The worst part is that sometimes if you beat them, they'll spin back and try to kill you on a higher level slot AND if they fail again (or if you're already high level) they'll call their guild.
Who knew that having an origin that kills people to progress in a PERMADEATH game would be flawed. It's not like the devs saw what Dark Souls has and decided to put that in their game without realizing why Dark Souls has said system.
Me and my freind were in the isles, and a voidwalker attacked my friend while i was modifying my mantras. He ran inside to get me, and when the voidwalker saw that he had a friend, he turned around and ran like a dog. I figured that was the end of it, so we went to etris to sell some things. While we were selling, the og voidwalker came back with a friend to jump us. Suprisingly, we won, and gripped them. They then SPUN BACK and LOST AGAIN, at which point the OG voidwalker turned around and ran when he saw his friend die. We then went down to the docks, and the OG voidwalker came back again, and his freind from before came back on his max level alt. We killed the OG voidwalker, but the max level killed us both. Voidwalkers in general seem to take personal offense to getting killed, despite the fact that they started the fight, often times spinning back on max level alts just for cool points
As a Voidwalker I would like to say this, that guy was pathetic, I don't care if I lose a bounty, I'll just say ggs and either get my life back or escape the depths like a reasonable normal player. (Same thing for the other way around, ggs then tp back to do another bounty)

i love when voidwalker shows up and not only flashbangs me with mantras but also makes my shitty laptop explode because of all the clutter on the screen
You explained exactly why I am not playing anymore. I managed to get to power 20 just because I am good at escaping the depths because I can pve well, but in terms of pvp, I might as well be a perma freshie. Void walkers are the biggest reason I get sent to the depths. The second biggest reason is people that surprise attack me for no understandable reason. I would love to learn to pvp, but the amount of time that would take for me is too much. I hope they fix this soon. If they don't fix this, I just want to be able to fight monsters without random people killing me while I am busy. (Or at all.)
a simple way to improve is just to get a friend and 1v1 a bunch, not the most fun way ik but still a possible and safe way. i am not meatriding deepwoken btw i think there should be better pvp systems

coming from someone who’s been primarily a PvE player since I bought the game, recently trying to learn PvP has been such an unnecessarily long, drawn out process that it honestly just makes me wonder if the game even WANTS me to learn its mechanics. The rotation usually goes like -> I make a build that I think would be fun -> Go into Chime of Conflict to try to learn combat -> Immediately lose all three of my lives due to my inexperience -> Don’t play chime so I don’t wanna have to escape the depths for the 20th time. It just feels so counter productive to actually getting new players into their game, like what???
the only mistake in this video is saying 100+ hour player 100 hours is nowhere near enough to be experienced enough at this game to get around all the issues you bring up
im at 1200 hours and for deepwoken standards thats not even absurd playtime. 100 hours is still basically new. no one at 100 hours is consistently defending themselves from voidwalkers nor will they escape every issue he brought up.
@@Champ_7298 man i havent played inna long time and im still so far ahead in hours Truth is dudes at 300 hours still die to npcs its crazy the time investment
I'm pretty experienced player and I almost play the game exclusively for the pvp. I love how you brought up how much of an issue chime of conflict skulls were. Oh no, I lost twice in a row. Gotta wait a whole day to be able to play this game mode again or beg for people to give me free skulls. Neither option to continue fighting in chime is fun, but I do genuinely think the pvp is fun. I can make a full complete build in about 3 hours. Maybe longer depending on the Oath I'm trying to get. All I do once I complete a build is go to Chime or Conflict. I play the game for the pvp part, not the risk part, so I don't participate in ganks. I still log when I hear a voidwalker, though I'll occasionally take the fight if I have nothing to lose. Still, most voidwalker fights aren't even worth taking because the loot isn't that great and it's mad risky. The risk isn't worth the reward. At best, you'll get that end game outfit that takes like 10 minutes of grinding at a specific location to get, or monster parts required to make said outfit. I'll say another thing about overworld ganking. It actually sucks. If you are somewhat experienced in pvp and you gank a player that is alone, and they are a similar power level to you, you're going to demolish them. The average player is not too competent in pvp. At that point, it's not even fun since I'd rather fight someone thay can fight back, hence why I exclusively play Chime of Conflict. Chances of you getting someone that can fight back while overworld ganking is like 1/50. And if I gank them, I can't rematch them if I thought the fight was fun. Someone is either running away or dying in this gank, and that's it. I also turn to the Deepwoken Discord to get some pvp fights. I'll ask for someone to fight for a while, they pull up, and we fight as much as we want. No risk, no reward, but it's fun as hell and I can rematch. That was my yap session. Ganking sucks. Voidwalker system sucks. Chime skulls suck.
In my opinion would be cool if when a voidwalker come near to you, both are teleported to a "void area" and the first to lose all his hp drop the chest with their items without die
your solution to void walker I don't agree with but I get your point, but I'm 1000% with you on the chimes skulls, most useless, outdated, monkey cave man brain idea ever, and Logically its makes no sense to have chime skulls in the game for one like u said it makes the barrier to entry pvp stupid high, a pvp game mode for midless pvp without punishment exist (Battle royal), AND not a singe person in high chimes gets affected by skull cus when they drop to 1 skull, they ask the other high chime player to "dodge" which lets them leave without elo loss while giving the other person a skull back, so the Chime Skull systems soul purpose is to fuck over new players, id say to make everyone happy just make a casual chime mode where theres no elo or skulls,

entirely unrelated but, press Y with a medium weapon to switch to 2 handed stance. This gives you more posture damage at the cost of not being able to use an offhand weapon (shields, parrying daggers, guns) so generally its a net positive.
i love grinding 8 or 12 hours to max and making my build perfect untill a voidwalker kills me 1 time or 2 times and sends me to the depths and almost wiping of wiping
It’s very interesting to here opinions about the game from another perspective. I do remember how much nonsense I was given because learning pvp is the worst thing this pvp/pve game is based game. But even if you “become the monk of Deepwoken” and throw yourself in chime endlessly, it takes AGES to improve because of people who already are good at pvp dwell in chime (including endlessly being killed and coming back on the same slot to learn pvp, that is also mind numbing). Most of these issues I would never see because I have become so acquainted with the game that the nonsense I once faced is nothing to me, but a huge issue to people who are at the point where I once stood. Amazing video.
I know this is an older video but I just really wanted to give my experience. I started deepwoken recently with one of my kids who wanted to try it and... I don't think I ever really played a game that was quite so hostile to new players. I love the lore but I feel like this game doesn't want us to be apart of it. I don't actually believe that to be the case but I feels that way. Getting voidwalked on my first, I don't know, 10 wipes is actually how I ended up on your videos. I really needed a guide because I felt like me and the kid were just doing something egregious wrong with our characters.

You dont have 3 attempts a chime a day. After a third loss you are sent to the depths, lose your stuff, and need to waste 10 mins to get back up to the surface and risk wiping due to depths gankers. And the number of depths gankers is way higher due to the game rewarding you with clan points for it. After you get back to the surface, you have one skull. ONE. Wtf??? A smart player will loose twice in a row and just not risk going to the depths, so you only get two matches a day if youre new and have basic intelligence.
i introduced my friend to deepwoken yesterday and TWO voidwalkers jumped us before we even got into a pve encounter and i died saving him, it was a gruesome introduction to the game and luckily we still had fun afterwards but its annoying that my friend barely dipped his toes in the water before having his experience damn near ruined.
If Deepwoken was singleplayer/co-op I think it would be one of my favorite games to play. I really hate how most roblox games NEED some form of PVP to attract players. I just want to play an open world rpg with friends
My idea is to just add a 1 hour grace period after you either die or kill one someone voidwalking you. It will just help everyone, Voidwalkers can still serverhop to find bounty's, Both new players and pro players dont have to constantly deal with them, And voidwalker still get to grip and mug people. You just get a free 1 hour of peace and calm (Maybe) Where you dont have to be on high alert all the time and can just grind peacefully.
The having to nock someone for the void walker quest is a good idea ,but some talents like the dagger talent that makes you autogrip. Might cause someone to still lose a life. That is the only problem I see besides maybe some tp glitches.
Honestly bro I cried at the 9:01 . Idk why but for some reason I didnt get bored from eclipse's 12 minute yapping for the first time. He actually cooked a masterpiece this time.
I feel like for chime they could fix the part where you can not really use it as a reliable source for learning pvp by removing skulls for players that are under 900 or 1000 elo
I played with my boyfriend who is new and he got to power 10 in a couple characters. Its a bit ridiculous now that he, a new player is constantly complaining about them.
You are completely right, Eclipse. I agree with every point in this video. What can we do to fix this problem? I wish there was a way to get people to listen
I agree so much because I a trash horiable player who takes like at least a 3 or more days to make a build keep on getting killed by voidwalkers with experience and instead of learning I log because I am scared to lose progression and I suck at pvp
The worst part about voidwalkers is the fact that 90% of the time they team on you or some other guy that isn’t even a voidwalker is just completely allowed to jump in when both of you are low and you BOTH die
Eclipse idk if ur gonna see this but I think I have some good insight into why deepwoken is the way it is. In regards to the comment at 5:10 , its actually really accurate to say the game has become easier. Ignoring everything they added for the sake of experienced players, exp gain has increased by realistically 10 times how it was when the game came out. For the first few weeks of the game very little people had max levels because the exp curves were just way higher, and alongside this there were also less mechanics which made progression faster. The main shift deepwoken has had is that when the game first came out it was designed and played as a "hardcore rpg", but there was a conflict of interest with the players who enjoyed the more competitive parts of the game, who mostly stemmed from the playerbase of their previous game rogue lineage. Because of this the devs have slowly shifted into deepwoken becoming more of a sandbox openworld pvp game, with the main source of grinding being from dungeons instead of the open world. This has led to the weird divide between pve and pvp players, as the game practically splits content between the two. Things such as chime of conflict, the majority of oaths, and increased build customization are only in the game to make pvp players happy, while the lean towards instanced dungeons such as TO1, layer 2, and diluvian are used to make the pve parts of the game less punishing, allowing newer players to play with less anxiety and experienced players to easily grind towards their builds. Ive played Deepwoken since the minute it came out and ive only seen the divide between casual and competitive players grow wider, but thats also probably a reason why the game is so popular. Its pretty clear that the deepwoken devs have been forced to change parts of their game due to the requests of the different players that flocked to it, and thats why the game has so many counterintuitive features. For example, chime of conflict was given a limit on the amount of times you can play it because they first added it as a fun way to gain progression and items. The devs were very strong on their stance in limiting chime skulls (lives) because they didnt want players to spend all of their time pvping, as one of their regrets in their previous game was adding a safe area to pvp which allowed people to learn new techs and become good at pvp, distracting from the actual overworld part of the game. Despite this, deepwoken players still embraced the competitive pvp aspect, which is the reason why they added an ELO system to chime and later even added a safe area to pvp (guild base arena), the exact thing they said they didnt want previously. The devs noticed that their efforts in discouraging competitive players didnt work, so they caved in halfway rather than just removing chime lives, which is now a feature that doesnt really have a place in the game.
And the fact multiple voidwalkers can accept a single bounty is just rubbing salt in the wound for the freshies, even as a higher level being jumped by voidwalkers that can be 4 levels higher than you just isn't fun
I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment as a new player of the game who has gotten screwed by the voidwalker mechanic several times over and lost my best slots multiple times it’s by far one of if not the most flawed mechanics in the entire game
You know what's the funniest part? Even the classic RPGs, the ones that originated full-loot PvP have dedicated training areas. Just to give you an example, Old School Runescape, the game that has a SIGNIFICANT portion of the map dedicated solely to full-loot PvP with a surprisingly active PvP community with a grind INFINITELY LONGER than Deepwoken has not one, not two, I'd dare say MORE than three ways to learn PvP. Castle Wars, it's a group-based PvP minigame, you take your gear, you fight inside the minigame, you don't lose your gear if you die. Soul Wars, same thing as Castle Wars, different gamemode, different style, still PvP. Last Man Standing, you take control of a character with a set level, with a specific set of gear that is given to you to use in that game that you select, and you fight, other players, in a battle royale mode. And, last but not least the PvP Arena, which works the same way as Last Man Standing except it's 1v1 instead of a battle royale. If a game like OSRS, a technically speaking, almost 30 year old game, a last-century game, can figure out how to teach PvP while at the same time not devaluing full-loot PvP, the Deepwoken devs are just actually a century behind.
@@dominicballinger6536 The full game does need membership, BUT, there's a good few hundred hours of content that you can do completely F2P AND there is a big section of the PvP playerbase that focuses on F2P PvP!
When I started playing Deepwoken I was getting voidwalked like every 30 minutes (if I was lucky enough) and I kept server hopping to not encounter voidwalkers, now if I want to go somewhere in erisia, I got to server hop every minute to prevent from getting voidwalked or if I find a server with a low player count, join it even if its at the farest region from me. For leveling up, I just do islands on the sea because I do not want to go level up at erisia, because ima get voidwalked. They need to rework voidwalker like bruh....
If you have a good rep with the Knives they cannot teleport to you on spawn. So that's how to avoid them just do the ship events and help the pirate looking guys (I'm glad I learned this)
just started deepwoken. love the game and the concept, but the amount of times I've been voidwalker'd in my maybe 20 hours of gameplay is insane and it's definitely discouraging. Knowing experienced players can literally take themselves off the board while my level 12 inexperienced ass has to stay on really sucks, and I would say it's honestly slowed me down from learning the game. I hope they change the system a little bit!
while it still sucks you can "easily" get rid of voidwalkers. there's a sea event where 2 boats (one with red sails and one with white sails) spawn next to eachother, they have knifes of eylies (the voidwalker faction) and some other guys on it if you help the voidwalker faction out by killing the guys that aren't clothed in black then you get higher rep, you have to do it like 4 or 5 times to get neutral rep with knives (which is enough to get off of their bounty board) though watch out, there are other factions that voidwalkers use the bounty boards off, meaning if you have bad rep with those then you can still get voidwalked, when you start your character you only have bad rep with the voidwalker faction the rest that have bounty boards are neutral or higher. if you get good at the event (you still get attacked by the knives of eylis npc's so watch out for that, it's fine to kill a few aslong as you kill more of the other faction) you can very much do it quickly every time you start a character. though still annoying.
@@jeffboy4231 yeah I realized that, it's a bit of an effort to get off every bounty board though. I'm pretty sure other factions' bounties appear on the main voidwalker board, and you have to be friendly with them to not have a bounty. after getting over the hurdle of being new I've realized voidwalkers, as annoying as they are, make the game a bit more interesting because they give permadeath a bit more weight. the only thing I would change is giving new players under a certain amount of playtime immunity from voidwalkers so they can learn the game a bit easier, since it does take time to get the mechanics down and understand what you're supposed to do lol
I really hope eclipse comes in and makes a bunch of these videos about deepwoken and it's issues and hopefully it actuslly affects the game for the better like how he changed the jjba game scene
i was playing today and came across several like FRESH fresh people to the game and most of them logged before i got anywhere near them. i didnt even look crazy they had just been used to getting voidwalked frehs out of the gate so they log even when someone is wanting to help. its deff sad to see
As a player who recently started and got decent at this game I 100% agree with everything you’re saying but I think the skill system from chime should be implemented for voidwalker so if you get knocked by one the, the void pulls you deeper to the depths and you have three lives till eventually you get drowned into the depths plus being knocked is dangerous cus mods or other players can grip you which I think is good to still fairly punish you. Every time you kill a voidwalker I think it should bring 1 skull back and if your at 1 skulls mobs have a chance to be corrupted and appear to you only. Since you basically merged between the depths and over-world and more mod spawns that appear to you only and you have a low chance of squibbo spawning. If you get killed by one of these mobs you get sent straight to the depths but there should be a relic that naturally restores your skulls.
that's a better system than whats currently in the game, but if people get down to 1 skull then they'll continue to just log from voidwalkers. If there is ever any kind of risk then people will just continue to log from voidwalkers. So realistically, I think the only thing they could do is make it so that dying to a voidwalker doesn't come with any consequences at all, no life lost or anything. Although that would drastically take away from the hardcore aspect of the game, its the only way I can see voidwalker not being a complete mess or maybe they can make it so that upon opening the menu to exit the game, you have to wait a certain amount of time (such as 5 seconds) before you can log out. It'll stop people from abusing the exit button to escape any danger they're about to come across, and simply closing the game regularly is not a reliable method because it keeps your character in-game for a few seconds anyway
@@tidess The second method would make the game such a pain though, The problem isn't that players log from voidwalkers, It's "why" they do it, If you single out those who play the game yet have never even gotten the chance to fight a player in equal stance because of how hard it is to do so whilst progressing as a new player.
There''s another issue of Voidwalking, you can get swung on by multiple void-walkers one after another and all at once. If one fails to kill you, another can take that bounty right after to try again. I've genuinely experienced 10 minutes of having to fight 3 different voidwalkers cause I was grinding and was never getting enough time to actually get out of combat and log due to npc's deciding to get in the way and swing on me. And another where there were basically 3 different ones doing a similar thing except I had to essentially fight for my life for what felt like 5 minutes before going down. I'm of the opinion if one person has a voidwalker bounty, ANY OTHER Voidwalker should deal DRASTICALLY less damage to that player. I'm fully talking like 80-90% less dmg.

Its genuinely insane
I just voidwalked a guy and I feel so bad he literally said I know your on your grind and I need to get back to isle anyway bro i felt so bad because i just started using voidwalker and i didnt know you could attack lower level players
this is one of my biggest gripes to the game. If you wanna learn it, you're punished. The game encourages you to play as safely and risk-free as physically possible. As deviation and experimentation are punished with a hard reset and your time wasted. It's why all my solo playtime is just spent walking circles in lower Erisia Also, another idea for the void walkers. Since they are just Darksouls invaders. Commit to it. when a void walker attacks, there's an anti voidwalker faction. If a player has this faction, which Ill dub "Voidpurgers" they are automatically warped to the Voidwalker's target. given an etherial look as the purger abandons their body temporarily to assist. If the purger dies, nothing happens to them. maybe a little punishment for their faction. But gets sent back to where they were, but no deaths. but if the voidealker dies, they get rewarded. and if there arent any players available, the game will just offer the player a voidpurger AI. adding an edit for clarity: When the purger chooses the origin. It works exactly like voidwalkers. But inverted. And they have to talk to a thing to say, "I wish to be summoned. This is the build type I'll be using. " which, for simplicity sake, will, by default, inheret your mantras. Let you pre select mantras for each "summon level" (Basically placing the mantras you'd get as if you were leveling up with garentee mantras) and what weapon you'd get. With pre selected traits for each weapon type, and so on. And when a voidwalker attacks, they are immediately sent to them as a specter. Whether they win or lose, they aren't punished. as we want to ENCOURAGE them to do their job. If they lose, nothing. if they win. EXP and loot. But they are then placed back right where they were before being summoned. continuing gameplay as before.
If you wanna give the Purgers some sort of restriction. when theyre summoned, they can only use a specific loadout. Chosen before they are even summonable. such as a weapon type, what mantra's they'd get. And so on. Possibly even purger specific mantras and so on. Which this build will scale and improve depending on how strong the Voidwalker's target is.
@WeDeserveWorldPeace It's arguably more punishing for the hunted player, as 9/10 the voidwalker has 100s of hours with pvp alone. while the player is a freshie who dosent even know they exist. Since they seem to refuse to apply the simple "voidwalkers just have to knock the players" I thought: Since voidwalkers are just darksouls invaders. why not add the anti invider? Its unfair as is, if the player is a voidwalker. theyve already accepted what theyre getting into. Plus, they can have the same apply to the voidwalker. once the voidwalker is downed, they get sent back mostly unharmed. Nobody is punished with a hard wipe. Everygone gets to engage in PVP
The biggest problem im seeing here is the fact that when you become experienced at the game, it just doesnt change. Progressing just becomes a chore because you will inevitably, the longer you play, get to a point where you know every mobs pattern and you know exactly how or where to get the most exp, and the progression just becomes a tedious task. I know a lot of people who dont even really consider the progression gameplay, they only consider what you do as a max level gameplay which is just pvp or farming pve with a max damage pve build. And its because of the way most of the experienced players view the game that they will complain when things about the progression change or become "easier"
it's just a general gaming dev tip to NOT listen to your players which have like 500+ hours in your game lol they have MAJOR skewed vision of your games.
@@AugustasDW is for me atleast. Feels like every time I try to play I get attacked by MUCH more experienced players than me, leaving me no time to actually get better at the game.
BTW many have probably already commented this, but you regain chime of conflict lives each win, but I still do agree with your point where a new player will never play chime mainly because they'll probably instantly lose 3 lives in a row. I myself have a lot of hours on the game, so a voidwalker attacking me can be fun. But a lot of my friends who are newer players usually can't play the game normally because of this. Losing your life and being sent all the way to spawn (or the depths) is too impactful on newer players, and they will be the ones which this happens to the most. And also the skill floor for defeating voidwalking is always on a rise, as players learn how to pvp, so each passing day it becomes harder and harder to get into the game without having the setback of constantly losing lives and being sent to spawn, having to sail all the way back to the island you were farming on.

I agree with your solution 100% (I forgot to say this in the last video regarding this), but one thing I would like to say that is a flaw, is that if you spawn in the Voidheart, you're out in the open, so anybody in the Voidheart around the original spawn would easily snatch that chest that spawned with you. I'm thinking they should add a "chest room" of sorts; sort of isolated off from the rest of the Voidheart, away from the normal spawn location. You'd spawn in this room instead, along with your chest after you claimed a bounty. Just thought I'd throw that out there, but thank you for making another video on this! (I fucking hate Voidwalkers)
The problem is dispairity between new players and old players, old players say its too easy now because they have a hard time remembering when the game was hard FOR THEM. the game didnt get easier, they put time into it and now everything's easy for them, while it got more bearable to play for new people.
no it undoubtedly got easier, they watered down every portion of the game to the point where the hardest thing to do now is decide on a build that you like
@@ssnoq so I’m guessing you’re a 800-2K hour player, that has never gotten another perspective on the game. Hell just watch eclipses first video on the game. You just think it’s easy because all that time you’ve put in learning the monsters, learning PVP, learning PVE, learning where everything is/was… there has been nothing that got “watered down” outside of tedious shit that shouldn’t have been that tedious in the first place…
@@TTTRUSTY they made progression 10x easier but, like you get tons of xp more base xp gain is even larger than it was with mark of the lone warrior maverick and adept back then when power 60 was a thing i mean its good that its faster to grind now but there was a good climate to grinding for an hour for 5 powers
No they undoubtedly made it easier, 10x the exp, like 5x the enchant rates, added more ways to level up quicker, made oaths easier to get, and so many more things
Yeah honestly monad has this weird idea that something annoying is the same as hardcore. Like they always add things that are just massive inconveniences and then after realizing that the thing is stupid they will add fixes in bits and pieces until we get to what should have already existed from the get go.
I agree with that change, but i would add the fact that the player instantly get in combat when a voidwalker TPS on him, the player would know that there's a voidwalker chasing him, and also the player would not quit the game.
At some point in the game there was an unblockable, undodgeable, unparriable mantra that could one shot you (Flaming Scourge). The devs knew that it could do that before it was released. They did nothing about it. Good luck with making them fix anything lol.
I think its better with voidwalkers, noobs should be thrown into the cold water to learn how to fight. It pushes the Player to fight even if he does not want to and that helps him get better too.
THIS IS THE REASON CHIME OF CONFLICT HAS THE 3 SKULL SYSTEM. before deepwoken came out, the owner ragoozer said something about the game like "i dont wanna add anything like private servers, they wont be in the game" referring to how private servers were added to his previous game rogue lineage. in that game, private servers just became a hangout for people who progressed fully and were too scared of wiping. in rogue lineage, u would progress to max, and then just hang out and 1v1 in safe private servers, never going back to the actual game. ragoozer said he wouldnt add private servers to deepwoken, because it would distract from the overworld, BUT HE LIED. he added chime of conflict, aka the ranked mode, aka private servers 2.0... how is this different to private servers? there is no fear of wiping and it is where the max level players 1v1 just like in rogue lineage. oh but ragoozer had a genius idea! he would make it so losing 3 times in a row SENDS U TO THE DEPTHS! now there WAS a fear of wiping in the private server! now chime of conflict will NOT attract players away from the overworld! nope, the thing he didn't want to happen happened anyway. he just made chime of conflict worse :(
@@VenimurTheGoober An unfortunate truth is that if that fun is detracting from the game's health, then it's still a problem. Normally I hate getting jumped by random people in overworld and losing a life (worse on vow of thorns slots for faster prog), but the overworld has felt so dead ever since chime was added. I took a year break from Deep, returned, and noticed overworld was still just as dead.

Little Timmy doesn't want to lose 7 painful hours of farming lower erisia until power 9. Little Timmy logs when he sees a voidwalker (That has a bell, legendary weapon, and fully enchanted HP kit for some reason)
The problem Is that voidwalkers make deepwoken extra difficult , so its harder to get better at the game (PvP and pve) when a guy with 500 hours in the game jump a guy Who dont even wanted to PvP and just want to play normally (PvP IS not a normal way to play deepwoken, sorry, but in concept, It is a pve game) the only way to PvP should be chime of conflict, its better way because you can choose when to PvP and its a more fair way to pvp
7:23 This solution would be even more flawed than what currently is, first off it doesn't make sense lore wise for voidwalkers to not kill their target, and mainly this would just lead to not fighting at all, people would be like "hey knock me rq" then you just get bounty for free, people would still find a way to grip people anyway with fire or somethin, very useless addition and waste of immersive gameplay if such thing was really added. For the logging issue a throwable ctag item is all that is needed ( just like peeble in rogue)
I'd argue that his solution is still fine. With proper testing or tweaking over time, it could be made so that issues like flame autogrips wouldn't matter. And while it might not make sense lore-wise, the devs have shown how the lore doesn't really matter much for the game's mechanics. Not only does the specific lore change based off of who you ask, but it's not even very accessible in-game! That alone tells you how much Arch, Ragoozer, and all them care about tying the lore to gameplay. Besides, if being true to the lore means the gameplay has to suffer, I'd rather have no lore to begin with. I won't defend the merits of voidwalking as it is currently solely based off of some super flexible story that the devs don't put much effort into at all sometimes.
Ok ngl, I’ve been thinking about this for a while and it’s one of THE reasons I don’t play deepwoken as much as I want to. It’s one thing to make perma-death apply to the most dangerous enemies in the game (other players). It’s another thing to make it essentially inevitable that you will get into a fight with another player based off just being in a populated server long enough. It’s quite literally feels like forced pvp just based off how often it happens unless you log. And that’s if you hear the void walker noise in the first place. I WANT to be able to pvp in this game but, sadly, I can’t seem to find any way of doing that without wiping. There’s other deepwoken playground games and it’s sad people have to even bother making other games for people to be able to practice what is essentially is a forced mechanic and hardlocks your ability to have fun. The pvp mode being limited is one of the most boneheaded pieces of game design I’ve ever seen
Chime was added a while, and THEN i see that skulls did make sense. Everyone was bad and the game was hardcore, devs didnt want repeat the problem from their previous, where people got unbelievably good in a risk free private servers, but now in deep average pvp enjoyer is miles above the new player, and skulls just serve as a hindrance to them and a major.frustration to good players
5:38 This is EVEN MORE prevalent on deepwoken than many other games that could be easy if you play a lot because that experience usually results in you developing muscle memory, so you're actually able to consistently parry all the mobs and such. And these people also (5:53) NEVER do that, especially since it's the internet.

Two options : -deleting voidwalker( the easy way and wich can make deepwoken losses and gain players equally) -make voidwalker better in this ways: make easier to spawn, advise people that a voidwakers will spawn (mor than just a simple sound), make voidwalkers unable to fight in the voideye, make a bounty matchmaking and give the bounty chest to the voidwalker just by knocking out the player, not gripping. This is the way to solve all voidwalkers problems, to the voidwlakers themselves and for the common pve players who dont like to get gripped by a guy with 999 hours played
Thanks for telling him the basic controls he already learned and used to beat layer 2, thanks for telling him the basis of a game he already beat, you must be one smart cookie
3:50 this can tie into the "almost requiring an expirenced friend" issue, the only real way to truely learn to pvp is either through trial and error or getting help from friends.
Voidwalkers are 2/3 septic tanks, the other 1/3 is acceptably decent. Jumping some guy while he is Half health is NOT dificult in the slightest. If you think voidwalking is hard you need to get checked.
5:53 this is a stupid point , i started deepwoken when there was literally no tutorial a week after release with no help from youtube and now i can do anything in the game , the game is far too easy right now and i do agree that people that are just cowards that'll run away at every sight of danger WILL QUIT because to really get good at deepwoken you need willpower you need to put in the work and die over and over and over again to learn how each mob is , you can't expect the game to teach you these things because it would ultimately make trivialise the whole game and make it so even a new player can catch up to the level of a experienced player in a few days

On my opinion, deepwoken have the servers system like ''Combat Warriors''. If you are low level (On this case, how much hours you played) you will spawn in a BEGINNER server, but IF you want, you can go to normal server (any playtime).
I think the simplest solution to make voidwalking less annoying for voidwalkers and less incentive for players to log is to add player combat danger upon voidwalking. It not only gives the player a warning, it also makes it so they cant log instantly, although they can still run away it does provide a fix to the main problem.
a big think about void walker is that people use it for ganking once they build is finished so teleporting you away instantly would ruin that whole aspect of it, and nobody does voidwalker for the chests mainly for xp while progging and being able to get places fast
I agree so much with this as as mostly PVE player whenever me and my friend's would play a voidwalker would show up and we'd either leave the game or try to fight back to improve at pvp cus they hit us before we could log and we'd get stomped and we wouldn't improve at all, It has been a couple months since I last played and voidwalkers were as big reason having to leave the game every 10 minutes to avoid getting on the board or even if I do leave I might still be on there rejoin and less than 5 minutes in im getting jumped in the middle of hive, If they had a knockout or health drain or weakening system or anything else other than gripping even taking items or money would be so much better as the risks would be significantly lower and I'd be more inclined to actually fight them to try to learn.
Gotta agree with this, as an experienced player whenever I make a build I just immediately get it off the grid by rep-farming all the factions, when I was newer I would get void walked on up to 8 times an hour before figuring out the chees method which honestly infuriated me to a point where I genuinely considered dropping the game as a whole, sadly not everybody is as stubborn as me which leads to a lot of new player quitting for good
my personal rework idea: Hunt with Ferocity: voidwalking a player combat tags them and places a giant bubble over their location which prevents them from running (jjk veil style), other players can not see the bubble but can see particles on the player being voidwalked. The target will be given a notification telling them that they are being hunted and must defeat the voidwalker to be free'd from the "voidbubble" or "void veil" or "void rift" (cant think of a name), or they can flee and tire the voidwalkers ability to project themselves here. The voidwalker has a time limit which decreases over time but increases by parrying their target and landing hits on the target, if the timer runs out they are teleported back to the voidheart. If the player wins the bubble shatters and they are given an elden ring type "VOIDWALKER SLAIN" alongside a chest and the voidwalkers loot. If the player escapes and the voidwalker runs out of time the player gets "THE VOID FLEES FOR NOW" and the bubble fades away, the voidwalker vanishing with no reward other than survival. If the voidwalker wins the player dies (with no death penalty other than dropping loot and going back to spawn), if it's their first time being voidwalked then they wake up in their origin's respective inn and are greeted by the tutorial npc that says they found them defeated by a voidwalker and gives a guide on voidwalkers for the new players as well as some flavour text and lore. Hunt with Stealth: The voidwalker is forced to actively sneak up on the player with no time limit, the player isn't given any info they are being stalked. The voidwalker gains the ability to track the players footprints or inspect areas with chests/completed events with markers on them hinting that the player finished them with some kind of cue on recency, if the voidwalker catches up to the player they can sneak up and hit them automatically doing a stealth attack, placing the bubble and giving the voidwalker the ability to see the player through walls, this starts the fight with the voidwalker at an advantage. The player however can counteract this beforehand, if they hit the voidwalker first the voidwalker dissipates and is teleported back to the voidheart. If the player stares at the voidwalker for long enough then they vanish and are forced to teleport away. If the player leaves the game at any time whilst being stalked then the hunt is off. To make it more obvious that you are being stalked, the voidwalker in stealth is given a shadowy look with bright eyes for the players pov to get their attention on the threat.
In the system of just knocking people instead of killing, what about after your first bounty, a npc comes up to you in the voidheart and asks you if you're unsatisfied with the loot, you can just mug them, and you unlock the mugging card that way you can still get good loot since they wont be dropping loot bags. The mugging card would be a voidwalker exclusive and could have more cards that buff it somehow. I also think mugging should be only be able to be done once on a body, and just make it so you take more loot instead of one item

Who knew that having an origin that kills people to progress in a PERMADEATH game would be flawed. It's not like the devs saw what Dark Souls has and decided to put that in their game without realizing why Dark Souls has said system.
Tl;dr: The Deepwoken devs copied the invader system in Dark Souls without realizing what made it good in the first place.

My idea is to just add a 1 hour grace period after you either die or kill one someone voidwalking you.
Anyway what faction is putting a bounty on jimmy the power 7 who autogripped one authority soldier on accident with his fire blade?
And the fact multiple voidwalkers can accept a single bounty is just rubbing salt in the wound for the freshies, even as a higher level being jumped by voidwalkers that can be 4 levels higher than you just isn't fun
it's just the worst idea. in a game where there is only 20 levels means that 4 level difference is HUGE
If a game like OSRS, a technically speaking, almost 30 year old game, a last-century game, can figure out how to teach PvP while at the same time not devaluing full-loot PvP, the Deepwoken devs are just actually a century behind.
spit yo shit indeed, the devs need to see this comment

I did that aswell when I started but now I am one of the voidwalkers cause normal progression is just too boring
If you have a good rep with the Knives they cannot teleport to you on spawn. So that's how to avoid them just do the ship events and help the pirate looking guys (I'm glad I learned this)
Thx now im going to start hunting players at midnight ❤
just started deepwoken. love the game and the concept, but the amount of times I've been voidwalker'd in my maybe 20 hours of gameplay is insane and it's definitely discouraging. Knowing experienced players can literally take themselves off the board while my level 12 inexperienced ass has to stay on really sucks, and I would say it's honestly slowed me down from learning the game. I hope they change the system a little bit!
while it still sucks you can "easily" get rid of voidwalkers.
there's a sea event where 2 boats (one with red sails and one with white sails) spawn next to eachother, they have knifes of eylies (the voidwalker faction) and some other guys on it
if you help the voidwalker faction out by killing the guys that aren't clothed in black then you get higher rep, you have to do it like 4 or 5 times to get neutral rep with knives (which is enough to get off of their bounty board) though watch out, there are other factions that voidwalkers use the bounty boards off, meaning if you have bad rep with those then you can still get voidwalked, when you start your character you only have bad rep with the voidwalker faction the rest that have bounty boards are neutral or higher.
if you get good at the event (you still get attacked by the knives of eylis npc's so watch out for that, it's fine to kill a few aslong as you kill more of the other faction) you can very much do it quickly every time you start a character. though still annoying.
If you get killed by one of these mobs you get sent straight to the depths but there should be a relic that naturally restores your skulls.
quit yapping lil bro, We agree with you.
nah the mob thing although cool would be too difficult to implement
that's a better system than whats currently in the game, but if people get down to 1 skull then they'll continue to just log from voidwalkers. If there is ever any kind of risk then people will just continue to log from voidwalkers. So realistically, I think the only thing they could do is make it so that dying to a voidwalker doesn't come with any consequences at all, no life lost or anything. Although that would drastically take away from the hardcore aspect of the game, its the only way I can see voidwalker not being a complete mess
or maybe they can make it so that upon opening the menu to exit the game, you have to wait a certain amount of time (such as 5 seconds) before you can log out.

If you wanna learn it, you're punished.
The game encourages you to play as safely and risk-free as physically possible. As deviation and experimentation are punished with a hard reset and your time wasted.
It's why all my solo playtime is just spent walking circles in lower Erisia
Also, another idea for the void walkers. Since they are just Darksouls invaders. Commit to it.
when a void walker attacks, there's an anti voidwalker faction. If a player has this faction, which Ill dub "Voidpurgers"
they are automatically warped to the Voidwalker's target. given an etherial look as the purger abandons their body temporarily to assist. If the purger dies, nothing happens to them. maybe a little punishment for their faction. But gets sent back to where they were, but no deaths.
but if the voidealker dies, they get rewarded. and if there arent any players available, the game will just offer the player a voidpurger AI.
adding an edit for clarity:
When the purger chooses the origin. It works exactly like voidwalkers. But inverted. And they have to talk to a thing to say, "I wish to be summoned. This is the build type I'll be using. "
which, for simplicity sake, will, by default, inheret your mantras. Let you pre select mantras for each "summon level"
(Basically placing the mantras you'd get as if you were leveling up with garentee mantras)
and what weapon you'd get.
Would love that ngl, but I feel like the Voidwalker shouldn't be punished all that much since it's a 2v1 every time.
@WeDeserveWorldPeace It's arguably more punishing for the hunted player, as 9/10 the voidwalker has 100s of hours with pvp alone. while the player is a freshie who dosent even know they exist.
Since they seem to refuse to apply the simple "voidwalkers just have to knock the players"
I thought: Since voidwalkers are just darksouls invaders. why not add the anti invider?
And its because of the way most of the experienced players view the game that they will complain when things about the progression change or become "easier"
it's just a general gaming dev tip to NOT listen to your players which have like 500+ hours in your game lol
they have MAJOR skewed vision of your games.

THIS IS THE REASON CHIME OF CONFLICT HAS THE 3 SKULL SYSTEM. before deepwoken came out, the owner ragoozer said something about the game like "i dont wanna add anything like private servers, they wont be in the game" referring to how private servers were added to his previous game rogue lineage. in that game, private servers just became a hangout for people who progressed fully and were too scared of wiping. in rogue lineage, u would progress to max, and then just hang out and 1v1 in safe private servers, never going back to the actual game. ragoozer said he wouldnt add private servers to deepwoken, because it would distract from the overworld, BUT HE LIED. he added chime of conflict, aka the ranked mode, aka private servers 2.0... how is this different to private servers? there is no fear of wiping and it is where the max level players 1v1 just like in rogue lineage. oh but ragoozer had a genius idea! he would make it so losing 3 times in a row SENDS U TO THE DEPTHS! now there WAS a fear of wiping in the private server! now chime of conflict will NOT attract players away from the overworld! nope, the thing he didn't want to happen happened anyway. he just made chime of conflict worse :(
Chime of conflict was and still is the worst addition to the game.
@@swavii4337 FR

Yk what games are made for? Probably not, so I'll explain. Games are made to be fun.
Hi, new player speaking. I died over 15 times to voidwalkers because im new and i can't do anything about it, because i have no one to protect me or like you said in the video i can't fight back. And i am sad to say i purchased this game just to be angry and hopeless.

Yeah, they really shouldn't take anything from you, it just gets in the way of progression. It's fine for the voidwalker to be rewarded, but the victim shouldn't be punished.

I lost enough slots to the point that i did a entire build just to spite them because most of the time i dont even have a fighting chance to begin with

Devs need to stop listening to players that spend their whole life on the game
Listening to people who are 1-250 ranks in games as a developer of said games is always a horrible idea
that's just a general game developer tip lol
literally this, good players are supposed to adapt to the game, not bend the game to their whims
you people do not understand anything of what you're saying
@@Omegalodaunt what's your username?
Chime was added a while, and THEN i see that skulls did make sense. Everyone was bad and the game was hardcore, devs didnt want repeat the problem from their previous, where people got unbelievably good in a risk free private servers, but now in deep average pvp enjoyer is miles above the new player, and skulls just serve as a hindrance to them and a major.frustration to good players

Me who forgot voidwalkers even exist (I play deepbound)
5:38 This is EVEN MORE prevalent on deepwoken than many other games that could be easy if you play a lot because that experience usually results in you developing muscle memory, so you're actually able to consistently parry all the mobs and such. And these people also (5:53) NEVER do that, especially since it's the internet.

Two options :
-deleting voidwalker( the easy way and wich can make deepwoken losses and gain players equally)
-make voidwalker better in this ways: make easier to spawn, advise people that a voidwakers will spawn (mor than just a simple sound), make voidwalkers unable to fight in the voideye, make a bounty matchmaking and give the bounty chest to the voidwalker just by knocking out the player, not gripping.
This is the way to solve all voidwalkers problems, to the voidwlakers themselves and for the common pve players who dont like to get gripped by a guy with 999 hours played

I personally dont mind voidwalkers but your wording is really immature
Deepwoken players will look at blatent poor game design and say its a feature 😭
5:53 this is a stupid point , i started deepwoken when there was literally no tutorial a week after release with no help from youtube and now i can do anything in the game , the game is far too easy right now and i do agree that people that are just cowards that'll run away at every sight of danger WILL QUIT because to really get good at deepwoken you need willpower you need to put in the work and die over and over and over again to learn how each mob is , you can't expect the game to teach you these things because it would ultimately make trivialise the whole game and make it so even a new player can catch up to the level of a experienced player in a few days

Btw if you could make a video about "a stereotypical obby", id love to watch you play it, i know its not your typical game but I think its still really cool
Ngl, it just brings the people who kill for fun closer to voidwalker and deters most new players from the game
Gotta agree with this, as an experienced player whenever I make a build I just immediately get it off the grid by rep-farming all the factions, when I was newer I would get void walked on up to 8 times an hour before figuring out the chees method which honestly infuriated me to a point where I genuinely considered dropping the game as a whole, sadly not everybody is as stubborn as me which leads to a lot of new player quitting for good
my personal rework idea:
Hunt with Ferocity: voidwalking a player combat tags them and places a giant bubble over their location which prevents them from running (jjk veil style), other players can not see the bubble but can see particles on the player being voidwalked.
I also think mugging should be only be able to be done once on a body, and just make it so you take more loot instead of one item
i only play deepwoken at around 1 AM in my timezone, that way, every single server has 3 players at most, and i can enjoy the game with my pve build without having to worry about getting jumpscared by voidwalkers
