”Bag om EN KONGELIG AFFÆRE” takes you behind the scenes of Nikolaj Arcel’s historical film about Struense played by Mads Mikkelsen. Nikolaj Arcel shares his thoughts on making the Oscar nominated film and how he found the new stars Berlinale winner Mikkel Boe Føelsgaard and the Oscar winner Alicia Vikander. The documentary also shows how they created the world of A ROYAL AFFAIRE with insightful interviews with Costume Designer Manon Rasmussen, Production Designer Niels Sejer, Ghost Visual Effects Supervisor Jeppe Nygaard and cinematographer Rasmus Videbæk.

A good movie is a good movie - no matter the language. I wish more people would get over this subtitles thing and just enjoy the world of cinema.

@@Shann0700 Isn't it great? I love just randomly finding some film I've never heard of - definitely not in my own language - and you think, maybe I'll give this a try. And then it's just magic and completely unlike what you're used to watching. It's not like you've lost your access to good Hollywood movies, you've just gained access to a whole lot more.

I was totally drawn into this film. The actors were superb, it was like a book you couldn't put down, which is surprising when you're reading subtitles for most of it. The flow was almost magical. And the execution scene riveting. It must have taken time to get over it for the actor. Depending on the "method" used to get into the character That must have been traumatic on some level because you could see that he was in it, experiencing it. Bravo, I think a masterpiece was created and these historical figures had a voice again, their beliefs and passions brought to life once more.
the actors and actress are really trully suit the characters. the sad beauty of the queen, the overjoy madness of the king, the calm and mystery of the doctor... i was haunted! such amazing movie.

I read a historical biography about this case. It was wonderful and gave a lot more in depth info than the film does, especially about the young queen's exile and imprisonment after her lover was executed. It was terribly sad and her family who put her in that situation a pack of callous bastards.

Alicia kan tydeligvis noget med sprog. Hendes danske er imponerende, når man tænker på hvor kort tid hun har brugt på at lære det. Hendes engelsk er stort set perfekt. Og så er hun jo en fantastisk skuespiller.
