This track is extremly special to me. I listened to it 4 a.m on the very foot of Kebnekaise(highetst mountain in Sweden) gazing up on the nearby mountains reaching up through the fog. I could feel how ancient my surrounding was. Then the whole album carried me all the way to the top. Will never forget it.
At The Heart Of Winter is definitely one of the best Immortal songs! Also today is the 19th anniversary of Immortal's "Sons of Northern Darkness" album🤘🏻🔥
OH YESSS! OH YESSS! I've been listening to this album and this song in particular *since 1999,* and it never loses any of its _magnificence!_ Oh, the guitarwork... This. Is. Pure. Ice!
A fantastic song from a brilliant album by the legendary "Immortal". The entire album is full of brilliant and killer riffs. Every song on this album is a masterpiece.
UUH YEAH! I think this is the best Immortal song. I remember listening this a lot when bicycling in finland at winter in snow covered roads. This is the best!
oh yes, he can do it live! At the time of at heart of winter Demonaz played the guitar and Abbath played the bass. Demonaz left, Abbath took over the guitar (self taught) and just went for it. Immortal split a few years ago, Abbath did some motorhead tribute stuff, a solo thing (which was great) and is now just "Abbath". Immortal has reformed in their own way and released a new album but never performed live yet, impossible to get to them and get them to play for some obscure reason. And they are NØrsk (Norway), not Swedish :)
This album was produced by Peter Tagtgren, the leader of Hypocrisy, and vocalist in his side project P.A.I.N. you probably heard their “shut your mouth” clip, was pretty popular even outside of metal fan base. He is genius producer and he gave this album that unique sound and the road for those youngsters to Nuclear Blast contract (which was the top notch dream kind of label for many metal bands back then, maybe even now). Even Abbath and Demonaz were quite shocked of his work on the sound production and pretty damn happy with the result. This was the moment of fame for Immortal and path to a big scene being black metal band.
Love you guys so much and this channel. Thank you for all the hard work you put in to making it awesome. It doesn't go unnoticed. You're greatly appreciated my friends. 🤘🤙
immortal ( dont forget the band ''I'' .) with abbath \m/ '' battalions'' '' in my kingdom cold'' ''tyrants'' ''one by one'' ''sons of northern darkness''
It's true that Immortal wasn't and hasn't been "satanic" in same way as many other early Norwegian black metal bands. It was and still is however very very anti-christian band.
@Kristian Alexander Svardal Yes. They are very very anti-christian band as I said. Thre's nothing satanic about inverted cross per se. Pleasy study more and stop making nonsense comments.
Not serous at all. Just pointing out that inverted cross is not satanic, it's anti-christian. Knowing who ever doesn't change that. Of course you can be a satanist and wear an inverted cross or whatever.
Rotting Christ is so damn good. I had forgotten how great they were until I started playing a game called Mortal Shell. They have a RC add on pack for boss fighting music.
I know that most of the people are young here but guys this band has some good stuff in their older works like for example Blashyrkh (Mighty Ravendark) or battles in the north or the call of the wintermoon.!! \m/
The Keyboards in the beginning are totally unusual for Immortal, but they perfectly fit the album cover in its whole mood! Perfect title track as the other five songs are too! This album is a pure classic! 😍 But I would like to watch a reaction to "Call Of The Wintermoon" from the debut "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism"! The video clip to this song is... hmmm... please form your own opinion! 😉😁
Immortal one was one of the first ones, consisting of a crew of real-life Norwegian builders, which started to play black metal to cope with the hard work on the ice cold sites... They are one of the best bands to have on your player, while being out in the winters cold in snow and wind to get you moving and shit done efficiently. ))) The main catch is, that in Black-Death Metal you always seem to go for a raid either to the mountains or on the seas. )))
nah freezing moon you guys only heard the bad versions, can't blame you though, back in those days production was unreliable to say the least, and they surely couldn't do a remastered version with Death, since he killed himself..
There are some black metal bands from Maine. Most of them are from the Portland, ME area. Obsidian Tongue, Falls of Rauros, Feral, Eave are all good examples. Obsidian Tongue is actually very good.
That's not the point, if it's grim in New York or Boston, it's different. Because, like it was written on Wikipedia, people go into the woods to be alone, and there being alone with themselves they write this dark music like Black Metal
If you dont know them, you should check "A hill to die upon" it is a very good black metal band from the USA, Illinois. Try the song Prometheus Rebound. Good sounding, intresting themes and lyrics full of thoughts.
Did you just describe Virginia? Lmao I'm one of the few Black Metal guitarists I know here. We have some local bands. We're all out in the rural areas. Lots of inspiration here...Seems like most of us Black Metal musicians are from a rural small town with not much happening in it. Immortal always has those melodic riffs, good stuff. Check out another Black Metal band: Craft - The Cosmic Sphere Falls
This entire album is a massive riff machine from beginning to end
🤘🏿
Indeed man. It is so incredibly good.
yup. even solid thrashers were in awe of it when it came out

Thanks to Mr. Peter Tagtgren for production, engeneering and mixing. Without his "touch" Immortal will never be like he is.

Well, Demonaz never really "left" as he's been the manager and writer ever since, before his return. Currently the whole band is on hold.
Forgot to mention " I - Between Two Worlds".
