proper longitudinal engine and rear-wheel drive configuration period that matched with four-wheel drive option makes for a nice medium-sized tow vehicle. But now your getting into the $50,000 realm with them loaded.
@@jnicksnewstart loaded SC is well over $42,000 For that I can get a Ford Ranger Supercrew 4x4 Lariat, with a cover, Max towing package, Leather seats, and ford 360. Which has more torque, better MPG, more towing capacity. More leg room. Bigger bed. With only being 12” longer and 300lbs heavier. If your towing 3725 dry, add 300lbs for gas, 100 for gear, 200 for coolers, 100 for stuff. That’s just under your 5000lb limit. Then your going to load your family in it? So now your towing AND payload is MAXED out, with a DCT and small brakes? Good luck with that.
Top-of-the-line Ford Ranger four-wheel drive is tapping fifty-grand. Like I said my comment, I own an 86 Ford Crew Cab. If I need any higher Towing I'll just drive that.Devin, I'm having a hard time choking the price of the Santa Cruz as well. "Stay safe, healthy, and happy"
Don’t buy new ever, the appeal wears off after a few weeks and all you’ll think about is what you really could have done with 40 thousand dollars! Tons of cool vehicles for 5k and if your like me, you may enjoy searching and researching potential options.
If you're going all out on a Santa Cruz you can just get the Ridgeline in the same price range, and its better all around in room and storage, and just as good if not better interior.
SUGGESTION: PLEASE CONSIDER BUILDING A BAJA VERSION. WITH 31" ALL-TERRAIN TIRES, PRE-RUNNER BARS, AND OFF-ROAD LIGHTING. AND SUSPENSION AND OR BODY LIFT KIT.

I pull my utility trailer and my 18 foot RV Satalite tip out 3,600 lbs To Tennessee to Nags Head NC. It Loves the Sand with just 15 psi drop in the 18in. Tires. If I need material from Lows or Home Depot I hook up the utility trailer get anything I ever needed. They always forget the 100k warranty and free Synthetic Oil changes. Big Big savings
I really like this thing! My problem is that I haven't bought a new vehicle in many many years, so it's very hard for me to justify $40,000. Very hard to believe how much vehicles are now.
New Kia Rios are $20,000 now.
But a ford Maverick is $30,000 for AWD turbo.
@@jnicksnewstart loaded SC is well over $42,000
For that I can get a
Ford Ranger Supercrew 4x4 Lariat, with a cover, Max towing package, Leather seats, and ford 360.
Whenever I get bored of my current vehicles, I sell them and stay under 5k.. almost never lose any money and can switch up rides in a matter of days, all without dropping tens of thousands. Tons of cool vehicles for 5k and if your like me, you may enjoy searching and researching potential options.

that little extender is nice!!
I'm really glad to see Hyundai is offering that extender!
Very nice but too expensive. And yet to see it move on or Off road.
Great video! Thank you very Much
Do I have to pay to return?
If you're going all out on a Santa Cruz you can just get the Ridgeline in the same price range, and its better all around in room and storage, and just as good if not better interior.
Why even have that guy on, Roman hardly let's him talk? Shut up and Calm down Roman!

Hyundai with its 5000lb towing capacity gives the Ford Maverick the boot 🥾
Love this car
Good job, Mike!
How much fuel tank capacity?
17.7 gallons
yeah those are 2 xs hardtails lol i have a small full suspension bike i supposed it could work for me lol
I believe the trunk will open with the bed extender swiveled to the inside. It was the cargo mat cover that was going to prevent it from opening…
I imagine bringing back the midgate would go great with SAVs, but cost and structural stability may be tough.
Reminds me of the Subaru Brat or Baja, neither of which did very well.
The door windows in the rear go down all the way? Sweet.
Just test drove this today. Has a very comfortable, stylish interior and handles nicely on the road. But absolutely absurd that here in LA the dealership had a 10k markup on a 41k AWD Limited. Which means the car would be 56-57k total finance! It’s absolutely horrible the pandemic price gouging that’s going on!
I just put a deposit down on the se version. The local dealer here is selling them at msrp. I enjoyed driving it and am excited to get one.
I was a the Puente Hills Hyundai,, they were selling at MSRP...
FYI most modern mountain bikes won't fit in that small of a bed. Especially if you have that factory tonneau installed (and its a pain to remove and store)
Should we call it a Hyundero or??? At any rate it seems like a competent effort. This thing could tow a fishing boat or small travel trailer. That's kind of impressive for the size vehicle it is.
I hope it sells well enough for them.
Glad they can have bikes in the back with a tailgate pad, would be my primary use for it other then camping.
Did you catch that the tonneau had to be removed to accommodate the bikes on the gate? Not a good fit, that tonneau well not be an easy inn and out!
@@pxpaulx first thing I noticed funny enough, hoping to test drive one when it hits a dealership near me and bring my bike haha
Our dealership got our first shipment of the Santa Cruz. They were sold within hours.
And yet there is still a driving embargo, and no options guide. Pathetic
I just want to see kayaks thrown in it.
Not a fan of the bed Matt, had one on my Ridgeline and threw the damn thing out always more problems than good.
Roman, stop trying to make Santa Cruz happen, it's not going to happen.
tail lights are covered by bike carrier protector...
Im trying the highest trim available
I'm getting this!
