    Kawasaki's ability to re-create a retro looking bike coupled with modern motor and other parts is way beyond any of the other manufacturer's. I was in love with the brown/orange SE but am starting to really like this black one.

    My first Street bike was a 1975 Kawasaki H1 and to my nostalgic mind that's what a motorcycle is supposed to look like. These new retro-modern bikes are just freakin beautiful, especially this one. But I'm completey in love with the Triumph Bonneville T120 and I was about to crack open the check book and buy one this week. But then I stumbled into one of these in a parking lot in my town and I was stunned by how great it looked. I'm definitely going to have to take one for a spin before I pull the trigger on the Triumph. Damn it! I thought I was finally done bike shopping and then this came along! I'm still probably going for the T120. I've been pestering the Triumph sales guy for two months. Two test rides and and some chatting up the service tech and I kind of feel like he earned a sale, but damn this Kawy is hot! I should sell the wife's car and buy both!

      My first bike was a 1975 H1, my brother an H2. We know! Then I got a 1979 Bonneville. Excellent. After a half dozen bikes later a 2005 FL now. I’m really thinking about getting this Z900. Yes you should buy both, hope you did at least get one of them by now.

    I had a 73 900 Z1
    Vibrated alot compared to todays bikes. 93 hp stock. I had Kerker 4 into 2 and it sounded great. Brown and orange. Air cooled and it had an automatic chain oiler adjustable but it just made a mess of the back wheel. I used PJ 1 chain lube. This is a close looking bike. I Like it!

    Love the bike but for retro reborn they should of put the twin rear shocks instead of the single sport style, and the crome twin exhausts with all that the bike would be true spirit moder retro Z line. Nice video and presentation.

    • @Ritalie
      @Ritalie 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Twin exhausts and dual shocks. The monoshock and super tall rear end, doesn't look quite right. But it's grown on me, and I think I like it more now. It's like someone modified an original bike and made it better, but it still has the same energy and essence of the Z1.

    I got my 2018 black Z900RS for $8899. Unlike some high and mighty motorcycle brands ( Harley and Indian ) Kawasaki will deal with you. MSRP was $10,299 but it was the end of August and they were getting rid of the 2018s. I could have gotten the lime green cafe racer for $9,999 but opted to go the conservative route and got the black one. The rootbeer metallic and orange is the hardest one to find. If your dealer has one get it or someone else will.

    A lot of people criticize the four into one exhaust saying that they should of had the four into four exhaust. People are going to want to do performance upgrades to save weight and gain power, and the aftermarket performance exhaust systems probably would of been tuned four into one systems so they just saved you a step.

    • @ridewherever
      @ridewherever 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lee Curran
      Zee is the American way of saying the letter z. Zed is the British way. Neither is right or wrong, and nobody is ignorant for pronouncing z the way they do.
      “Zee” was adopted in the 19th century and approved in 1827 in the United States.

    I'd still want to yank off that exhaust for a new one as it's double tube head pipes.. Keep the outside looking shiny and silvery but adds another 20+lbs and I'd rather have the bike be even lighter and the pipes turn gold like stainless should. That's something (among many other things) I hate about the new Harleys with the fake covers on the pipes, extra weight that Harley definitely could go without, and they never change colors. Seeing the little bit of blue at the head and then down into gold on the old school chrome pipes always was really pretty looking. The other thing is it makes you think you have more exhaust flow than you really do, those pipes look the right size for the engine but then you realize that the actual ID of the inside tube is probably at least half an inch smaller and you lament the idea.
    I sat on one of those a couple weeks ago and I'm still blown away by just how comfortable it was! I really did not want to get off of the bike, way more comfortable than our couch. And that's coming from a guy with scoliosis that threw his back out over half a dozen times last year and has a bunch of peaks on the vertebrae in his lower back.. I'm not comfy very often. Oh and I stand about 6'7 when relaxed to boot (6'10ish at full stretch) and while the bars could've been up and towards the headlight an inch and I could used wider grips and the pegs a little farther forward.. I could probably ride it stock for a while and not be too uncomfortable.

      These 948cc engines have the max torque shifted lower into the 3-7 K range. You give up some horsepower at the top but gain if back in real useable grunt down low. You want a sleeper for Friday night on main street, this might be it.

    A great new model harking back to the early 70s in design and a great review by the way. The only thing that is not that obvious about this bike is that like the current Z900 this bike is small no where near the size of the old Z900/1000 thus when you add a pillion the bike looks dinky. Meant for solo riding really, its a pity they didn't use a larger frame. I'm sure it will have a great following though.
