Hi! COVID nurse here! Please don’t try to “sweat out” your fever! This is a common misconception, that is actually very dangerous. The best thing you can do for your body is to help cool it down. Shed your layers, ice pack (or cool washcloths) under your arms and in your groin, no head coverings or socks, with a cool room. Hope this helps for next time!

Nurse here too.....there are so many elderly that still believe in this method. I remember having chicken pox as a child and my great grandmother (who was a retired nurse) had me sleeping on top and covered with with electric blankets. I still vividly remember hallucinating at one point....I'm still amazed I'm still alive 😆😆

I used to work for Carnival (way before Covid was a thing). I got really sick just in general and boy did it suck and I didn’t even have to quarantine I just was too sick to leave my room. I absolutely cannot imagine cruising during this time. I’m currently recovering from getting my booster. God bless you.

Jordan, glad to hear that you are on the mend. Wow! You have had quite the experience this contract. I remember when you boarded at the beginning you were quarantined, then didn’t get shore leave most of the time and now you test positive. I hope the rest of your contract is uneventful and you can safely return home to rest and recuperate. Take care!

Best wishes for you. I am a COVID "long-haul" survivor, meaning I've had lingering pulmonary problems for over 9 months after my hospital release. Like you, I can't exercise/work as before. It forced me into medical disability retirement. I've had a cruise scheduled on the Anthem of the Seas for almost 3 years of postponements now. I hope to do it this spring. The Anthem doesn't have an ice show, but maybe I can see you on another ship. Take care.

I was so upset when I saw this pop up that you are in quarantine. I must have missed a video somewhere along the way when you first got sick. I am sorry that I did not get to you earlier to wish you a quick recovery. I hope you are all better and out of quarantine by now. I am to go on a cruise at the beginning of April and now they are saying that cruise lines need to stop their cruises again. There is a big debate going on right now and all the travel agents are online talking about this. My guess is that my cruise will be canceled again, just as it was in December. If it takes much longer for this covid to leave us, I will never get to go on my last cruise, which is what this was to be for me. In my heart, I am 35, but my body tells me that I am way older than that. Well, pretty girl, it is time for you to get your rest and get feeling better, so I leave you with LOVE
    and prayers.💛💛💛💛

Bummer you caught Covid and were symptomatic. The skaters are awesome on RC! Our family was on the Symphony of the Seas over Christmas break - not sure if that is your ship. The staff was awesome even though a lot of the entertainment was cancelled likely because of Covid, and we saw the ghost ship (Rhapsody) following us everywhere and quickly guessed what it was doing. Stay safe but enjoy your experiences at sea! (We tested positive as soon as we got home after the cruise - go figure - but everyone is good)

I had covid, got over the worst part in 2 days... the Chills and Fever, but the shortness of breath and deep cough are still there. Actually had a coughing fit last night and i've been 2 days out of isolation. It's nice though that the cruse line did their best to take care of you guys to prevent further spread and to actually care for their staff.

We had foggers at the start of COVID for elevators when we had a dedicated COVID wing in our health center. Though that protocol didn't work all that well for new admits or returning residents admitted to the COVID wing. The oddest thing is most of my staff is vaccinated included myself yet we still go it. Free wifi while in isolation is awesome.

Long time watcher, first time commenter.
I've not been following social media so this is the first I saw about you getting it.
I'm a little concerned with the lack of check in by medical. Did they just assume you'd call if you got to sick? If you passed out, would they not realize until your next meal was to be served and the last one wasn't taken?
Would they have brought you water is you called? Is the water on the sink drinkable?
Also did the give you free access to the movies? When a cruise vlogger was quarantined they did for him.
I've seen reports of complaints of crew isolating with Covid, but I thought RC was taking more care of their crew
I'm cruising in about a month (Allure not Adventure though), and wasn't worried about quarantine, but now I am.

Oh my gosh I am so sorry this happened to you!!! This is literally my worst fear. I watched the HBO documentary about the passengers on a cruise ship in 2019 who were some of the first people outside of Wuhan, China to contract COVID, and that was horrifying. I am so glad you are feeling better, and I truly hope that you don't have any sort of long COVID symptoms. It must have been AWFUL to have to pack while you had a 104 degree fever, and then the fact that you had no water! You have one of the most stressful jobs I can imagine having during this pandemic. I'm really hoping for your continued safety and health. I really can't imagine people traveling and going on cruises during this pandemic.

I started feeling sick December 15. 4-5 really rough days. Congestion, no fever, soreness all over and no energy. I felt much better after 10-12 days.
Sending prayers and wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself.

I think the balcony air compression think is that there is higher air pressure outside because the air is warmer. The ship air is cooler. When the balcony is open air from the outside pressurizes the room and blows room air into the hallway. They don't want any of the room air to go into a common area. If you think about it you can hear the whistle under the front door sometimes. The cabins have HEPA filters in the room located in the square box On the ceiling in the center of the room. You can see the white edges of them.

Hey Jordan so sorry to hear about you catching the corona 19 virus. I myself contracted it last year right around this time. My case unfortunately was much more severe than yours. Thank God yours was considered mild even though you probably didn’t feel like it was a mild case. I happen to spend three weeks in the VA hospital in Providence Rhode Island where I was given the experimental drug Belem alarm. Thank God I wasn’t an incubated although I probably should have. However I ended up in an oxygen tank and just being in that for two weeks in itself totally sucked. Anyways after getting out of the hospital and I was able to go back home I had to get the vaccination shot which was the Moderno at the time. Which the following week I was back in the hospital because I had a heart attack. They said I had a reaction to both the experimental drug as well as the vaccine and then it put a Lotta fluid and pressure around my heart. Which drove me know to finally get better to take my cruise back in August. I figured I was going to celebrate my 54th birthday and cross off some bucket list that I always wanted to do.
I totally get what you were feeling if I may I just wanted to tell you some of the things that I learned about what happened to me when I caught the virus. First of all the COVID-19 virus is considered an airborne virus once it’s in your bloodstream it mutates and it attacks all your major vital organs as well as your bone structure. Where are you are in good health I am quite active you felt it’s worse through your bones and muscular structure maybe not so much in your lungs or your liver. I did not realize how bad this typical virus that was unleashed in China would be so devastating. A sidenote I lost my dad may the fourth of 2020 due to the corona 19 virus he was one of the first of eight veterans at the Veterans Home in Rhode Island to die from it. He was also suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and the virus just added more complications to his survival. Anyways I am glad you were able to make it through and for it to only affect you for a week or so you are very blessed.
Don’t be surprise for the next 4 to 5 months you tend to still feel weak when working out you will feel that way. I know I did. I wish you well in your next tour with Royal Caribbean and whatever ship you go on. I to a planning on going on another cruise in August for my birthday I would love to do a cruise every month but I still have to work. Lol. Period. Oh also congratulations on your Buffalo Bills beating the New England Patriots. Yes I was bummed out but I also know that after 20 great years of watching the patriots be so successful that we also have to step aside and allow all the people to rise the top. I’m still going to root for my Boston Bruins and I’m glad that took a Rask Tuukka Rask is back playing for the Bruins. I also was a Detroit redwings fan. Yasmin was probably one of my favorite players playing for the Red Wings. You might ask your boyfriend if he was a hockey fan and see if he was an Ovechkin Yasemin or Mala Chuck. I happen to go back to the days when I was a small kid watching Bobby Orr Gordie Howell Greg Middleton I really got into hockey in the 80s and so many years of watching my New England sports teams come so close to winning at all and yet they would fall short and leave us hoping for next year. Although we were always happy in the 80s when the Celtics would win.
I know I’ve talked a lot about myself and that wasn’t the case that I wanted it to be I really truly wanted it to be that I’m glad to see that you’re healthy and that you’re still staying with Royal Caribbean I enjoy watching your blogs and you give me some good insight of what to do on my next royal Caribbean cruise. Keeps logging stay healthy and Skateaway your truly a wonderful person. Always be blessed Kenny.

Hoping you NOW feel as fabulous as you look! My daughters and I sailed on Adventure Jan 7-12 and practically all Lyric Theater and Studio B shows were canceled, "due to unforeseen circumstances." A fellow (tipsy) cruiser joked that we only had a few things to do onboard.....eat, drink, swim and repeat! I must say, social distancing, mask wearing and hand washing protocols were followed by most cruisers. ALL of the staff/crew were double masked! So very sorry you and other crew members caught the virus. Praying for you ALL.

Hi Jordan, first off I hope you continue to feel better each day. I hear some folks having long term repercussions after having Covid-19. When my family had our first injection my husband and daughter had no problems. My son and I became mildly sick with a fever of 101° F. When we had our second injection my son and I were sick again. Although this time I had a fever of 103.3° F and my son had a fever 101° F. My head was pounding seriously, I was very nauseous, had chills and vertigo. My son and I stayed in our beds for a couple of days. Months later we had our booster shots and we all did quite well. I hate to imagine what it would be like without the vaccinations. Take care of yourself and take it slow back into your daily routine.

Considering everyone I know including myself vaccine or not all had the same symptoms. Do you know how stupid it sounds when people say imagine if I didn’t have the vaccine 😂. It would have been the same. The vaccine doesn’t work. If you get the virus you have the symptoms you had ( that 99.999%) of people have. Then other tiny percentage has more severe reaction. This notion that the vaccine is helping healthy young people like yourself is ridiculous. Videos like this only prove that it doesn’t work. At all. You had 3 vaccines. Still got it. Still had exact same symptoms as everyone else.

I had Omicron last month along with my entire family and my sickness was even more mild than yours. My fever only got to 100 and the body aches felt a little worse than my normal chronic pain. Glad you are better! Here in the US the quarantine has changed to 5 days.

I tested negative on a rapid test 5 days later and results from PCR were also negative.
      Both shots and booster.
Symptoms were mild with the except of congestion, congestion STILL lingering,
      UGH !!!

I had my first positive case in July 2022. I was not as sick as you described. I had a fever for a couple of days, had coughing and was exhausted. It lasted about a weeks then I continue to test positive for 14 days. Been fine since. The vaccinations and boosters do not prevent the Omicron virus. But now I have immunities from Omicron. I think. We hope to see your show on one of our RC cruises. We are the Oasis next week and more cruises next year.

😪 that cabin music that would not turn off as u were so sick. oooh that is so so so sad. my heart breaks for you....gosh not having water that first night. oh the ship has some 🤔🥺major things to work out. water should always!!! be in the room!!! that is a BASIC LIFE ESSENTIAL!!!
your fever 😪😪😪😪... your first night ... sounded almost unbearable. 💔
i did see good things the ship did... the fruit... the red zone...
the room w AT LEAST a window but .... oh my u neeeeeeeeeed fresh air!!! they neeeeed rooms w fresh air and sun shine!!!
if one thing i have learned about cruise ship during covid is ....all the workers rooms deserve/neeeeed windows...they each deserve/neeeed private rooms and fresh air!!!! a way to get SUNSHINE!!!... i think prisoners in many places have better accomidations than many cruise workers 😪😪😪😪😪
my niece just caught covid. she described it as u did ...my 88 year old dad is being tested tomorrow. please pray for him. 🙏
please pray for wisdom n discernment and safety for all who r making decisions about meeting in person.

Just an FYI from someone who works in medicine, you don’t want to bundle up when you have a fever. I know it’s super hard because you’re freezing. But layering up can actually make the fever worse because it’s making your body hotter. So the reason you were still cold was because of the fever getting higher. Just for anyone watching who gets it!
I had Covid too and it was miserable, I was freezing but my fever never got over 103! I hope this doesn’t come off rude, I just wanted to give some info to help with Covid recovery.
I’m glad you’re feeling better though!! 💕 sending you best wishes!

I work from home so I continue to work. That is probably why I still feel tired. I had a 3 day weekend so I slept a lot. I hope I serve the work week. At least it’s only 4 days. Omg I’m so sorry to hear that you got Covid! But on the plus side I’m happy to hear that you are getting better with each and every day. Trust me I understand how you felt when you were trying to workout. I got sick with Covid and as soon as I thought I was better I wanted to jump back into working out again. But I swear the energy just wasn’t there. For me it took a solid 2 weeks for me to feel less fatigued when trying to even walk on the treadmill, let alone lifting weights. I remember being so mad because my mind was like oh you’re losing your muscle and gains. So I pushed myself when I should have taken it easier.🤦🏽‍♀️ Pre workout was my best friend for a while. I felt like I had to ween myself off of it.😅 Anyhoo, lots of love from Georgia!❤️ May you continue to get better and better and your strength and stamina return quickly!
