LOVE this machine! I still have the one that belonged to my Grandmother & it is still kicking. I'd love to find another one. The hoses are brittle and need replaced, but the canister is still kicking!
Great video. I have a Hoover Hornet from 1995. Its the same as the sprint but its yellow and black. And I still have it’s original box. It a great machine.
Roger I just watch the vid from my iPad connected via wifi to my 4K Smart tv!!!! I'm loving the quality. Please keep this vid format option for those of us that have 4K, the tv auto selected the 4K option in the TH-cam app on the tv, was like wow👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Production quality is excellent !!! Nice vac as always.
You've touched on something that I've always thought. A machine like this or a Mighty Mite with a basic but well made upright is everything that you need to clean an entire house.
Yes, a decent upright without attached tools and a seperate canister are the best option in my opinion as I've never found one machine that excels at both.
Lovely machine and it did such a nice gentle cleaning on the rug. I love your rug! My friend Len use to design rugs like that for B. Altman & Company. It's really beautiful and plush Roger.
I think $90 US is a pretty standard price for a budget vac from the 1980’s. I think the target for budget vacs in those days was around $100 - you could get very good basic no-frills Hoovers and Eurekas - both canisters and uprights - at that price in the 1980’s.
Yes you could indeed and they worked a darn sight better than budget machines do now! Clean houses shouldn't be a luxury only reserved for the affluent! Rise! Rise! Rise!
Apple products will not play 4K TH-cam videos if you are using Safari. You need to download Chrome. I can't watch 4K TH-cam videos on my 2017 iMac using Safari. This video plays in 4K on my TV so I know it was downloaded as a 4K video.
If you have a smart tv you can connect your Mac/iPad via the TH-cam app that is on the mac/iPad, there will be an icon on the top of the vid next to settings, click it and the vid will close on the Mac/iPad and it will open it in the smart tv TH-cam app (note the tv and iPad/Mac need to be both connected to wifi). If your tv is 4K the app will auto select that option and I you can watch roger in glorious 4K on the big screen!!!! 😊

Nice piece of history in great condition. It goes perfect with the rug!!

I have one of these and love it! I’d love to find some replacement parts for the accessories, but it is a workhorse for sure!

Great video! Love the rug, and of course the vacuum is a treasure. Love unboxings!

Most of the stuff in the 80s lasted pretty good
Manufactured in July 1989. 😀
Really? I thought that the Elite came out in 1992.
Bruce Solomon This little machine was manufactured in July 89 is what I meant.
The Hoover Elite came out in 1988. 😃
I wasn't sure. I had thought the Elite came out in '92 when the Convertible/Senior range was discontinued.
Can we see the 70s rug now, anything shag and orange
I have an authentic orange and brown 70s rug but it's at my Mum's at the moment.
Hoover quality plummeted when Maytag bought them... and then then totally disintegrated when TTi took over.
i recived it as a gift but ulocking the attachments is IMPOSSIBLE, you need Kin Kong to twist them. How come you did not do it?
a lovely video
i have the same one in my collection 1980 n 90 this model my friend
roger you can't watch it in 4k :( it only says 1080p
thought id tell you incase you wanted to get it sorted :)
You can only watch it in 4K on a 4K enabled TV or other device. The option to play in 4K will not show up if your device can only play HD videos.
im watching on a apple macbook it normally plays 4k :) lol

Are you going to do a big mess test with this?
More of a little clump of mess test I suspect as the bags are awfully small.
No.
Bags
That’s cheap most vacuums in America are over $100.
