Spin the crank one revolution and check the cam again.

thank you, after spining it another rotation we found out that the cam and chain is off by one tooth. this was the reason we could not get it to rev past 4k! very exciting.

I would lay some paint on the back of that bumper. That rust will eat it's way through in no time. Otherwise good stuff. I had a feeling it was the points.

thank you, Thats a good point and we will have to do that on both bumpers.

The reason the tops of the rockers are ground like that is to create a smooth uninterrupted surface to reduce the chance of stress cracking. Same reason we shot-peen rods, or clean up the casting on the inside of a block, no jagged edges for a crack to originate. Alpina did this to their competition engines. Now why some are polished up and others aren't in your engine? My guess is at some point a rocker or two broke and got replaced individually maybe?

oh that interesting and totaly makes sence, once we pull the head off we will probably finis off the ones that were repaced or skipped. thank you! :)

@@pnwproject4653 For sure man, there's "heavy duty" ones available as well which are pretty nice. I put them in the head I just built up on my channel.

Camshaft turns once for every two crank revs. You are 180° off.

@@pnwproject4653 sorry but, how are you certain that this was the fix? you also did the plugs and got rid of the breaker point-system perhaps that fixed it.
Your vids are very insightful for me, i'm also battling a mystery high-rev problem for over two years now.
