Hi, I don't know if you are still active on here but I wanna thank you. I watched this video when i was 12 some 7 or 8 odd years ago cause my PC couldn't run CS:GO very well and this really helped me and it just so happens that it got recommended to me again. So, yeah, thank you very much kind sir and have a nice one :).
Pretty much you can do it either on auto or do it on 10.5. I tried it both ways and it gave me the same results. And i dont have an extra fan. I just have one intake, 2 exhaust and then what the powersupply does. I may wana add some more to my case but it is up to you if you want to add more fans.
ALRIGHT GUYS!! Got my CPU up to 2.51Ghz. The way you can get it up to that is this: CPU Frequency(Mhz): 239 Memory Clock: X3.33 if you are using ddr2 800 memory, it will lower it to 796 i believe. But that is how you can get it up to that frequency. Happy Overclocking!
they are also making phenom dual's...Weird sort of but they should be just as fast as the tri's. but ill get a quad...just to see what i can put it too. I'll try and get a zalman 120mm fan for it. Copper exlusivly
So is there anyway to overclock a pc that is HP? I have the processor mentioned above but for some reason I feel it is not operating the way it should, slows down significantly when more than one person is logged on
It can do more of course. I just made a video to show just the basics. You would have to mess with the multiplier, memory clock, voltage, etc. I mean i can get mine up to 2.57Ghz if i wanted to just messing around with the setting a little.
yeah i just got a 550w Antec true power. i noticed that it thinks mine is a opteron (barcelona) but with my specs of the phenom...I dont want to push it on a fan, maybe when i decide to do liquid cooling on the chip and video card, then ill push it.
well your PSU is running a little hot....but other then that...everything seems to be running alirght....how many fans are you runnning...need at least 2 intake and 2 exhaust for proper cooling of the board :D
What motherboard are you running this on, just curious. I have the same X3 Phenom and trying to figure out how to overclock it effectively like you did.
mine on stock idles at around 27 degrees according to like Temperature programs....But when i look at the bios, it says its in upper 30's...close to 40...The PSU is really really quiet too......only thing i hate about it is, that it is not modular, so i have a lot of cables, i have to hide them on the other side of my Coolermaster cm690 since it has a lot of room :D
hello , nice video but i have a question my processor is a AMD phenom x3 8600 2.30 ghz how mutch you think i can overclock is with a standart stock fan ? greetings becaus with 2.30 triple core i cant play gta 4 good i dont know why but well :p
mine used to do that to. But after i updated my bios, it will post and then say that it didn't work and reverted back to stock, so you just have to mess around with the settings
well pretty much its not just the processor...you have to consider also RAM and what all things are running on the other account...that would usually slow a system down if you are running a lot of apps on one of the user accounts....and no you cannot overclock a locked computer like (HP, Dell, Compaq, Sony, etc.)
well if you overclock it too much without proper cooling, you can damage your processor or reduce the life of it. So you have to have right cooling for it. Like my friend as a intel i7 extreme and he has his chip to 4Ghz, and the processor is at 35 degrees idle. Liquid cooling. hope that helps!
It will show as 2.1GHz under Vista because of Cool 'n' Quiet - if you disable this you will notice an increase in bench performance and will show the correct speed ;) 239 host clock for 2.5GHz with memory clock set to 3.33x :) WIN :D Great video, Aaron :)
go to the manufactures website and see if there is a new update. My mobo has a program called @bios that checkes new updates for bios. It's a gigabyte motherboard btw. So you just have to see if there is a new update for it. so far I updated mine like 4 different times since i bought it
is your machine a custom built machine or is it a store bought machine(HP, Dell, Compaq, Gateway, etc). The store bought machines have locked processors and cannot be overclocked. Only custom built machines can.
is your machine store bought (HP, DELL, COMPAQ, ACER, etc.). If it is, then you cannot overclock because motherboard is locked. If it isnt, tell me the Motherboard name
well i was running on stock at that temp...you only have to check if your RAM itself will be able to. I use G.Skill DDR2 800 memory, and i have it OC @ 952mhz...so you have to be careful. If you never OC'ed your Chip, i wouldn't recommend it
mmmm its a gts 250 ,i should be good enough for it , your processor is 2.4 ghz now ? , mine is 2.30 , how mutch you think i can overclock it ? but well im planning to buy this month a second gts 250 so then it should be bether also eh
yes! its the same thing...so you spend less money to get the same performace out of the chip. but if you compare it to a tri-core vs. quad-core...then there is no comparison, the quad would be faster :D hope that helps
Well the new phenom's are comming out and AMD put them to the ultimate test, 6.3Ghz nitrogen cooled though :D. Quads. I'm waiting on the new ones to come out because they are 45nm instead of 65nm. So cooler and much higher overclocking capabilities. Even though my machine at 2.5 ghz was at 29 degrees when it was idle! :D..........weird!
hi everybody my specs is: amd phenom x3 8450 2.1ghz ecs a780gm-a blackseries motherboard ati hd 3200 built in graphic card 4gb ram. well i run 64bit windows??
actually, i just overclocked it to 2.51 ghz. and the memory is at 800 mhz. so i managed to do it. I had a fellow phenom x3 guy show me. Just look at the last message from deadfredvideo.
well you cannot overclock your computer if it is store bought period. I only use bios to overclock...dont use programs though so i cannot help ya on that one
about the fact that the 9800 GT is bether then the 250 gts , not true lol , the gts 250 is the beginning of the 200 series , hes almost the same as the 9800 gtx + a liddle bether im sure about that ^^,but i guess yes you running 200 mhz more then me and your OC your ram also that will be the point

Oh awesome, you are most welcome!
Pretty much you can do it either on auto or do it on 10.5. I tried it both ways and it gave me the same results. And i dont have an extra fan. I just have one intake, 2 exhaust and then what the powersupply does. I may wana add some more to my case but it is up to you if you want to add more fans.
Thanks for the info. I will look into that one. My XFX 750a SLi is a pain to overclock. Can't even change the NorthBridge or memory clock.
ALRIGHT GUYS!! Got my CPU up to 2.51Ghz. The way you can get it up to that is this:
CPU Frequency(Mhz): 239
Memory Clock: X3.33

what you have it set on...like clock and memory and all that?
It can do more of course. I just made a video to show just the basics. You would have to mess with the multiplier, memory clock, voltage, etc. I mean i can get mine up to 2.57Ghz if i wanted to just messing around with the setting a little.

:D
well your computer is compensating for the overclocking...but the fan is spinning a little high i think? mine spins at iono less then 2000 rpm
Check some of the boot options?
hello , nice video but i have a question
my processor is a
AMD phenom x3 8600 2.30 ghz
how mutch you think i can overclock is with a standart stock fan ?
greetings
becaus with 2.30 triple core i cant play gta 4 good i dont know why but well :p
mine used to do that to. But after i updated my bios, it will post and then say that it didn't work and reverted back to stock, so you just have to mess around with the settings
Do you need any more cooling than you already have got?
normal temperatures??
min and max??
can overclock with cooler socket?
well pretty much its not just the processor...you have to consider also RAM and what all things are running on the other account...that would usually slow a system down if you are running a lot of apps on one of the user accounts....and no you cannot overclock a locked computer like (HP, Dell, Compaq, Sony, etc.)
Could you make a vid to show me...I tried every single combo and some worked but were not stable.
what did you set your clock ratio too and voltage?
Just got a Zalman 9700NT CPU cooler and mine idles at 13-15 degrees, does that sound right?
well if you overclock it too much without proper cooling, you can damage your processor or reduce the life of it. So you have to have right cooling for it. Like my friend as a intel i7 extreme and he has his chip to 4Ghz, and the processor is at 35 degrees idle. Liquid cooling. hope that helps!
You have liquid cooling or just standard heatsink?
oh i see ,, yea its a store bought computer,, :) thanks for your answer
btw, u know any good and safe program to overclock ur cpu with?
hello i have a amd phenom 8450 cpu but i cant find the M.I.T option in bios? u know anything about it?
i'f i'm overclocking it to 2.24 or 2.3 what are good temps or when i know i'm overheating my processor?
It will show as 2.1GHz under Vista because of Cool 'n' Quiet - if you disable this you will notice an increase in bench performance and will show the correct speed ;)
239 host clock for 2.5GHz with memory clock set to 3.33x :)

for some reason, it takes my mobo a long time to post. Any idea what could be causing it. I tried contacting Gigabyte, but no answer.
@Hacker2090 you can run 64 bit OS even on 1gb of RAM if u wanted to because ur chip is 64 bit capable
dont worry about the temp...you can get them even hotter then that...like 80+ celcius...so your pretty good
is your machine store bought (HP, DELL, COMPAQ, ACER, etc.). If it is, then you cannot overclock because motherboard is locked. If it isnt, tell me the Motherboard name
temps should be anywhere between 35-80 celcius. They have a very nice range
my chip at 2.5 on crappy air cooled heatsink is idleing at like 45 celcius
well i was running on stock at that temp...you only have to check if your RAM itself will be able to. I use G.Skill DDR2 800 memory, and i have it OC @ 952mhz...so you have to be careful. If you never OC'ed your Chip, i wouldn't recommend it
@Timbojones0123 hehe, some fine tunning bro. Upgrade your ram to 4 gb at least. and i have a 32mb cache HDD
How to overclocking in BIOS "Phoenix"? Help me pls
cooler??
stock cooler amd?
wat happen if i overclock too much?? blown engine??
@veca1987 ok thanks i will use the 32mb cache hardrive for operating system and games and the other one for storage
mmmm its a gts 250 ,i should be good enough for it , your processor is 2.4 ghz now ? , mine is 2.30 , how mutch you think i can overclock it ? but well im planning to buy this month a second gts 250 so then it should be bether also eh
Yup...That's what i did. I'm just waiting on the AMD Phenom II Quads. They run cooler and can overclock them more.
I believe so. I just got mine set to auto and it set it by itself. I also managed to underclock it the first time i was trying...it was funny :D.
iono how what is wrong....what is your multiplier?
You can manualy put the voltage to 1.4v kick up the bus speed, lower the htt by one or 2 settings and go up to 3ghz no prob
So should I overclock to about 2.5 Ghz? Is it safe?
well either that... or your pc wont start up again untill u reset your bios or your motherboard can go bad...just numerous things...
yes! its the same thing...so you spend less money to get the same performace out of the chip. but if you compare it to a tri-core vs. quad-core...then there is no comparison, the quad would be faster :D
hope that helps
@jatt4life229 no it can't because manufactures (dell,hp,acer,gateway,etc..) get motherboards that cannot be overclocked.
why is your computer so quick starting up my is really slow i have
AMD phenom ii X4 965
4870
2gb dominator ram
7200rpm 16mb cache 500gb
hey man
thanks for the vid it was very usefull..know i can get a cheaper phenom and just overclock it!
Start by ordering a tube of Artic Silver 5 and replace your thermal paste... then try again. I bet you could take it to 2.4 atleast.
An I the only one who doesnt got that option in BIOS? That MB inteligent thingy.
I got Packard bell :/
hi everybody my specs is: amd phenom x3 8450 2.1ghz
ecs a780gm-a blackseries motherboard
ati hd 3200 built in graphic card
4gb ram.
well i run 64bit windows??
im just using stock so im afraid to push it that far
can i do it the same way on amd X3 8550
WompDoo Can I answer
i tried but couldnt do it!
actually, i just overclocked it to 2.51 ghz. and the memory is at 800 mhz. so i managed to do it. I had a fellow phenom x3 guy show me. Just look at the last message from deadfredvideo.
Well pretty much add up the multiplier...
so like:
10.5 x 220=2310 or 2.31Ghz
10.5 x 219=2299.5 or 2.29Ghz
mine is:
10.5 x 239=2509.5 or 2.5Ghz
the one i got is a zalman 9700 cpu cooler
is this possible to do on windows 7?
Yes sir, you shouldn't have any issues with it
There doesn't seem to be any option in the bios..
jester0075 Is it a custom built machine or is it a store bought unit?
its an oem machine.
So it might have a locked motherboard that cannot be messed with
well you cannot overclock your computer if it is store bought period. I only use bios to overclock...dont use programs though so i cannot help ya on that one
oh....well i believe a 9800GT is a tad better then 250 gts. im at 2.5ghz and my ram is at 952mhz. so reallly do not know why ur getting bad quality
nope...stock Cooler...i did upgrade now and i have a Zalman 9700NT CPU cooler
cannot do this to your HP...motherboard is locked
mine runs atm at fsb 229!
around 2399/2402mhz
Overclocked 40C
Overclocked Stressed 50/53C
yes...stock little 15 dollar thermal take aluminum fan
15C idle and 27C on load
GTA 4 runs fine with my chip...it may be your video card not doing a good job
aight thaanks
well like i said....get a few more fans so that you can get a lot more air flow through the chaise. other then that.....thats about it
what the hell? the updates should be free...what the manufacture of the MOBO
thats why you don't buy brands if you are wanting to overclock. I got 2.73ghz on my 8450 with M4A Deluxe
gigabyte MA790X-DS4. really easy to overclock.
about the fact that the 9800 GT is bether then the 250 gts , not true lol , the gts 250 is the beginning of the 200 series , hes almost the same as the 9800 gtx + a liddle bether im sure about that ^^,but i guess yes you running 200 mhz more then me and your OC your ram also that will be the point
i wanna do this to my one with hp but i worried about fucking it up :O
CPU frequency: 240-->2514mhz
for now...its a thermal take pos
@veca1987 thanks 4 reply
well mine is 10.5..thats why
damn !
Wow
turn UAC off! :D
lol overclock make warm
brand: Thermaltake
pos: piece of crap...but the other version :D
