I've known Mario since I saw his VERY FIRST BAND in the early 80's in Bermuda Dunes, California at a party in a living room. They were called "DEAD ISSUE." Famous bassist and my friend Scott Reeder was then on drums. Happy to see all my fellow desert fellas have so much success over the past 40-years.
This was one of my favorite cuts when I first heard Sky Valley, I didn't know it was a cover till much later. Come to find out Mario and his boys have cut some really wicked tunes and directly influenced a lot of the music that came from the desert, hats off to him as the desert bedrock.
must have been such great times. incredible amounts of nostalgia.... like that feeling you get when you watch the sunset over the horizon... :-) can't describe it.
The Across the River 1985 demo version of this song is ridiculously raw and good. His voice is so much better than what Kyuss could do with it. Far more soulful and punk at the same time. The whole tape captures a musical spirit you hope to find sifting through old vinyl. If you have not heard Across the River go to the search bar and type in Across the River 1985 Demo and enjoy "Tomorrow... tomorrow... its always tomorrow!"
@@dezionlion so the guy probably likes the same stuff as you do, possibly plays the same instrument, perhaps with greater passion and the best you can do is putting him down like 12 years olds do? It seems you're not much of a professional musician yourself, unless of course you start to list all the famous band you've been playing with. Bullies will be bullies.
Big respect for this man,the music he created was amazing. One of a kind
So Kyuss didn't spring from a cactus flower fully formed? I'll be damned....! Thanks to Brant Bjork for giving credit to his influences
I agree
godfather of stoner rock!
That tone is incredible.
that heavy riff in N.O. is one of the tightest grooves
I know right! Classic desert 🌵 OG groove
look at the smile on his face. this man loves what he does. MARIO YOURE MY GOD

Kyuss, Queens, Masters all in one riff. Saw the Brant Björk trio yesterday. So amazing all these guys. 🤘🏻😎
Incredibly stoked to be seeing him play with Yawning Man and Truckfighters on their North American tour soon! YEW!

Mario's the man, such a beast on the bass and the guitar........a living legend and such a great guy.
the passion while he's playing, awesome!
A true pioneer, i love across the river they should release this officially and remaster it. I would definitely be a consumer.
humble legend
Thanks for the great video, Kyuss lives!
That across the river demo is awesome!
God bless you.
Ye Heavy Riff stones me high!!!

The guitar playing make captions appear. That's some sweet guitar talking, baby!

King Mario..respect
Awesome
That’s music for you!
He was gettin into it lol
He always gets into it. That's what makes him great.
Homme was right when he said he’s unheckleable. You can’t deny the guinuine feel behind his playing.
What tuning is this in? Followed the link, but I didn't find it.
...
If you ask me it's in regular standard tuing: E A D G B e
True!.... my bad.. sorry
C standard
Lots of Leslie West influence without beig aripoff, loff this
Mario make some BARDO !!
no surprise that this is followed by a segment with bob balch. the "heavy riff"in this song has a full on fu manchu vibe
Every face that should be pulled when playing this song
You should remake "Leaving" by Across The River...PLEASE
What model ampeg is that?
Ampeg v 4
+Arjun Narayan isnt that a bass amp?
Can be. Also great for guitar
The bull Spanish yehaa!!! Ole ole!
I was there
Regroup, record and release !
Mario rules!! rancho de la luna??
I think it is. I've seen a few videos on it and that looks familiar.
Fucking superb
great actor :)
Denn Mcambley he is not acting
Devo
So basically Kyuss were just a Yawning Man covers band...??
N.O. was a song by Across the River, not Yawning man. Kyuss covered Catamaran by Yawning Man later on
They covered a couple songs, as every band does. 90% of their shit is original.
@@siebenedrissg Wait, Catamaran is a cover too?? How did I not know that? Might be my favorite song on Circus Leaves Town!!! Killer!
So much Sabbath
JUST HELP ME FIND MY HEAD!
is he using a bass amp??
it's a guitar amp. Either a V2 or V4. It's basically a bass amp though (a V4B is just a V4 without reverb).
Kyuss, Josh Homme used a bass amp for Kyuss.
Super Mario
Old u2.
Boomer rocks!
Too much talking
Not much of a lesson..
Then you’re not much of a guitarist
