  • Is Bronx dangerous? Explore South Bronx with me along Parkchester, Westchester Avenue, and Elder Avenue all within New York City, NY. Westchester Avenue in the Bronx is a major west-east street that runs through the South and East portions of the Bronx, New York City. It runs through many neighborhoods especially parts of Parkchester which is featured in this video. Parkchester is a planned community and neighborhood that houses many apartment complexes. The danger in The South Bronx NY is similar to what you'd find in most major cities. Walk with me in this Bronx NY vlog and get some feel of what the place looks like. You be the judge.

    I used to live on Virginia Avenue right there near the Hugh J. Grant Circle near the 6 train station, a lot of memories there. I lived In Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island. I love New York City, there’s always something to do.

    Thanks for showing real life in action time ED. I was born in Westchester Square Hospital but my folks moved out to the suburbs. Later I bought into a franchised automotive supplies and equipment route marketing to the Bronx and had about 20 stops on Westchester Avenue from Pelham Bay running south east to E.149th Street. Did not see any in this shot, likely the real estate became too valuable for the car business so developers bought it up to make pharmacies, banks, "C" stores and other more profitable spots. Showed this to my tweenie aged granddaughter country girl where I'm now retired down South so she can get a vibe of what its like during a day in the city. Good education, keep up the good work.

I don't think I would know anyone if I walked on East Tremont Ave & Crotona Ave where I grew up. I Remember I played handball allot where the hangout was at the Arthur Ave Park off East Tremont. You can see the Mcdonalds from there. I have many great memories.

    Parkchester I went to elementary and middle school there. Seen Batman in the 80s at the movie theater there. A lot of field trips taking the train at that station for school. A lot of childhood memories. Don’t live there anymore. But visit still often since I own a house down there. I never think of the Bronx the way some might think. Dangerous scary. To me it was home all my childhood. I walk down those streets today without any fear. As long as you mind your business be nice and don’t start any drama your good.

    Really interesting video.
    As a non American I‘d really like to understand why you don‘t see any white people at all on the street in this area? Are the white people in New York all racist and don‘t want to mix with other groups of people? Are they all too rich to go to an obviously poorer neighborhood? Are they afraid? Afraid of what happening?
    I understand some of the richest and most white neighborhoods in America are just a few miles to the north. Is there any gentrification/displacement going on? It‘s all really very strange to me…

    • @EdGoPlaces
      @EdGoPlaces  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are observant and right to a large extent in your assessment. Of all the major cities within the USA, New York City is considered one of the most diverse and this is a place where almost all people around the world can be found. Instead of calling NYC diverse, I think the best word to use is "Conglomerate". A number of different nationalities or people grouped together to form a whole but still remain distinct entities. Obviously, there is no confinement so there is still mixing as people commute to places. However, assuming you were drugged, put to sleep then released in some NYC neighborhood upon waking up, you might think you are in India, China, Latin America, Israel, Russia or some other places. The mixing is worse in some other US states though. The parts that you saw in the Bronx video are mainly dominated by people who trace their roots to Latin America/ Hispanics and Blacks (mix of African American, Caribbean, etc.). Yes, there are few whites in The Bronx, but not in that area shown in the video. Also, as you rightfully said, when you go a few miles up north into the suburbs like into Weschester County, you'll find wealthy neighborhoods (few blacks/ hispanics). Based on what other commenters have written, as more blacks or latino/ Hispanics move into a neighborhood, the more the whites disappear. For example, I learned that The Bronx was heavily dominated by whites some years back.

      Yes, I agree especially looking at how things look like right now. Learning Spanish will be helpful.

    The BRONX , looks like a cool place to visit. Busy, noisy, people everywhere. The locals would find rural life interesting, slow,quiet, people every now and then . The beautiful USA 🇺🇸.

      Hey Chris, rural life has its beauty. I see it as a place to go unwind, reenergize, heal and enjoy quality time with nature away from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle and it's artificial sounds, like we have in NYC. The 🚨sirens alone will drive you crazy here. Sorry kids, I forgot to mention those noisy Ice cream trucks in the summer 🍦. To live in a rural area (in America), I think having a car to move around once in a while will be helpful so I don't lose my sanity out of boredom, lol. Btw....I have spending some time in the Amazon Jungle on my bucket list. This will be a Rural-times-10 experience. When will this happen? Not sure yet. 😊

      Hey, so the Catskill Mt., the Appalachian trail are nearby and the wooly Adirondack Mt. a few hours north . Car camping, day hiking, etc for a change of pace .

    If you want to know how safe this place is, go at night and do a test. That will show you if it's safe or not.
