This was a great Elvis movie. Probably his best and Elvis’ favorite movie he made. Elvis has always been my favorite singer/ entertainer. In my opinion, he’s the greatest singer to ever live period. His voice was transcendent. His charisma, his looks, his ability to connect with people on and off camera were a gift. He’s the coolest cat ever. He was a good southern gentleman also. This song is so damn cool, the best is great, Kitty with the female vocals ... amazing! Then you have the King with the effortless swag, the perfect tone and interpretation of the track. 🔥 Check out Trouble from this movie also. And New Orleans if you want some raw Elvis.

After learning so much about Elvis on SIRIUSXM'S Elvis Channel (19), I've come to appreciate him and his legendary status as one of history's best entertainers! He acted in films he had no control over bc of his controlling manager, Colonel Parker. He did the best he could with what was handed to him, thru contractual obligations signed by his manager! Every film has it's redeeming value. Some are comedic, some serious, but, I came to appreciate them for what they were: an extension of the artist trying to please his fans! Blue Hawaii was nice, Kid Galahad was up there. They're all good, in my eyes!
James Dean was supposed to be in this movie but when he died they cast Elvis and his manager insisted songs were added so he had a record to sell. His acting career could have been amazing. Plus he is so good looking in this film. 🙊

There is a cut available that reduces the time given the street vendors and eliminates the jazzy brass splash, and gets right to the duet. Not to say there is anything wrong with those things in and of themselves, but they are there as exposition for the entire film/movie, and are out of place without the movie as context. The reason Elvis went into the army was simple as The Colonel Tom Parker told Elvis was 'If you don't go many young man will fallow that route" and that would have been a bad example.
He could sing a menu and make it exciting. This was before the Army tamed him. His mojo appeared again during the 1968 TV Special.
Those 2 together made this song dynamite.
