Your video is the best to explain how to replace the blades step by step. 👍

A great video that covers all the important points for this type of mower. Just some additional points for consideration.
-Some remove the spark plug entirely just to be completely safe. Can be a good time to inspect the state of the spark plug and replace if necessary. Alternatively, cover the spark plug lead with another zip lock bag just to be 100% confident that no arcing can occur.
-If you tip the mower on it's side, make sure to tip it so that the air filter and carburetor are facing upwards. This minimises the chances of oil and petrol inside the engine leaking into the air filter. Some prefer to tip the mower in a way where the handle ends up on the floor and the front of the mower is lifted. Probably the safest bet but requires something or someone to weigh down the mower at the handle end while you work underneath it.
-If any of the existing bolts or nuts are really stiff, use a breaker bar to release them. Then use the socket wrench to remove them quickly. Takes a little more time but you minimise the chances of damaging your socket wrench.
-Try and get a feel for how tight all the nuts and bolts are as you remove them. And then put the new ones on and tighten them to a similar tightness. Ideally, use a torque wrench to tighten the new bits to the manufacturer specification. But if you have not torque wrench, try and tighten the new bits to the same level as the old ones were.
-Follow the instructions on the blade packaging to the letter. The new parts need to be put on in an excact order for functional and safety reasons.
-Once you have replaced the blades, check how they are after you have used the mower for 5 minutes. And then check them again for the first few mows just to make sure that nothing is coming loose. This is really important especially if you didn't use a proper torque wrench to install the new blades.

Excellent video. I find it bizarre that Victa recommends you tilt the lawn mower up vertically rather lying it on the side (because of the oil and petrol perhaps) and for users to access through the catcher to change the blade. Yet it is fair easier from the base as how you've shown it. Secondly, I've got a Honda motor too, and I noticed you've used Honda blades. Was that personal preference or is that how you're supposed to do it? I've bought a Victa set so am wondering if I did it wrong?

Any tips on how to "crack" the single 14mm bolt holding the blade plate on the mower? I just can't get it to budge and destroyed my socket wrench when I smacked it with a mallet trying to get it off. The bolt itself actually looks like it is welded on there??!? 😕

I have used a butane blowtorch to heat bolt. A bit of thermal expansion can do wonders. Sometimes followed by liberal amounts of wd40.

Never use a socket wrench to remove nuts / bolts that are stuck. Use a properly sized breaker bar or a spanner. Attack really stuck ones with some heat or penetrating oil.

    • @PABERCRO

Absolutely - I do... but once they become more damaged I tend to replace them to keep a spinning object well balanced..

I was actually after the order of the washers, so yes, was a bit vague and freezing the diagram even without the finger in the road didn't help much because of the hole in the diagram!
