  • TOYOTA RUSH 2018 - The Toyota Rush compact SUV is in its second generation right now. It was launched in Indonesia last year with prices starting from Rs 11.5 lakh (IDR 239.9 million). If launched in India, this SUV will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur. However, that might not happen, here's why.
In Indonesia, the Rush is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 104PS of maximum power and 136Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic. Underpinned by a ladder frame-type platform, the Rush has a ground clearance of 220mm, which is 10mm more than the Duster's.
The Rush is available in Indonesia in two variants - G and TRD Sportivo - with both the transmission options. Its standard equipment list includes features like LED headlamps, alloy wheels, start/stop button, rear parking camera and tilt steering. The TRD Sportivo variant is better equipped and gets features like automatic climate control, keyless entry, touchscreen audio system, two-tone interior with soft-touch dashboard and TRD-specific cosmetic enhancements.
The big question is - will it come to India? Well, Toyota has expressed its intention of bringing in a compact SUV in India. And since it won’t be an India-specific product, it has to be one from the company’s global fleet only. So, the Rush is one of the SUVs Toyota can consider for India.
