    I believe the number 1 concern every learners face is road familiarity, the fear of the unknown, just when they though they roughly knew the area because they managed to come across it (as a tag along etc.) 2 to 3 times, they will get surprised that the instructor will tell them to head into a completely different area, hence they have zero knowledge of the road signs, traffic light, traffic signs etc. of the area. they feel they are driving "blindfolded"

    I’ve failed countless times. More than 8 times. The truth is I’m a really good driver but my nerves get the better of me every time I’m doing my test. I don’t know how to stop being nervous. It’s so sad. Too much money wasted. Failure sucks

    I did well over 100 hours including lessons and driving with friends and family who already have a licence so I totally understand this tip. Personally I believe you should have at least a certain amount of hours with an instructor before taking your test because intensive courses don't exactly teach you safe driving (as far as I'm aware)

    • @JoshRamwell
      @JoshRamwell  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree that regular lessons are generally better than a short intensive week but I understand this isn't an option for everyone with work commitments extra. But definitely better for a more balanced learning experience.

    I have my second driving test on Thursday. My first one was in March. Only 3 minors, but failed on the maneuvere, due to an EXTREMELY high pressured situation in central London, it was a road that no experienced driver in their right mind would do a parallel park in (loft conversion one side of the road with skip lorries pulling in and out and road works on the other side). I feel the examiner set me up to fail. I drove almost perfectly the entire test and we spent the whole time chatting also! So it really knocked me back that this happened. The next time I had a lesson, I did a parallel park straight away just as I suspected I would (it's actually my best manouvere ironically). I was VERY unlucky. Thank you for this video, it's very helpful!

    I would also add in distance from vehicle in front in a traffic jam as i had a minor for that, i had enough room to pull around the vehicle but he said i was too close. The other minor i had was a no win as there were parked cars on both sides of the road so i was passing giving the required clearance and a SUV decided not to wait and came the other way and i had a minor for being to close to them. Either too close to them or too close to the parked cars so i was stuck with that one lol. Passed first time with no lessons just a supervising driver and a CD ROM.

    Hi Josh
    Could you advise on my query?
    If a student is turning right off a one way road at a T-junction and they pull up in the left lane instead of the right lane, but they still turn right without affecting any other motorists because there is no one around. How would this be marked on a test?
    Thanks

      @@craighodgson9083 Great question. Every time I've ever seen it they give a serious fault. I think it's completely ridiculous. I don't agree with this marking at all and I don't really understand it but I don't make the rules 😅

      I also find this very frustrating that it isn't just marked as a minor driving fault if they have not affected any other motorists/road users or pedestrians. Examiners need to put common sense into practice with certain faults.

    I’ll be honest, the eyetest isn’t as strict as youtube channels make out whatsoever, I’m short sighted, thickish lenses and got it wrong but the examiner said “perfect” (my 1st test I got it right but failed, passed on the 2nd) I also mounted a curb but it wasn’t a danger situation so it was just a minor - I missed the first opportunity to do my manoeuvre pulling up on the right so they said “ok we’ll forget the manoeuvre” went back to the test centre, got told to reverse bay park - I had no room as I learned in a SUV then I had to do some dodgy park and still passed, which was this year so yeah it’s not that strict and all the examiners are nice

      No you can fail if you get it wrong twice whilst your on the move.
      If however for example you don’t know we’re the demister is then the examiner has to park you up and show you.
      But then they will ask you do that same question again on the move if you then get it wrong it’s good bye.

    L plate should be directly in front and rear of the driver, so not a central position.
    Makes me laugh when the L plate is positioned in line with the passenger side of the car! Sorta implying the supervising driver in a learner haha

    • @JoshRamwell
      @JoshRamwell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When ever I've seen an examiner place an l plate on the car it's normally central on the front to give the best possible view for all parties but I see your point. I'll investigate further thank you 😊

    • @REC-TEC-CCR
      @REC-TEC-CCR 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoshRamwell Forget about what an examiner is or isn't doing. Some driving instructors seem to worship them far too much 🤨
      L plates need to be positioned at the front and rear of the vehicle behind the learner driver that's why the traditional learner driver headboards the L plate is possioned over to the right, but ultimately nothing is said about being place in a centre position or any specific position for that matter.

    Really disagree with the clothing point, you should wear appropriate clothing for driving in public and more importantly appropriate footwear. You say dress smart but in reality joggers and trainers would be far better as they will allow you to drive more comfortably and you will more focused on the road and not discomfort.

  • @withlovezi
    @withlovezi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your pushing it with the whole don’t show up in joggers! 😂You think people are bothered about what their wearing in this overly nerve wrecking test! Also people get failed for the most ridiculous things as well. You should do a video on how examiners are slyly failing people so they can meet their quota for the month 😗 driving tests are so expensive

    • @idris0786

      Absolutely not true.
      There is no quota if your good you will pass…
      I have heard colleagues say omg only last min he/ she did something silly.
      Remember it’s a report they have to write.
      If you pass then it’s easier for them..
      Good luck…
