When I was a kid, growing up in the Catholic Church pre Vatican 2, we could only sing English carols until midnight at Christmas midnight Mass. from midnight on, everything was in Latin. It was beautiful.
When my Daddy was growing up,they always went to Midnight Mass. He said that people who were not even Catholic would come because they really liked that particular Mass.
@@jennifer082255 That is true - i grew up Church of England (Anglican here in Canada) I have always loved the Catholic latin midnightmass and Adeste Fideles. I will be going again this year with my Catholic friends.
His voice, the music, the architecture, the sculptures and icons; what a beautiful testament to the elegance of Western civilization, and the genius of mankind as a whole.
Adela Sussman agreed ! He’s the best, I think I would prefer to hear Pavarotti rather than Bocelli. Pavarotti has perfect diction and pronunciation . I love hearing Latin when it’s perfectly done .
Enya!!!! in Latin, the most beautiful thing I've ever heard..look it up, here on TH-cam. Sounds like it's coming straight from heaven.. Beautiful video with it. Of course Pavarotti as well!!

The absolute power Pavarotti’s voice held was just indescribable. Both the power he projected, and the power to capture and command your attention. Dominum indeed.

@@litamtondy Great voice, needless to say; but it is weird that he had to keep looking at a sheet of paper with the words to Adeste Fideles, the most famous Christmas hymn of all time.
@@litamtondyHe probably forgot where he is for a moment. Recording is from 1978, so he was already very old and nowhere near his mental health. Had dementia and struggling with other illnesses very much.

The power of his voice to fill that whole room without a microphone is insane.
Yes true
But it is also because of the way the church was built in the middle ages
Those guys knew how to build for nice acoustics
there is a small microphone clipped to his right shoulder. Almost cant see it.
