Without doubt and no disrespect to any of the other female companions but Mary Tamm was the most beautiful female to accompany the Doctor. The air and grace and statuesque aurora that just surrounded her was so powerful. A great pity she did not stay on to meet the daleks and count scarlioni.. RIP my lady. You are sorely missed. Rest well.
Yes put me in the small camp who believe that Mary Tamm was The Noblest Romana Of Them All. In fact she is a highly underrated companion. She was brilliant.
I have always felt that the decided contrasts between Mary Tamm's Romana and Lalla Ward's Romana was one of the best things ever shown on Doctor Who, and easily par for any personality changes undergone by the Doctor. Why? Because she demonstrated that it wasn't just the Doctor who had a proverbial soul of a thousand facets, but EVERY Gallifreyan, at least potentially. They both walked with an aristocratic air and ease, but different flavors, different ways of feeling. It is very hard to explain, but Romana, the Gallifreyan woman we saw in two distinct incarnations, made the possibilities of and with her species, their personalities, their subtleties, so much more ... Vast ... than they otherwise might have been, had it only been the Doctor who had so many variations between lives.
Above all I will remember the beautiful Mary Tamm as a truly consummate actress. She took the character of Romana, a part which, as scripted, could have easily appeared cold and unlikeable, and within the space of a few episodes made us fall in love with her. The more I saw of her as a person and as an actress over the years, the more I loved her. Yet another classic Who companion lost to us far too soon... Mary, to a whole generation of fans you were loved and will be greatly missed xxx
She was my first crush, such an achingly beautiful beautiful woman, seems very strange to watch this now and to have such memories return, I’m not unconvinced I haven’t been looking for my own Romana all my life
Mary Tamm is Romana to me she done some wonderful Big Finish audios and was brilliant in the Key To Time series she even wore the trousers in her and the Doctor's relationship
I didn't know she passed away. ☹️😥 I fell instantly in love with Mary Tamm from episode 1 of THE RIBOS OPERATION, and I'm still in love with her after all these years. So beautiful, so talented, so well-spoken and intelligent, so classy. My world just got a little darker tonight. Rest in peace, dear Mary! I will always hold you in my heart. I'll love you always. God grant you rest!! 🤗😘💓💕🌹
The companions of Doctor Who never get the recognition they deserve. They are the lense we view The Doctor from, a good companion can save a bad Doctor.
Watching Classic Who introduces you to so much that is beautiful, that is amazing, but so many of the actors are already gone: the timeless Elisabeth Sladen, the stalwart Nicholas Courtney, the stunning Mary Tamm... Three Doctors, far too many companions. It breaks my heart to watch, knowing they are all gone, but I suppose that's the wonderful thing about who - it transcends time and space, and through Who they will never die, but live forever in the hearts of the world. Goodbye, one and all.
A fitting farewell, not just to Mary Tamm, but all the others that in recent times that we have lost: Lis Sladen, Nick Courtney, Caroline Ford. All will be missed, but NEVER forgotten!
I love romanan 2 but romanan one is growing on my so much I love romman one some much i keep on going back to watch season 16 and I think romanan one is the reason why I keep going back to series 16 of classic Dr who story
Great job.... The sad news is that Mary was always one of those that always said Yes to doing audio stories as Romana and with Tom back recording the stories we were SO looking forward to hearing stories from the first Romana and as well as Sarah Jane - it's such a kick in the teeth.... I just hate Cancer.......
This is ever so sad. Mary Tamm worked with Tom Baker better than anybody else in his era and they are my favourite Doctor/Companion Duo of the entire series. Mary Tamms straight character playing off Tom Bakers comedic characteristics works so well and it allows for some truly fantastic scenes. The Key to Time is a Fantastic season and mostly because of these two actors. RIP Mary Tamm.
May she never be forgotten. A revolutionary character in the show and an absolute breath of fresh air that still sparkles with wit nearly 35 years later.
I would wholeheartedly recommend her episodes to any fan for Doctor Who. The very first companion in the show's history to stand as his intellectual equal, she was as sharp as a pin and a delight to laugh with.
This was a superb tribute to Mary Tamm. My first introduction to Doctor Who was through the Sci-Fi Channel, which only ran Robot-Androids of Tara. I loved all the companions in those stories, but Mary took my breath away. She still does. I'm so glad you chose clips from all her stories, and wonderful moments like her saying "Goodbye", and being named Romana. This is pure class.
This is a beautiful tribute to a wonderful lady. I had the opportunity to meet Ms Tamm in July 2007. I made the usual small talk and asked if I may pose for a photograph with her, which Mary delightfully agreed to. Although years had passed since her leaving Doctor Who, she was still as charasmatic and strikingly beautiful as she had been back then. I was only 7 when Mary played the role of Romana, but she made a lasting impression on me. She was indeed, to quote the Doctor, the noblest Romana.
Wonderful tribute to a lovely lady and, in Tom Baker's words, a darling companion. Only 62. That's just two years older than my mum. It's horrible when you think of it that way. My thoughts are with her husband, daughter and grandson and all of her friends at this terrible time. She'll be remembered with great affection by generations of "Doctor Who" fans for decades to come.
A beautiful tribute to a beautiful woman. I loved Mary's Romana and this is just so sad. As much as I love these tributes, no more for a long time I hope...
A beautiful tribute. The repetition of the pictures is an appropriate reminder, and the clips of Mary Tamm are perfectly chosen. She truly was one of my favourite companions and this captures her grace and the memories we have of her perfectly.
Lovely tribute! Seeing the 4 of them, Nic, Lis, Carrie and Mary, along with so many others, Bill, Pat, Jon, and various directors, producers, writers, crew, cast and guests, really shows how we may forget that the Classic series will be 50 years old, come next year, and that, while some of us revel in the new series and young breed of stars, it was really these people who set the standards and endured the hardships of early budget TV production to bring us a truly great show! RIP Mary, et al. x
RIP Mary Tamm, my favourite Romana. The legacy will last after the body has failed. It seems like all you've been making lately is tributes, so sad that we've lost so many of our childhood heroes lately. Thank you for creating such beautiful memorials to them. xx
Another great job. Romana is always ranked near the top of Companions, and while taking nothing away from Lalla Ward, Mary Tamm's glamorous & intelligent take on Romana was instrumental in lifting Romana high on Best Companions List. Wonderful Romanas...both of them. In Memoriam: Mary Tamm.
She certainly was one of the most beautifully stunning actresses in doctor who. Lovely tribute, you smartly used mostly close ups to make up this tribute, her beauty was enjoyed on DW and it is the one quality (alhough she had many great ones) for which she will never be forgotten. It gave me goosebumps. Perfect choice of song as well. Thank you BabelColour for making this wonderful tribute to the amazing Mary Tamm.
I've had to wait ages to see this because I only get a good enough connection at work - you've lived up to my expectations, Babel. I *adored* Mary Tamm's Romana. I was one of those little girls who suddenly realised Companions could be Cool - no more shrieking and hiding; here was a lady who was the Doctor's equal. And gorgeous with it. I've got The Key To Time sequence on DVD and she's so brilliant in it. RIP, Mary - what great memories you've left us with.
You, good sir, have done it again with your beautiful tribute to yet another Doctor Who heroine we have lost. Thank you kindly for making these tributes to the men and women of Doctor Who so many of us will miss.
Stunning tribute to Mary Tamm. She was a beautiful woman, a wonderful actress and a noble Romana. Her passing is tragic, made even more so by the passing of her husband following her funeral. She will be missed. Condolences to their family. RIP.
You have produced wonderful, moving tributes to people we have lost over the past two years. I think they would be touched as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It's been a rough 12 or so months for Whovians, hasn't it? I wasn't even alive when Caroline, Nic, Sarah or Mary were on Doctor Who, but I grew to love them all so much. I dread the coming years as others I love so much inevitably pass on. This was a beautiful tribute! Mary was a wonderful Romana and a beautiful person, she will be greatly missed.
Your tribute to Mary Tamm and the others was awesome and beautiful. Of all those who passed,I've got to meet Mary Tamm twice and Nicholas Courtney once. Enough,Grim Reaper, enough! Let the Doctor Who people be!
I loved Romana so much.. it's so sad to hear of her death. I feel like I can mourn properly by focusing on this song and the beautiful tribute you made. Thank you. I wouldn't have wanted to learn of her death any other way.
So sad, i only picked up a big finish audio starring her in it. She was amazing then and all ways. Big finish gives us the chance to hear past dr's and companions in new adventures.
I wish I was older, I wish I had gotten got to see so many of the wonderful companions that have now sadly passed one. The new ones are brill, but these old ones are in a completely different league. Curse my age :-( Thanks for the vid!
Thank you to all for the swathes of generous and kind comments about the video. I had a great love for Mary and the first Romana. I'm glad that could be translated in the tribute.
Moving very moving. Shocking, tragic and so so sad. Mary was glamorous, intelligent, marvellous and worked wonderfully with Tom. Hearing their DVD commentaries with each other was always entertaining, delightful... and now very precious. "The smarter you are, the better prepared you are to make decisions in your life, the more likely you are to lead a satisfying life and be glamorous and fun and anything you want to be." Mary Tamm had that and more. Season 16 was always gold - now it's jethrik.
At a Star Trek Into Darkness screening, I met DW fans who had no idea who Romana was (or had ever heard of her). How sad they know nothing of this glamorous & beautiful & bright character. Among the very best Companions. Farewell, dear Romana...the Doctor's only true equal!
Thank you so very much for such another beautiful piece of work. The time and effort you've clearly put into these tributes for the wonderful people who have contributed to this timeless show is simply inspiring. You are the noblest tribute-maker of them all. Rest in peace, the glorious Mary Tamm.
I see the word "beautiful" in many of the comments. Very fitting. Great tribute. It was the key of time series that hooked me on Doctor Who. Rest in piece Mary (so sad so many are moving on too soon)
The one and only Time Lord companion. Beautiful, smart, kind, funny, and just plain magnificent. She was a huge part of Doctor Who history and will never leave our hearts as she joins our other lost stars up in the sky. May she rest in peace for all of time.
Mary portrayed one of my all-time favourite companions in the series. There's a select upper echelon of characters we all hold dear as our personal favourites, though these may differ from fan to fan. But, for me, The first Romana, Harry Sullivan, Sarah Jane Smith and Ian & Barbara are the archetypes that other companions aspire to. It is merely a personal connection to them, but now four of them have gone. The stars are going out and the sadness and swell of affection for them only grows.
Not merely the best Romana, she ranks amongst the best companions of all, for me. Such a wonderfully cool, sexy, aloof, educated, sarcastic, witty, noble companion. I adored her.
Absolutely - my mother, 89, whose favourite Doctor is Jon Pertwee. Two friends of mine who also love the series are in their mid-70s One, a writer, who is into Shakespeare as well, and the other a comic strip artist, with his own underground comics character on the net. Both, like myself, love both the classic and the new. The writer rung me and told me of Mary Tamms passing. An incredible shock to learn of this and of her husband's death shortly afterwards. A terrible time for their family.
Rest well.
Imo Lalla Ward is more beautiful
Tom Baker's voice constantly calling out for Romana just fits so perfectly in this video.
I'm not saying this is bad I still think this is ahmazing (high pitch voice) but I think it's kinda annoying but again not a hater
@@LordOfRibena I admit, it sounds kinda weird after a while. But it's a nice tribute.
It's extra sad that her Husband died from a broken heart just hours after her funeral
I am currently on season 18 of Classic Who, and no offense to Lalla Ward, but I miss Marry Tamm so much. She was so regal.
I like Lalla Ward, but I must admit she felt a bit bland compared to Mary Tamm.
So under rated as a companion and by far the most gorgeous.....Rest Mary...Rest
So unfortunate that we're losing more and more actors from the classics series.
Above all I will remember the beautiful Mary Tamm as a truly consummate actress. Aren't we all
very sad Mary Tamm died you were a great Romana from the ribos operation - the armageddon factor doctor who RIP Mary
"The Key to Time" was my first Doctor Who experience. She was such a stunning woman. :(
Mary Tamm is Romana to me she done some wonderful Big Finish audios and was brilliant in the Key To Time series she even wore the trousers in her and the Doctor's relationship
I just finished watching her episodes and she quickly became one of my favorites, beauty, brains and toughness that's our Romana. R.I.P. Mary Tamm.
+Tommy McNulty Mine too. Not matter what anyone says, Mary Tamm is Romana like Tom Baker is the Doctor and Antony Ainley is the Master.
I didn't know she passed away. ☹️😥 I fell instantly in love with Mary Tamm from episode 1 of THE RIBOS OPERATION, and I'm still in love with her after all these years. Always loved her in the role. RIP
Romana was character with so much potential and interest played to this potential well by miss Tamm who very talented and even more beautiful.

BabelColour Your welcome. I just wonder if fans of the new era will feel the same if and when one of the stars of the new era passes away
***** ya she is but jaqline hill is not she played Barbra so maybe you were thinking of her
A favourite assistant! Deserved more roles! ❤
So many have passed ! Makes me feel older than I am
I love romanan 2 but romanan one is growing on my so much I love romman one some much i keep on going back to watch season 16 and I think romanan one is the reason why I keep going back to series 16 of classic Dr who story
Another beautiful tribute from the genius that is Babelcolour
Goodbye Time lady :(
Glad she came back to big finish for a season. During chemotherapy made her a hero for the fans.
R.I.P Mary Tamm
My favorite classic who companion :(

I can't believe it's been nearly four years since Mary Tamm has died. It felt like just yesterday I found out she died.
Time Lady For Ever the original
I would wholeheartedly recommend her episodes to any fan for Doctor Who. The very first companion in the show's history to stand as his intellectual equal, she was as sharp as a pin and a delight to laugh with.
The Best Romana
Thank you BabelColour.
+ZBionicle It was both my pleasure and my sadness
I'm touched that it reached people and that they thought it suitably beautiful for such a beautiful lady.
Thanks for making this she was my grandma
You're joking
Actually?
Really cool
A snappy dresser, and a gorgeous lady. Never occured to me she was 62. Sadly missed. Great work as always Babel

There could not possibly be a sadder lead up to the 50th anniversary than the deaths of such loved and cherished stars.
I had forgotten what a stunning woman she was. Another fitting tribute by BabelColour.
Rip 😢
It's a brilliant audio. A fantastic tribute to Mary.
It's poignant that Aunt Florence says Romana has centuries of life left in her
I absolutely agree. They were the stars who built the affection and reputation and global love for the series.
This is a beautiful tribute to a wonderful lady. I had the opportunity to meet Ms Tamm in July 2007. You, good sir, have done it again with your beautiful tribute to yet another Doctor Who heroine we have lost. Thank you kindly for making these tributes to the men and women of Doctor Who so many of us will miss.
You make the most beautiful tributes, Babel.
Until we meet again, Mary. You'll never be forgotten.
Stunning tribute to Mary Tamm. She was a beautiful woman, a wonderful actress and a noble Romana. Her passing is tragic, made even more so by the passing of her husband following her funeral. She will be missed. Condolences to their family. RIP.
Lovely tribute Babel. All I have to say is Great chunks of our past detaching themselves like melting icebergs. R.I.P Mary Tamm
You have produced wonderful, moving tributes to people we have lost over the past two years. I think they would be touched as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
A lovely post and so true. She was stunning, and a remarkable addition to the legacy and success of the show.
Mary was a wonderful Romana and a beautiful person, she will be greatly missed.
what e a lovely tribute
I just tripped over these beautiful tributes, and now its going to be a very melancholy night.
BabelColour, you make such beautiful, moving tributes to companions of the Doctor.
I just love this one so much. Thank you so much for this and for putting it to Enya's One by One, such a fitting song
+Cømmaηdεя Pεggy “ℳiѕѕ Uηιση Jαcк” ℳcGεε™ - Thank you
Enya and Romana .... Magnificent !!!
Thank you. I'm glad I can convey some of the beauty of their performance in the tributes.
Your tribute to Mary Tamm and the others was awesome and beautiful. Of all those who passed,I've got to meet Mary Tamm twice and Nicholas Courtney once. Enough,Grim Reaper, enough! Let the Doctor Who people be!
Moving as always Babel. I couldn't believe it when my husband told me the news, such a shock and a huge loss. RIP Mary, we'll never forget you.
I loved Romana so much.. it's so sad to hear of her death. I feel like I can mourn properly by focusing on this song and the beautiful tribute you made. Thank you. I wouldn't have wanted to learn of her death any other way.
This is an excellent tribute to a truly wonderful woman. Rest in peace our favorite time lady, Mary Tamm.
Quite a beautiful tribute to a revolutionary Time Lady. good work Babel. RIP Mary

As lovely as the subject and the quality we expect from you. Thank you Babelcolour. RIP Mary Tamm.
It is desperately sad. Though I'm glad other fans have appreciated the tributes to the icons we have lost.
It's either Romana or Fred - one of my favourite Who quotes. :) Great tribute, thanks for putting it all together.
At a Star Trek Into Darkness screening, I met DW fans who had no idea who Romana was (or had ever heard of her). How sad they know nothing of this glamorous & beautiful & bright character. Among the very best Companions. Farewell, dear Romana...the Doctor's only true equal!

As always, excellent job BabelColour capturing what all Whovians are feeling.
Possibly the most beautiful woman ever to appear in Doctor Who.
Rest in Peace, Mary Tamm.
You did it again fantastic tribute so many have we lost but never forgotten RIP

Wow, unbelievable... its hard to believe that we lost another great Doctor Who companion. But-she will always be remembered.

Thank you for this lovely tribute to Mary Tamm.
RIP Mary Tamm. You will be missed greatly :(
Touching and beautifully done video Babel :) A great work.
