Grocery store, Episode 13: The end of thye journey is neigh! For only the chips and fizzy drinks for the party are missing. Celebrate, not for thee end, but because the journey hath been oh so very pleasing. Onwards!
“He took her face in his hands. 'I'll come and find you wherever you are. I'll not stop breathing until I do. So you're going to have to promise me that you won’t lose hope. That you will keep yourself alive.' He tried to wipe her tears, but there were too many. 'I heard your song the moment we were born," she sobbed. "And years later, it dragged me back from the lake of the half-dead when all I wanted to do was die. Each time someone tried to kill me, it sang its tune and gave me hope.' She pressed cold lips against his and they tasted the salt of each other's tears. 'Are you ready?' he asked. She nodded.

When you find the perfect cabbage, pick it up and twirl with it with your arms extended, followed by bringing it to your chest caressing the perfect cabbage knowing you have found the perfect cabbage
When you’re sitting around the dinner table with your middle class family and thankful for the groceries your mom went out to buy with her hard-earned money. Your dad puts the newspaper down and waxes poetic about how great his family is. Your kid sister looks up at you and smiles… All this takes place in this sepia toned memory you’ve never had.
The first song is called "Just Misty" by Brian Alberici & Andrew May and the second song is called "Harvey Wallbanger 1" by Reg Tilsley. Both songs are from the DeWolfe album Renoir.
*@Erica Riley* Thank You for sharing that information, Erica. You mustve cross referenced these titles to their authors through the De Wolfe website As a child I can actually remember when 100.1 KEZY-FM (Dallas-Ft Worth) played these. De Wolfe's music was in widespread use all across television production, so it makes sense that they were played on Easy Listening radio, too I was simply mesmerized by these tracks when I was little. Like any US Easy Listening station of the time, we could never find out the song titles, what orchestrator, or what orchestra. But theres just music so magnificent & so powerful that you need only hear it once & youll remember it for your lifetime 🎹 🎻 💃
I would say youre experiencing tears of joy for such a magnificent musical expression of natural outdoor beauty. The name "Misty" makes the connection between the two "natural beauties;" both of the (misty) outdoors, & that of romance with a lovely lady named Misty... Since the composers are men, its logical from a man's p.o.v., & his appreciation for both Mistys. People can picture an infinite number of different things as their minds naturally respond by creating a visual context for the music. But this theme is _DEFINITIVE,_ because outdoor majesty & romance are unmistakably indicated What so many commoners like you & me overlook is that is the very purpose of the music; its intention. To relax your body & let your mind wander. And thats the very reason there are _NO WORDS._ So your imagination will take over The guessing of "childhood trauma" could be an honest attempt to find an explanation, but knowing people to be the jerks they often are its more believable to be a really dumb attempt at humor
Makes me miss the feeling of home that one finds between the formica countertops and white metal shelves stocked with a seemingly infinite bounty of beautifully processed and packaged food. The peak of suburban delight.
I keep expecting these beautiful batch of songs to end abruptly, but there’s always 3 more to greet me in the suggestions! Thank you, TH-cam for such a goldmine✨

I so remember when the produce section of a grocery store looked like this! Though those memories date back to the 1980s (I wasn't alive until the final year of the '70s), the produce section didn't really change until the '90s IIRC, like around 1992 or thereabouts. Anyway, I'm loving these songs! It's great music for when you're working on something or reading something.
I don't usually kiss and tell but, well, Carol and I finally experienced each others bodies. I could tell when my body ended and hers began because she feels like a ziploc bag of cream of mushroom soup everywhere. Overall, it was a great 20th birthday.
Agreed. The trembelo-style playing of a 12 string acoustic guitar, in accompaniment with the piano (lead instrument), is especially lovely. In a lifetime of being a radiohead having heard thousands of uniquely creative songs, I dont know of a single other one that employs a 12 string being picked in trembelo. The _Renoir_ album cover gives proper credit to Brian Alberici, Andrew May, & Reg Tilsey for being its composers. But it gives no indication as to the orchestrator leading the orchestra. It was just az common a practice then as it is now to have the composer of his own music conduct De Wolfe Orchestra for recording day. Karl Jenkins, Reg Tilsey, David De Wolfe, Simon Hasely, Ludovic Decosne, & André Ceccarelli are just a few from a long list of examples. Knowing that single fact reveals how the orchestra is also taking the time to get acquainted with their guest conductor as they go through routine rehearsals with the freshly written sheet music in front of them, working their way up to the next recording session Also, _EITHER_ the composer or the orchestrator could have chosen to have a 12 string player in the arrangement (the selection of orchestral musicians present for recording session) Whatever the case, whomever chose to have this particular 12 string player on that day was very fortunate to have him/ her. As a musician myself I wouldnt think it so odd or uncommon to the trembelo technique to be applied to a 12 string. But for a recorded song, it turns out to be a rarity. The year of _Just Misty_ is actually 1983, not 1975. And _To A Country Lady,_ by Nick Ingman is actually 1999. So, it looks like the compilation album _Sounds For The Supermarket 1975_ was actually produced in the early 80's, not in 1975 as the original uploader of the album states in the Notes section. And thats because the greater majority of these tracks date from 1980 to 1986. Only 2 date from the 90's
i started from a sorrow TV video. he used track one as background music. oh boy was i lucky to have found these tracks.. my god... it feels so weird. i wasn't even around at the time this was made.. but god.. it's so.. beautiful, in a way.
Back to the comfort we have agreed by now that we settled for, do some chords that can be heard from time to time through the track sound a bit ... mechanical? Machines! We have been talking for a while about capitalism and services and automation but without mentioning machines. Machines play a great role in the modern era but we don't seem to talk about them enough (remember, this is in 1975). That is why the chords alluding to them have a passive presence throughout the track, they're our shy, calm friends doing most of the work for us. But did you notice that the piano which is the main instrument in the track sounds more like the chords alluding to the machines towards the end? That is to indicate that even if we did not give enough attention to the machines initially, we are recognizing their role as times advance, and that maybe, just maybe, we are slowly becoming one with the machines (as the chords sounds disappear, and the piano sounds louder and more "mechanical") Given that this was made in 1975, this is like a self-fulfilling prophecy and 1 more reason to classify this album as a masterpiece. Moving on, track 14!
With the exception of an electric guitar, a very natural all-acoustic performance, of what is meant to illustrate a very romantic or otherwise very natural outdoors experience. But youre saying this song is a vehicle to get us, the listeners, accustomed to a mechanized (unnatural) presence. Do you even know how those "mechanical" chords accompanying the piano are being produced? 'Cause theres no synthesizer nor is there an autoharp present in this song (hint hint)
While we may have suffered our first great defeat, we were not going to let that stop us. For the next few days, we trained and devised strategies to defeat this enemy before us. We would be prepared for this next encounter.
