Dear Becca, I totally get why you love your old farmhouse and you decorated it soo beautiful, BUT I personally find it so enormous it would make me anxious to live in there. Way too many rooms to clean 🙈 and heat up. For us, (average European families), these huge houses are insane. Gorgeous, beautiful, don't get me wrong, having space and that wonderful sunlight over the house is a treause. However, I already LOVE your cottage a lot more 🥰 It is going to be such a cosy, warm nest for the Bristow family. Downsizing this way was a very bright and smart decision in my oppinion. Well done Becca & Matt. Love and all the best for the new adventure ❤

I’m definitely curious about the next house as it seems way to small for your big family. If I had to guess I think the next house is more of an investment then a long term home. I get concept of don’t have too much more than you need. When my husband and I were house hunting I liked the idea of buying a larger home than we needed to have us set up for the future (kids etc) My husband was not into that thinking and convinced me otherwise for a first home. Im now glad he did. I wanted 4 kids back then and now I do not after having our first 🤷🏼♀️
I loved the tour! The house is HUGE. My goodness. We have a fixer upper, and we are slowly chipping away at projects. It's great to see your accomplishments because it's inspirational for us in the trenches lol

I couldn’t understand why you’d wanna leave when you announced the cottage. And then you got to the upper upstairs where there was THREE MORE BEDROOMS AND A BATHROOM. The heat bill… the cleaning. Oftah.😅 Plus, we knew about the servants quarters above the kitchen. That is sooo much house!!
Loved seeing this tour! It feels like that home should be on tour for the public since it’s so historical, haha. Another idea would’ve been to rent out that mother in law suite for some extra income!

This home is amazing it just kept getting better and better and better lol-but I can understand selling it; real estate is an investment and it is still a great time to sell. Im sure it was definitely worth it to move. My favorites were the master bedroom and cellar.
What did you think of having hardwood floors upstairs? We currently have white carpet (impossible to maintain with dogs and kids) and I would like to put in hardwood or laminate flooring. Curious how others like them with noise, etc.
