Oh my... The one who introduced the professor appeared to have given a speech as well...
Does anyone know where I can find the document she talks about in minute 49? Would be great for my master's thesis

Thank you to Dartmouth for inviting Shoshana Zuboff and giving her the opportunity to speak.
Brainwashing el cheapo she is
To the first student who asked a question : users chose to use a service but 1) never been told that every action (or non action) such as clicking a like, how long they pause on a certain post, etc. was used and how it was used 2) that has been leveraged, in secreacy, for profit and preventing competition. ***IF*** nr 1 was known, other companies my have started offering more respectful alternatives and thrive so that created monopoly/competition prevented. So consumers have been prevented alternatives AND have been stolen of their behavioral data. If nr 1 wasn't true and companies had communicated openly (even in between little lines of their terms & conditions), the assumptions would be correct (users' fault) but infortunately it isn't.
When Am Gore tried to raise some of those questions re: public, information, democracy, internet owners and he was ridiculed as claiming to be a founder/builder of the internet, no other politician touched

This is a must watch lecture for all privacy fanatics, free open source software developers, and Linux enthusiasts.
That first kid in the Q&A is a total tech bootlicker. Imagine listening to Zuboff for an hour and blaming consumers.
Oh jeezus the 2nd question too. I suppose they would blame people wearing cotton clothes for slavery, and people eating meat for child labor in slaughterhouses.
@@TheMageesatotally agree with you! The whole point of the system is designed to be undetectable and confusing. That’s what it means to be oppressed, the oppressors wouldn’t want you to know that you are being oppressed. It’s either he’s in some serious denial of Zuboff’s ideology or he doesn’t even understand what Surveillance Capitalism is about.
