    As a Deepwoken content creator, I agree with a lot of what you're saying for missing small details, exploration being secondary, and progression being impossible for new players. That type of weakness in Deepwoken is hard to ignore and I instead found myself mostly excited about the build diversity and capability open to all players. The range of ability you can have with different characters and builds is vast compared to most games in general, but getting to that point through progression is a difficult thing they could probably improve upon for the inexperienced player.

    Im so glad that someone outside of the deepwoken community is looking in on deepwoken, and actually had an opportunity to talk with the devs because right now the deepwoken community is a massive echo chamber, so ideas like escaping the depths needing to be reworked never gets addressed. I have played deepwoken since its release and i have never rung one of the bells for opening the gates, or seen where they are, because its just easier, safer, and faster to climb the walls. at the same time its hard to complain about voidwalkers in the community because everyone's answer for dealing with voidwalkers is to just "git gud".

    As someone who has played since release, the mystery was very prevalent and fun in the first months of game. You'd go to a new island you'd never seen before, and go about it like a stealth mission and be scared of like 10 new monsters. You'd see somebody had a magical weapon they just stumbled upon and was showing to everyone. People found murmurs and oaths and bells and kept them secret and were sort of elite. Plus, you had multiple guilds dedicated to secrethunting and then keeping those secrets! It was a ton of fun, and we've had a few updates that sort of brought that back, but that aspect was certainly what allured me to the game.

      That was a good time of the game but it inevitably goes away and it's kind of pointless to want it back because (as eclipse said in his main deepwoken video) when a secret has existed for a long time it just becomes gatekeeping where some players have benefits that others don't,wich i too find kind of cool but when you look at an objective perspective focusing on mainly gameplay it's kind of stupid.

    eclipse as a deepwoken player it seems to me like the devs are actually taking your input seriously, and that is a great thing. it would be amazing if you were to make a video about the voidwalker problem, it has been plaguing this game for such a long time and it really needs to be addressed at some point

    Thank you. I have been a semi long player of deepwoken and I'm not a very good teacher, so I end up making my friends even more confused and throwing random information toward them mid combat isn't very good for a new player. But essentially making trial of one easy to access for new players is a godsend and makes it much easier.

    The "forge of sin" quest is a simple quest from an important npc you get after fulfilling requirements which has you enter a dungeon server to fight some minions and a boss which has great benefits and I feel quest like this fit well with the game and has fun lore

    These are all really good suggestions if I'm being honest, new players are always fun to run in to in-game and I always try to teach them something or give them an item of some sort, that being said the end-game content is also really dry and experienced players currently have nothing to do except progress new builds with oaths and attunements and weapons they've already used before over and over, none of the current bosses are challenging once you've beaten them once or twice.

    Something to fix things is easily the spawn area NPC, he should explain certain things to you when you die, like what a voidwalker is, or warning you “if you lose a fight here I’m afraid you’ll likely be Depthsent, like the lot of your crew”

    I think something along the lines of the guiding light from elden ring would make it easier for newer player to traverse from island to island or not miss important details. Seeing as there are a couple of aspects taken from the soul series and sekiro they could probably implement this "guiding light" as well but with their own twist to it. There wouldn't need to be a written quest for it. The light could also lead to a small note/carving on the walls left by the devs that could give more insight on the island history or purpose. Just and idea. It's up to them how they interpret it of implement it.

    one of the most fun part of the game is finding info on the game and sharing it with others. theres a whole discord dedicated to niche info in the game including lore, tech, bugs, and about everything else in the game. in the past when verse 2 released, there was an oath that nobody knew about until one person found it. he didnt share the method to get it but the oath being in the game caused a ton of players to talk to other npcs and do specific things to find the oath. the hunt for it was fun and i hope more content in the future is like it. it sucks that new players have to learn most things from the wiki instead of word of mouth but the experience of looking and finding new content that has no info on it is very fun.

    As somebody that is very passionate about this game (despite not playing it much anymore) seeing somebody from outside the community with actual brains talk about this game in a critical manner like this is extremely refreshing. I agree with basically every point you made in this video
    The point you made about the games obscure content and design is especially interesting because the game originally when it came out was even more so obscure than it is now. The tutorial didn’t even exist, nor did trial of one, and the order you were supposed to do islands in was even more confusing. Monad Studios has a history of games where the experience is basically locked behind knowledge and the wiki, mostly just Rogue Lineage. Post launch of Deepwoken they seemed to have attempted to remedy this with trial of one and the tutorial (both very needed additions) but the game is still left in this weird middle ground of lack of information, and attempting to give the player information.
    While I (personally) love wiki warrior games with obscure systems, I know that isn’t for everyone and I’m all for changes to improve Deepwokens experience. Thanks if you actually took the time to read my comment, and I’d love to see more content from you on the game
    (Also if you could make that voidwalker video that would be great, maybe the devs would finally listen and something would get done about them)

    Oh boy I cannot wait for that a voidwalker video. There’s also the issue of the fact the Dephts trial should take place in a separate instance, instead of the same server, because that just opened up the opportunity for lag to kill you. Meanwhile, if the depths trial was in its own separate instance, like the Duke fight it would be so much less frustrating to go through

    When I started deepwoken I went to lower Erisia as power 1. A Sharko obliterated me. Then a voidwalker came and killed me, back then I didnt know it was a voidwalker. Then I went to the depths and a group of people jumped me, I suppose contractors. I quit and never played the game again for about a month.

    just an idea if anyone wants to put it in suggestions
    A guide book that all castaway origin players spawn in with. It’s kinda like the journal suggestion from Redcappedshroom/thattoddlimey, but instead parts of the book are filled in as a sort of basic guide to new players. The other sections are all washed out and faint, since the player has been in a shipwreck (first guy at the inn you talk to could just say “we also found this on you”). The destroyed sections are where the player “writes on top”, basically the game fills in info as you encounter.
    It’s mainly just for new players since they need a starting point as I feel like the beginning tutorial isn’t often enough (but i mean dumping more info that they likely wont use for a while is a bit too much for a hardcore game like deepwoken) so the book is a kind of a way to keep that sense of mystery and exploration without relying on guides.
    The text could be written from the perspective of a traveller, maybe vague directions to etris (like “a port-side turn from the statue” (from etris) or smth with the sun’s direction) and recounting his experiences on this “strange land”. Probably should hint at areas like the sharko cave or temple of forgotten flame in the faint text, like some encounter with an “unknown beast”. There’s just so a lot more content that new players likely dont know without guides, it’s good to tease how much, and the map design on etris kinda hides them too.
    TLDR it basically turns deepwoken into a mystery so players know where to search to get the next bit of info. It’s kinda meant to inspire that same sense of awe and exploration of deepwoken day 1 but on a more individual scale without guides.

    Regarding the word of mouth thing, while I agree for some things should be less gatekept, like trial of one, word of mouth is still important, as it is often not feasible to use the wiki, especially when you don't even know what to look up. You yourself said that in your review video, that even after using the wiki ya'll still got mauled, and only after being with ppl who knew stuff were you able to advance more(though admittedly this may not be a good thing), in general learning the ins and outs can't be done well just though the wiki for a lot of stuff.

    i highly agree with your take on question 3, the fact you cant even see how much damage mantras do is actually so tedious, to check mantra damage and compare it to non upgraded/before and after talents etc, you have to get a friend and do some maths for like 10 minutes every single time, it frustrates the hell out of me.

    I feel like Voidwalkers would be fine if there was another group that opposed them and specialised in saving bounties from getting gripped. It would be a nice contrast and allow people to choose whether they want to be good or bad, and allow for more interations.

      wow so now im getting dumpstered as a ne wplayer trying to progress then some white knight shows up picks me up and will probably carry me to some far away place to get his reward. this just seems like its doubling down on wanting to keep this obviously problematic feature by making it more frustrating to play. literally just remove voidwalkers and find some other way to make pvp more accessible to BOTH new and seasoned playerd bc it just gatekeeps new players from trying to play the game rn.

    watching eclipse talking about deepwoken feels almost surreal, i wasn't watching many videos cuz you never played games that I played, even though i always found your content stupidly entertaining, i'm hoping for more deepwoken videos maybe, if you end up truly enjoying the game :)

    Looking things up on the internet or asking people really isn’t a problem. I like that the game doesn’t feed you everything, it just doesn’t feel like the atmosphere and variety options are all that open world. It would feel more like a simulator where you can just follow a simple quest line where everything is somehow shown to you. It also wouldn’t work for deepwoken because theres so much variety and little things that I cant even imagine how youre supposed to implement ways to tell about all of these attunements, oaths, weapons, bosses, bells, enchants, etc through ingame. It would just ruin the open world aspect, at that point you would HAVE TO be following some kind of main quest storyline that everybody has to go through. It’s like this with games like YBA and Arcane Odyssey, and it ends up ruining the open world mmo rpg aspect of it, it just feels so stale no matter how you try to just “present” these options without imposing them. I like deepwoken because you can do everything how you want to do it, progress and make your build how you want to with almost no influence. If you want to learn something, you can ask in the discord or wiki pages, I find that more immersive in finding things out rather than just being shown all the options and the game telling you to pick. Like even the lone warrior origin which a lot of people prefer, it’s not forced. Some people like the deepbound or voidwalker origins better.

      Imo, arcane does the open world better. You have a main goal, which is continuing the questline but you can still go around the world at any time. In deepwoken you have no goal and just the open world. Minimal Handholding =/= A Simulator. If a game tells you nothing its not a very thought out game, if a game tells you your main objective its a well thought out game, if a game forces you to a specific path its a bad game. AO doesnt force you, idek why you mentioned YBA, its not an open world game. Also you talk about immersion but then say stuff like: "loading up a wiki is good" If you think needing to load up a wiki to get the MAIN objective of the game is good open world game design.. man idk what to tell you

    Something that might be good to add would be some type of guide in-game, like an entity encyclopedia where you can read about things such as mantras, progression etc.
    basically an in-game wiki lmao
    Things could be in there such as:
    Controls
    Progression tutorial (in a text format, duh)
    Explaining mantras
    etc.

      While Rogue Lineage is definitely a lower quality game compared to Deepwoken (even though I prefer it, mainly due to the starter player experience)
      One thing about Rogue Lineage is that its a much smaller game than Deepwoken and doesn't suffer from this problem nearly as much, it still absolutely has the problem though, but just not as badly.
      Rogue Lineage has many other different problems though, such as balancing like the fact that Illusionist observe and the entire Shinobi class was allowed to exist.
      Both games have their ups and downs, I don't like playing Deepwoken even after giving it multiple chances, but I do agree that its the most well-made game on Roblox right now.
      I just wish it wasn't a Roblox game, the engine really drags the game down a lot.

    About the third question. I've been playing Deepwoken since release and at the beginning, when everything was a mystery, it was amazing. I was finding new things every corner. The best time was when people first time started finding out bells. I remember seeing a video on discord of someone using a kamui bell and I was wondering "What the hell is that? Is that a modspec? Is that fanmade?" I took more than 2 weeks to realize what the bells are, and then people were wondering how to get them for quite a long time

    As someone who has played since release (and was a rogue player before that God rest it's soul). I can see some of the qualms you have with the game but some of those (at least for me) a lot of people see as a pro. For example in rogue, knowing how to get ANYWHERE is 10x worse than deepwoken and pretty much required a wiki. People enjoy this, people enjoy learning how to play the game slowly. Even as someone who has played since release, i still use the wiki a lot and there is stuff i still havent discovered just because no one mentioned it to me. I personally think this is a great addition and something you only find in monad games or monad style games. The main quest part of the game is something that most deepwoken players wanted on release. That is what rogue players thought deepwoken would have on release. This was one of the most disappointing parts about deepwoken on release as we felt it was false advertised. The lore is flushed out and could really be supported by a main quest where you play through based on your origin. (For Example as a castaway you slowly learn the secrets of who lord regent really is and in the end fight him). This is a double edged sword though, i like the idea of some newbie trying out the game and making their way to void sea and getting ambushed by kaido (dread serpent). The game is meant to be hard, and it isn't really meant to be like other games. This is something seen in all monad games even arch mage's personal game tales from the valley. Also arch mage, the person you were dming, is not a content dev rather a backend dev working on systems and balancing. A good person to talk to instead would have been ragoozer as he is the person who has the directive control over the game (arch mage obviously has some too) but in the end ragoozer is the owner. This is kinda a ramble so
    TLDR; Wikiwoken (i think) is a good thing. Main quest missing is something sad, game meant to be hard, try pressing f.

    it's a small thing, but imo they should change what your "default" spawn is. atm most people will go to etris even though it's the very obviously worse option. isle of vigils is just a better islands for beginners (and in general) because of the trainig guy you can fight without worry of dying, and also the smith having cloth near him to buy so you can more easily get your first armor.

    Im really glad someone like you is covering this game, because for big changes to happen to the overall health of the game, people need to step out of the echo chamber and see the game from an objective angle.
    Unfortunately a lot of deepwoken content creators are inside of this echo chamber and while they do criticize the game , it’s pretty clear that they are mostly “Yes-Men” to the developers, being used to poor decisions from all the way back in rogue lineage and just think it’s normal, or just don’t really have enough influence.

    Maybe what they should do is if you die in lower by a mob if you are a cast away you are not stained or depths sent but sent to the isle of vigils and a new quest pops up and says “find where you are” and then you get sent into the vigils trainers

    I 100% agree with trial of one. I have kinda bad ping but also just suck, so I was never able to get the to1 origin. I eventually just stopped playing the game because I felt like I hit a skill wall. Getting the origin way quicker would certainly help with that.

    eclipse on the whole cryptic thing, the wiki is fully fleshed out right now but on release there was no info the wiki even if its the "official wiki" its not created or managed by the deepwoken dev team its maintained by the community, even if right now as a new player you check the wiki to find out stuff when the wiki was first created the players found the information from within the game, discord and lore and posted the information online for people to use freely, this is why they said that it's intended for stuff to be cryptic within the game
    if you played this game on release during the first few months when we didn't know anything about the game and had to interact with the community as a whole to figure stuff out you may not dislike it as much as you do now
    although in the current state the game is right now it makes no sense why the stuff is still cryptic within the game

      or contractor an oath nobody knew until a guy who was and is a tester showcased it and the devs were like "he figured it out from the book istg" and since the oath looked like lord regent's tendrils they basically knew the oath giver then with the army of exploiters it took at most 2 days
      and vision shaper got found out because some dumbass testers were like yeah guys this is the npc i'm not going to show you the quest and stats you have to figure it out
      and you know 50 charisma the aelita event (just got added the previous weekly a lot of people did it by accident already) and a void feather aren't that hard of a quest to figure out + exploiters lol
      tldr: the system would actually hide stuff were it not for dumbass testers and exploiters lol

    i think deepwoken needs npc dialouge that actually helps. in every game i play i talk to every npc incase they have useful info, in deepwoken i just get random gibberish lore or a quest for a magic i cant use. it gets annoying because there is like no npc that tells you like "Do you know about those shark monsters? I heard that they live in damp caves" or something like that. i had to look up wiki to figure out where the shark monster is so i can kill them for the umbral obsidian.

    I think what Eclipse forgets id that when Deepwoken released, just like Elden Ring or Dark Souls is that when those games first came out, there wasn't a wiki, there wasn't hundreds of videos detailing the game and it's intricacies. Back then, it truly was through word of mouth where things were and how to get to them, things being hidden and hard to find was a character for the game itself, exploration being rewarded for charting into the unknown and hostile environment.
    However the reality is, what mystery existed back then, doesn't magically keep existing years later.
    So the early philosophy for the game doesn't work anymore, which is why updating the game to help exploration makes more sense now than back in the early days.
    That's my opinion.

    I love deepwoken a lot, however I agree with some of the flaws you say the game has, because I've tried introducing new players and I don't know how to let them learn the game at all, I have to explain everything because the game doesn't tell you much at the start, so I have to basically carry them trough it.

    For now I have played Deepwoken for about 2 years now, and honestly Its still pretty hard for me to deal with Voidwalkers, Strong monsters ( Deep owls, Threshers, Layer 2 etc) but it is really fun to defeat something that you have been stuck on for a long time. All i have to say is that i hope deepwoken gets easier for the new players joining this dark souls of a game.

    Such an easy solution to the games issue with a lack of direction would be to have NPCs who can give you hints or some vague guidance. Say that in every town there is an Attunement master or Attunement merchant in every mantra shop. You can speak to them and ask them about different attunements, and they will give you hints as to where the trainers can be found. Maybe when asking about Shadowcast they'll say something about how "It can be found in a basement, hidden in the military district of the city of Celtor, down in the Depths below." It's enough direction that not all players will immediately default to the wiki, and the info itself is in places that players who've been paying attention to the towns and the game will logically find.
    Hell they could even link NPCs and have them reference each other. It would make the world feel more alive and again improve on the lacking sense of direction. Say you see someone use some crazy attack you've never seen before. You speak to the Attunement master and at the bottom there's a dialogue option that asks "What about other magics?" for when none of the attunements they describe fit the description of what you saw. Upon selecting this option the Attunement master will inform you about Oath Magic and perhaps monster mantras. They could direct you to an NPC that knows about Oaths, or inform you about Dr. Carrion in the second layer.

    as someone who doesn't really look at wiki's when playing through games i had a blast discovering the secrets of the game and even after well over 200 hours of play time i was still discovering new things i had no idea exists. for me at least that was a big part of the charm of deepwoken and something i really enjoyed about the game. I do believe that a lot of the people who play deepwoken do agree that it is one of the best feelings when playing a deepwoken to discover a secret that you had no idea about.

    the forge of sin quest is like you go on a mission and find a big boss guy that gives you a bunch of loot and levels and its a very enjoyable quest that takes a hour at most ive dont i probably over 9 times and its never boring and it permently unlocks the boss fight until you wipe

    11:00 i would like to expressly and outright deny this point. i have 1.6k hours on this game, and i have played and met a TONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN of people. SO MUCH is learned through word of mouth, playing with others. just the other day i played with a guy and he showed me some tricks regarding guild bases that werent on the wiki or youtube video. deepwoken has such a tight knit and active community, it leads to so much stuff being spread around. shit there's almost ALWAYS someone in the deepwoken discord vc, where even bigger games dont have that. Yes, a ton of stuff is also learned through the wiki and youtube (not that i think it's a bad thing, i actually love it), but the devs were right on the money with people learning things themselves, and not just going on youtube for it. a ton of the things i learned were from just playing and asking others, and obviously since the devs really dont say much, then that allows for player experimentation and innovation, and spreading that information to your friends.
    edit: regarding voidwalkers.
    i myself play ONLY voidwalker, but that's simply because it's much more engaging for me. us voiidwalkers can still hunt each other, so i also know what it's like being hunted. and i'll say this in the most deepwoken way possible; if you get mad at voidwalkers, that's the biggest skill issue i've ever heard. if you cant handle players teleporting onto you, then get off the game. it makes a really loud noise, and you wouldnt know this since you dont voidwalk i assume, but players escaping from us happens more often than you think. you dying to a voidwalker is litereally just a skill issue. we cant hunt anyone that is very low level, and the maximum we can hunt is someone 5 levels below us. voidwalkers get heavily scrutinized by players who seem to think this is meant to be an easy game without death. voidwalking can only be done in certain areas, tp spots are often disadvantagous for us, and it limits pve exp gain. with all these debuffs i dont know what else you could want aside from removing it, which is insanly dumb considering how many people actually like it. learn how to fight other players, because you'll get into a fight with someone AT SOME POINT while playing deep.
    11:54 voidwalkers cant hunt in the depths, and there's a shadowcast npc in songseeker (i learned this by myself by just exploring btw, this is something you CAN do if you havent noticed)
    13:46 yeah, it does. old progression was, trial of one -> mini/song -> hive/depths -> depths/duke/whatever else floats your boat. this is how most players played, but some just went straight to depths after trial. this is done by plenty of games, most notably Hallow knight. i dont really see your point here. this is an open world game in every way possible, and the lack of direct storyline makes it feel so much more free and like you're really doing your own thing. if you're not sure where to go, ask someone. pretty simple. of course they'd direct you to lower since that's where the low hp easy mobs are. i hadnt been to lower when i wasnt a voidwalker for a while before voidwalking came out since i was good enough to go straight to hive. only times i went there was for duke and i'd just tp the temple and parkour my way on upper erisia. worse players will be directed there for a reason, and that's really all you need to get going honestly. also past lower erisia you can literally go anywhere and be fine if you dont suck ass. hive, song, mini, whatever. if you go to thunderstruck lands and get jumped by a sharko or golem, then hows about you stick to lower.

      i do think you're missing the point here. to use your example, yes, "word of mouth" is fine for little tricks like putting an artifact in your guild base to transport it or whatever. but when it comes to almost essential parts of the game, such as bosses like the duke, they really shouldn't be something you just stumble upon eventually.
      also, the main problem with voidwalkers is a LOT of the times they just spawn on you while you are already engaged in a fight with monsters and are at about half health, at which point they can just combat tag you and prevent you from getting a health pack from the monsters. i would like you to explain to me how it's fair for the voidwalker to start the fight at max health while the person getting jumped out of nowhere starts it at half.
      i don't think voidwalker needs to be outright removed, but your take that it seemingly has no issues and if you lose to one it's a skill issue is EXTREMELY ignorant.

      Yall voids really like to downplay the 5 level difference even though 5 levels is literally a quarter of your prog. A level 10 fighting a level 15 is almost always a death sentence for the former since the first dude just got out of trial and played for like 30 more minutes while the level 15 already has an endgame weapon and solid mantras.

    i have never thought about some of these stuff in my time playing deepwoken like the bells to open the gate, everyone just climb on top of the walls. also inaccessibility to new players is something i rarely think about since i already know what i want to do and how to do it before i even start playing i never realize how big the game actually is and how hard it is to grasp for someone completely new and fresh.

    Your opinion on the third question is honestly wild IMO. Just because someone can search something up doesn’t mean it should be put right in front of their face. Plenty of games that are successful have done the same as deepwoken more importantly triple A games not just indi devs. Examples that come to mind are resident evil games, souls like games, or any type of game that rewards players for exploring. Deepwoken just takes it up a notch and with it being a multiplayer game allows the community to spread things through word of mouth. Deepwoken still being a relatively small game seeing as how it is on Roblox means that not much of the game is actually on the wiki, and you be surprised at how much stuff is still word of mouth. I could on and on about how you made sense with your rant at all. Also I feel you are fairly unfamiliar with the rogue like genre.

    very good video, I think it brought up a lot of good questions and concerns for the game but there are some things I felt were a little iffy to me. like the thing about the wiki, this could just be because I started deepwoken a week after release but I've only gone on the wiki for making builds to see talent requirements or stats for items. The rest was pretty much word of mouth or TH-cam which is expected as who doesn't watch videos on the game they play? the game NEEDS a more of a structed walk through on the earlier stages of the game and maybe not getting stained your first couple of deaths but beyond that I think the difficulty and cryptic / hidden areas add to the charm of the game, this sort of idea were every location you go to could have some little secret that you didn't even know existed that could unlock or elevate you gameplay. And ofc the void walk situation is a mess for new players and even veteran players when you are just trying to progress, 100% needs changed or out right removed. Oh and last thing but maybe most important, it's way better to go into deepwoken bearing in mind that it's a pvp game with pve progression.

      but it isnt a pvp game. new players will always progress through pve, the best way to start progressing is through pve and pvp pretty much doesnt exist because the skill and knowledge gap between a freshie and some dude who wants to kill u for fun is way too big. this makes pvp only viable when fighting new players and lemme tell you, i have seen 3 freshies at most at erisia in my whole time learning the game lmao. and ofc u didnt need to look shit up bc the game was new and there were videos being made on literslly everything plus everyone was on a leveled playing field because the game had just released. the game isnt new now. this whole mystery thing u guys keep larping about only existed for a month at most. the devs stubornness and u guys being addicted to nostalgia will kill the game but who am i to judge right guild wars is coming out soon and im sure a lot of freshies will get to enjoy that with multiple voidwalkers trying to hunt em down.

Your job is to track down voidwalkers when they tp and kill them while having to protect someone. If that someone gets knocked or insta-gripped, you get tped back and wait for another voidwalker.     Personally I never had the issue of "wikiwoken". I played my first probably 200 hours without wikis, because I personally HATE wiki-metas and such. Sure, a lot of the starting bit of the game were really difficult, however, i found myself enjoying the game a lot even without a wiki.
    And tbh, I do tell my friends "hey, there is this cool thing in deepwoken that happens if you do this and this" and sure, if my friend have a follow up question, my anwser will probably be "idk, I havent tested that" etc etc

    You have to remember that this game was the brother to rogue lineage. Many players who played rogue have nostalgia of not knowing how to do anything when they first start and explore. Sure, you can memorize attack patterns and look up how to make a build on the wiki, but one of the key elements that deepwoken is missing that made rogue so great is a place like the tundra. In the tundra if you logged, you lost a life. Rogue was largly pvp based and the tundra was very foggy with snow, so either you actually had to explore the tundra or risk sitting in a spot and get jumped by players while watching a youtube video. The tundra was massive in the sense that there were many turns, making it hard to remember and causing you to go back to the video. What deepwoken is missing is a place that is truly shrouded in mystery like the tundra, with the risks being extremely high. Deepwoken is level up, get certain talents, and make build. To progress in rogue you needed your trainer, which required you to make the long and arduous journey of the tundra. Deepwoken is xp based, so there's no push to go into the dangers of the world when all you have to think about is leveling up.

    something i find funny is that before the game released there was this stranger system. you could see peoples names on tab-list unless they said their characters name to you. neat feature, sad it didnt see the light of day

    I've had Deepwoken since Christmas of last year, but I really started getting into it once I finally made it past power 1. Me and one of my friends figured out a method to prevent being hunted by voidwalkers. You don't even have to PVP! (Note: Voidwalkers can ONLY hunt you if you are enemies or lower than that.)
    1. If you use the castaway origin (and maybe lone warrior too, I would need someone to check.) You start with low reputation with The Ministry, Knives of Eylis, and The Hundred Legions. You can't pay off your Knives rep, but in both Luminants, an event will spawn where it's Knives VS. Etrea. It's two ships beside each other, one's burning, the other has red sails. If you do enough of those events, your rep with the Knives will become neutral.
    2. For The Ministry, you have some options. You could kill a player on Lower Erisia, a quest given by a man on the island with 4 statues. Or do the same thing in Songseeker Wilds, this time by another man on one of the smaller islands near Summer Isle. You could also take the easier way of farming Children Of Navae (Navae for short.) VS. Ministry events.
    3. Getting rep for the Legion is a little bit riskier, since your only choices are (to my knowledge...) Authority VS. Legions in Starswept Valley, or rarely, you could find an Authority VS. Legion event in Towerstruck Lands, and Upper Erisia. I found my 2nd one at the Temple of Forgotten Flame, which is above the bandit camp in Lower Erisia.
    And once you do all of those 3, voidwalkers can't get a bounty on you since you have no enemies, and that means killing you isn't worth their time since they can't teleport to you, have X-Ray vision of you for a short time, and they won't get a massive chest just from killing you. Your only threat from players are now gankers. Specifically, Dawnwalkers are most likely to jump you, atleast from what I know.

    hey tip you whould only know if it was told to you but you can get rip of voidwalkers if you get neutrul or posotive knives of eylis reputation it makes it so they cant hunt you anymore and dont get rewards for killing you

    I just started playing the game a couple days ago, and literally once I started I looked up “best boons and flaws in deepwoken” and “ isle of vigils or etrea”. I’ve actually played the game a year and a half ago I believe and I was immediately turned off once I got killed once because nothing was explained and I had no idea what to do and I was too lazy to look everything up. I do think the game is easier than it was before, but it is definitely not inviting to new players. I got all the way to power 14 and went to the hive and got killed by a blue megalodaunt (wouldn’t you know I looked up what that was too). Regarding the trial of one, before doing the trial of one (I didn’t even know it existed until my friend was telling me tips about the game and randomly mentioned it) I looked up videos on how defeating certain mobs (such as sharko and golem) and I still had a very troubling experience. Then I randomly got the minityrsa origin and I don’t even know how I got it, so I chose it and had no idea where I was then couple seconds later I was in the trial of one. It took me a couple days to beat the trial of one (I literally just beat it today as well) and the difference from before the trial of one and after is astonishing. I feel like the trial of one should be made more obvious because minityrsa is confusing and people might hold off on it because they are used to etrea or isle of vigils. Another thing is how builds and stats are explained in game (which are not explained very well in my opinion) and I am still struggling on making builds, and yt videos and the wiki have not really helped me so I turned to my friends for help and it was actually explained better. Overall if the game had a little more guidance I think it would be a much better game and I would be enjoying it more (not saying I’m not enjoying it). Deepwoken is definitely one of the better if not the best game I’ve played on roblox and I can’t wait to play more.

      Just because he makes 2 or 3 videos on deepwoken doesnt mean he will become a youtuber who solely plays it, and as far as i can see, the videos arent doing the best out of all his videos, but there is a chance. Hopefully, if he does start to play it more, he will play it because he likes the game, and not just for the views.

    Im coming at this late, but after your first wipe, instead of going to fragments, imagine just waking up in trial of one. If you beat it, you still get wiped, possibly by something taking you back down to the depths, and if you die same thing, but it'd unlock the origin and it'd be super cool.

    Thank you for shining the spotlight on the voidwalker issue, im okay with fighting back against voidwalkers, but my issue is that they can interupt you when you are doing anything at all, fighting another guy or even fighting mobs

    honestly i think there IS merit and enjoyment to be found in the mystery and difficulty behind progression and practice always having risk, but gatekeeping content in a rebirth game like this simply doesn’t work well when, as you’ve said, people kill each other, and then you just… look it up 😢

    You've probably already been told this but if you click on the quest you can remove it. While it's more of a band-aid on the problem it does get rid of the quest.

    I don't really agree with your point on word of mouth not working. Obviously, in some regards you're completely right - it definitely isn't difficult to find a tutorial that gets you straight to the shadowcast NPC. However, having a whole magic type obscured from you when you start the game DOES add to the mystery. Although it isn't hard to get shadow once you know it exists, there's no way to know it exists until you experience somebody using it in-game, and it feels rewarding to discover another secret that will let you play in another way next time. Once I know shadow exists, why would I want it to be a huge drag to obtain?

    About the Voidwalker thing, there is someone who takes care of Voidwalkers, Its Voidwalkers themselves, there was a update a month ago or more that made it so PvP players are more likely to have bounties on PvP players (by making it the worse your reputation is the more likely there is for you to be voidwalked). So PvE players (who most likely have good reputation with everyone) can progress in peace.

    Voidwalker should stay, but they should add some origin which tries to kill void walkers. Right now all you can do against voidwalkers as a new player is keep dying, which will get people to just stop playing, or you can get a friend which ruins you getting better.

    The whole players ganking you when you are fighting a mob at half hp is a BIG issue with deepwoken, I cannot count how many times ive wiped/died to players randomly attacking me in depths when im fighting corrupted mobs as deepbound or just trying to progress normally as ANYTHING ELSE. Especially with the voidwalker thing I tried to do it for a bit to get better at pvp but after a bit of progression I just went to vigils to go do stuff and got 2 voidwalkers both voidwalked on me as A VOIDWALKER. They S held and did that one ranged metal mantras. Voidwalkers in the past took less then 2 minutes of me being in a server to voidwalk on me get shit on by me and my guild and then call up their max level dawnwalker in songseeker. Great origin.

    I've been playing deep since release and I've gotten pretty much everything in the game except for a crypt blade (it's haunted me for ages) I've even hacked in the game before (not proud of this) my look a lot of the things you said is true voidwalkers do need a counter and it would also add more content to game having a origin where you hunt voidwalkers and now that deepwoken is pretty much explored I do think deepwoken should have a better tutorial but the aspect of the game throwing you into wilderness with no help was genuinely fun I remember thr first time me and my friends fought a deep owl we all died but we weren't mad we were laughing I think this aspect helped deepwoken pop off for the first few months and to add on to that resonances were such a mystery for at least a month or 2 because no one could generally figure out how it worked. A lot of the aspects deep had from rogue was really good for the game and process of dying to something cool or seeing something you wanted really drived people to play more I think they shouldn't stray away from the mystery word of mouth thing but just make it more fun and reasonable like proper quests that explain what your about to get into

    When I played it might have just been my ping, but I found parrying impossible, there’s such an incredibly small window for blocking/parrying, that it was almost impossible for me to do it, even on 1v1s

    Starting out in deepwoken almost a year and a half ago now ive watched the game grow and overcome alot of changes. I know basically everything but at the time, it was just me and my friend sailing around and exploring blindly trying to put together whatever we overcame and found, upon finding the hive (Starswept) we just started there now knowing where to go.
